Josh Hawley (r) [2016 file photo].

Someone’s being looking at polling data.

Today:

Josh Hawley @HawleyMO
Politicians in both parties should quit using Social Security and Medicare as bargaining chips. I’m introducing legislation to exempt both programs from the debt ceiling. No more scare tactics
10:26 AM · Jan 31, 2023

Lame sleight of hand there, Josh.

Only one party wants to gut Social Security and Medicare. Yours.

Some of the responses:

THIS ACCOUNT HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN HACKED [….]

маскировка.

I’d like this tweet more if it didn’t come from a treasonous piece of shit.

You want to make an already non-discretionary part of the budget more non-discretionary?

Cuz when things get scary, you run away. Low hanging fruuuuuiiiitttt!!!!

Sounds like the GOP realizes their plan backfired on them.

Polling probably says…yep.

But not from Privatization?

Shhhhh.

Social Security is already exempt. It’s not part of the same structure. LEARN YOUR JOB, DUDE.

For a second I read “politicians in both parties should quit using social media.”

I’m pretty sure only one party has talked about reducing or eliminating Social Security…its not both parties

Josh…Hawley.. ah yes, supported trump election lies, right.

“…fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.”

Are you leaving the Republican party? Because its stated goal is to punish the poor and give more tax cuts to the super rich.

Afflict the afflicted, comfort the comfortable.

The right is using it as a bargaining chip Josh…

Who are you and what have you done with the real Josh Hawley?

It’s called “gaslighting”.

You should repeal the trump tax cuts. Proven to be a terrible idea that the country can’t afford.

Wait until you find out about they did to us proles in that one.

Excuse me but YOUR party are the ones that call SS an entitlement and have talked about upping the age requirement in order to receive the benefits we are legitimately owed.

Social Security operates independently from the rest of the federal government, with dedicated funding sources and long-term commitments that are not subject to the annual budget process.[….]

Dude you’ll never be president

Trying to sound like a reasonable insurrectionist? Still a grifter and a Maga traitor

“It’s a trap!”

These 2 programs should never be on the bargaining table. We have worked all our lives and its our money weve put into SS. you would be stealing from us if you deal with it to get something else. It should never be taxed either!

Both parties? Seems like you guys realized what a third rail issue that became despite running on it in the last election cycle. But now you’re being consistently hypocritical (oxymoron)

Oh, sweetie. “Both” parties aren’t doing this. YOURS is the one that brought it up.

More posturing and no budget from you GOP clowns. Put up the budget Josh.

Corrupt, lying seditionist says What????

There is only one party that consistently threatens Social Security and Medicare cuts. Look in the mirror!

Both parties? Please!!!

So when Republicans say they’re scrapping it,Dems say no and that’s Dems being political? They should just stay quiet? Really

I don’t see Democrats who want to take away our Social Security and Medicare. That’s a republican thing. And it’s why republicans will lose.

It’s the Republican party who is using Social Security and Medicare as LEVERAGE. Cruz said the word leverage out loud. Hold him and McCarthy accountable. Stop blaming both parties for a Republican failure. Stop running away from the real problem again.

Too little, too late. YOU supported the insurrection. Traitor.

It’s just you guys. Stop lying.

Josh is just Joshing with you.

Dude, introduce legislation to get rid of the debt ceiling. It’s useless.

Is this a parody account? Did someone steal your phone?

Why the hell would any funding be related in any way to paying on past accrued debt?

We have no choice but to pay our past commitments.

Future spending is separate, and can be addressed in funding legislation.

Why do you hate clean bills so much?

Then can you clarify your stance on the 30% tax rate for middle class Americans?

Heh.

Geez. That’s great. I am pretty sure Social Security is not part of the national debt. I don’t trust you. Never will.

Both parties?
If people are scared by what the Dems are saying ant SS it’s bc it’s true. Which Democrats are talking about cutting back or privatizing SS? It’s all your miserable team.
How abt your team just not holding US debt hostage?

Social Security & Medicare do not contribute to the national debt, so when Republicans threaten to cut “entitlements” to reduce govt spending, it’s a lie. Republicans also threaten a govt shutdown over debt ceiling which halts SS & Medicare payments. Explain ‘exempting’. [….]

Your account has been hacked.

It’s gaslighting.

OK, who hacked Josh’s Twitter account?

You aren’t trustworthy so we assume you are grifting.

Way to use both parties to once again attempt to level the playing field after your party consistently looks for ways to cut these programs. Just like both parties were responsible for Jan 6, or for Charlottesville, or for disenfranchising voters, etc.

That’s how gaslighting works.

Your party has opposed Social Security from its enactment. The dream of the party has been to cut taxes to starve government and “reform” Social Security to “save” it for the last 43 years.

