“…I believe in Joe Biden and will do everything in my power to help elect him the next president of the United States.”
Senator Kamala Harris (D) has endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden (D) for president.

“When I started my run for president, I said America needs a president who reflects the decency and dignity of the American people; a president who speaks the truth; and a president who fights for those whose voices are too often overlooked or ignored.
“I still believe that to this day. That is why I am proud to announce I am endorsing my friend, Vice President Joe Biden, for President of the United States.
“I got to know Joe more than a decade ago through his son – my dear friend, the late Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden. As attorneys general during the financial crisis, Beau and I were leaders in the fight to take on the biggest banks in the nation and secure billions of dollars in relief for homeowners across the country. And I can tell you that Beau inherited his strength of character, selfless courage, and commitment to public service from his father, Joe.
“As I reflect on my own time on the campaign trail spent listening to people’s hopes, dreams, fears, and daily struggles, I know what Americans want and deserve in their next commander-in-chief.
“Americans deserve a president who confronts the daily challenges facing working people with the same determination and steady leadership they apply to addressing the most serious crises facing our nation. We deserve a president with the knowledge and experience to reassure a nation weary of tweets, lies, and incompetence. And we deserve a president who speaks to the best of who we are and challenges us to live up to our ideals.
“There is no one better prepared than Joe to steer our nation through these turbulent times, and restore truth, honor, and decency to the Oval Office. He is kind and endlessly caring, and he truly listens to the American people. You can see in his eyes how he takes to heart the experiences of mothers and fathers working to make ends meet and worrying about whether their children can be safe in their classroom, or young people who fight tirelessly to tackle climate change as they ask for a fair shot at the future in front of them. And with a lifetime in public service, Joe has a proven track record of getting things done.
“Like many women, I watched with sadness as women exited the race one by one. Four years after our nominee, the first woman to win the nomination of a major party, received 3 million more votes than Donald Trump but still lost, we find ourselves without any woman on a path to be the Democratic nominee for president. This is something we must reckon with and it is something I will have more to say about in the future. But we must rise to unite the party and country behind a candidate who reflects the decency and dignity of the American people and who can ultimately defeat Donald Trump.
“I truly believe our nation is at an inflection point. And the decision voters make this November will shape the country and the world our children and grandchildren will grow up in. I believe in Joe Biden and will do everything in my power to help elect him the next president of the United States.”

Secretary Julián Castro Endorses Senator Elizabeth Warren for President
SAN ANTONIO, TX (January 6, 2019) – On Monday, January 6, 2019, former Obama Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Mayor of San Antonio, Texas, Julián Castro, endorsed Senator Elizabeth Warren for President of the United States. In a video released Monday, the former presidential candidate explained why he believes Senator Warren is the most qualified, best-equipped candidate to win the nomination, defeat Donald Trump, and build a nation where everyone counts.
“Theres one candidate I see who’s unafraid to fight like hell to make sure America’s promise will be there for everyone,” said Secretary Julián Castro in the video. “Who will make sure that no matter where you live in America or where your family came from in the world, you have a path to opportunity too. That’s why I’m proud to endorse Elizabeth Warren for President.”
Following his endorsement, Secretary Castro will travel to New York to campaign alongside Senator Warren at a joint rally at Brooklyn’s King Theatre.
As a former mayor of San Antonio, Texas, HUD Secretary under President Obama, and groundbreaking presidential candidate, Secretary Castro is among the most high-profile endorsers in 2020, and only the second endorsement from a former 2020 presidential candidate. Secretary Castro inspired millions with his historic campaign—distinguished for his efforts to fight for the most vulnerable people, marginalized communities, the poor, and those left out of the political process.

On his Monday morning radio show, Steve West promotes fanatical conspiracies about “Jewish cabals” that are “harvesting baby parts” through Planned Parenthood, that torture and molest children and that run the Republican Party.
On Tuesday he won the Republican primary for a Clay County seat in the Missouri House.
“…Below are the candidates of the major parties as they appear on the ballot and their ratings by Missouri Right to Life Federal or State Political Action Committee. Ratings are based on surveys, public statements, public record, voting records for those who presently hold or previously held office, interviews, and information from those in the districts. Candidates in BOLD CAPS are endorsed by Missouri Right to Life Federal or State Political Action Committee for the August 7th primary election…”
…Senior Republican officials have told me they’re holding their breath, hoping Trump won’t endorse hardliner Kris Kobach in Tuesday’s Kansas gubernatorial primary. Kobach is as far right as a Republican gets on immigration and voting rights, and Democrats view his potential victory as an opportunity to steal centrist voters…

St. Louis – Today, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) announced their endorsement of Chris Koster’s campaign for governor. The NRA-PVF cited Attorney General Koster’s longstanding support of Second Amendment rights as the key reason for their endorsement.
Attorney General Koster released the following statement in response to the endorsement.
“I am pleased to receive the endorsement of the NRA. As a rural prosecutor, State Senator, and now as Attorney General, I have long defended Missouri’s hunting heritage and Second Amendment rights. As Governor, I pledge to continue to protect the traditions and values of people across Missouri.”
Republican Peter Kinder spent his second term as Missouri’s lieutenant governor improperly spending taxpayers’ money for political travel, challenging the federal health reform law in a clumsy lawsuit and getting in trouble with visits to a bawdy nightclub.
No wonder Kinder was unable to put together a campaign for governor. But now he wants to warm the lieutenant governor’s seat for a third term.
Fortunately, voters have a much better option in Democrat Susan Montee.
As a former state auditor, Montee knows every nook and cranny of state government.
She would be eminently qualified to fill in for the governor if needed – which, after all, is the primary function of the office….
….Voters can expect Montee to carry out her duties in a responsible, conscientious way. The same cannot be said for Kinder.
Congress is deadlocked, stymied by partisanship and a big target for voter discontent, expressed in record-low approval ratings. Yet area incumbents likely have the upper hand. It shouldn’t be so in all cases.
Here are The Star’s recommendations for local contested congressional races:
Cass County Prosecutor Teresa Hensley, the Democratic challenger, far outclasses Republican incumbent Vicky Hartzler. Voters should evict Hartzler, who in her first term showed no interest in compromise or moderate views.
Hensley has a shot at accomplishing what voters often say they want: Beating an incumbent and offering a thoughtful approach to the nation’s ills. New boundaries stretch the district from Harrisonville to Columbia, and add the more progressive Boone County.
Hensley, of Raymore, emphasizes help for small businesses, including breaks on costly regulations, as the best way to boost job prospects in the largely rural district. Her record as prosecutor speaks well of her ability to pull people together. She’s created child abuse response teams as well as arson and DWI task forces. As she says, prosecutions aren’t partisan, and she pledges to keep that attitude in Congress.
She backs alternative energy efforts, public education improvements and reforms to the tax system, including higher taxes for those who earn more than $1 million.
Hartzler’s family is a long-time recipient of federal farm aid, yet she likes to bash U.S. spending – for others. She’s a tea party voter with no hint of compromising in her future. She’s ducked debate offers and avoids joint appearances. There’s a reason. Hensley’s thoughtful ideas would expose Hartzler’s weaknesses.
Hensley would effectively serve the district formerly represented for decades by Ike Skelton….

Like a carnival barker cajoling a mark into spending the last bills in his wallet, the Republican Party is counting on Americans’ not remembering that they’ve seen this trick before.
GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney wants voters to forget their familiarity with the prize he’s dangling before their eyes – a return to the disastrous economic policies that preceded the recession. Given that context, Romney’s prize is no better than a fake pearl….
Though, betting on the long term memory of the American voter is a risky proposition.