Was never allowed to watch a public broadcasting children’s show because….Satan!

You miss out on those early basics of critical thinking.

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn’t belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

From time to time a right wingnut concern troll will try to leave a comment here. Our system defaults to automatic moderation – that is, comments have to be approved. We don’t allow such comments to be linked to the original post, but on occasion, when we see fit, we’ll mock these attempts.

We see fit.

An attempted comment to a post about the priorities of the right wingnut republican controlled Missouri General Assembly:

Why not even the odds…why are you not doing the same on the Democrats? If your really concerned about inflation check on all parties Not just one!

Uh, actual reality:

Republicans maintain supermajority in Missouri Legislature following midterms
by Ryan Pivoney | November 10, 2022 at 4:03 a.m.

Republicans maintained their supermajority in both chambers of the Missouri General Assembly after Tuesday’s election.

Republicans hold 111 of the 163 seats in the Missouri House and 24 of the 34 seats in the state Senate, according to unofficial election results from the Missouri Secretary of State. Democrats have 52 seats in the House and 10 seats in the Senate. A two-thirds majority in both the House and Senate are needed to override governor vetoes.

Republicans have maintained control of both chambers for the past two decades.
[….]

Contemplate the meaning of a “veto proof majority” and how the Missouri General Assembly has operated for the past twenty years. You know, actually pay attention.

“…Even the odds…”

What is that supposed to mean?

Ignoranimus.

Today, from the third Senator from Virginia:

Josh Hawley @HawleyMO
We settled on ribs from @JDVance1 if (and when) he loses, KC Joe’s from me in the highly unlikely event the @Chiefs don’t prevail
12:27 PM · Jan 29, 2023

Josh (r) picked the Chiefs by an eight-ender.

Some of the responses:

“KC Joe’s” is in Kansas. Not Missouri. If you’re going to pretend to live here at least use google

All 3 locations are in Kansas.

Everyone’s crying because you didnt pick a MO BBQ joint. Might consider switching from Joe’s to Jack Stack.

It is really hard to tell from Virginia.

The senator that is supposed to be representing Missouri ordering from a Kansas restaurant from his home in Virginia is what is laughable.

Have you ever stepped foot in Missouri?

How sad is that? Why not just pick a VA BBQ joint Josh? You’re much more familiar with where those are located than anything on the MO side of the state line. [….]

Do they have a location in Virginia now?

If the Chiefs lose will you incite a riot at NFL HQ in New York and then run away in fear when it gets out of hand?

Heh.

You represent Missouri why would you bet Kansas barbecue?

That’s not in Missouri.

With a side of insurrection?

That one left a mark on the Constitution.

It’s tough when you don’t live in your state.

It’s Joe’s KC and that’s from Kansas, you fucking dolt.

Claire McCaskill @clairecmc
Ummmm. Just a heads up Josh. There are many many great KC BBQ joints in MISSOURI. Kinda awkward that you bet KANSAS BBQ. You need to get to Missouri more. I’d be happy to show you around. [….]

11:56 AM · Jan 23, 2023

What do ya got? A really unserious junior senator.

Some of the responses:

Setting the over/under on classified documents discovered on Trump properties if given the same level of access as Biden is giving the DOJ at 1200.

What do ya got?

Heh.

With or without obstruction charges? Both are egregious but one ex president really went the extra mile.

I’d rather you resign so we can have a more serious person representing Missouri in the U.S. Senate.

Well I got the fact that when Trump had hundreds of documents and willfully kept them your response was dismantle the government.

There’s that.

According to trump it’s ok to do this so don’t complain.

Nothing compared to the HUNDREDS of docs in Trump’s possession. Guess you are too busy spreading crap than doing your job

Why have you never once mentioned the hundreds of classified documents taken by your Orange god?? #Hypocrisy

We should set an over/under on you getting a second term. That’s something that I’d place a bet on.

Way less than your cult leader.

Were you upset when stolen top secret documents were found at trumpo’s home? If you didn’t say anything then, sit down and shut up. Effing hypocrite.

Another useless Senator from Missouri is what I got.

Well, the other one lives in Virginia.

I got an embarrassing senator…

Do you ever do anything constructive or how about some work for Missourians, no you just spend your time trying to stir up hate fear and anger

I raise you discovery at Mike Pence!

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner!

Save this tweet [….]

Heh.

Probably about the same number that they found in Pence’s house.

You’re fucking hilarious!

Maybe wasting time playing on Twitter wasn’t why taxpayers voted for you.

How about you stop embarrassing us in Missouri for once. Just shut your damn mouth. Where was your outrage over Trump’s classified docs?

Or Mike Pence (r)?
