A mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic is happening right now in Bollinger County at the Knights of Columbus in Leopold. Officials say they still have over 1,000 doses to give out. No appointment is necessary, but you can register before hand at MOStopsCOVID.com/navigator. The event goes until 5pm today. KFVS-TV

Bollinger County, Missouri has a population of a little over 12,000.

4:40 pm update: 648 shots administered. 1,302 still available

this is insanity. Can you find out what they’ll do with the leftover vaccine? Possibly send them to St. Louis?

I just got this answered! I was told they will not go to waste. They will be transferred to another agency following MO DHSS protocols!

So many thanks! My daughter made a mad dash, two and a half hours on a moment’s notice hoping that a shot might be there and it WAS!!!

What percentage of the population isn’t able to drop everything and make a mad dash? Just asking.

Thanks so much for the great lead! My daughter (an educator) is rushing there but coming from STL is still a couple of hours away. If anyone gets there and finds they’re out of vaccine, I’d appreciate an update so I could keep her from driving the rest of the way.

Can you confirm address? I’m struggling to find the exact location

This wasn’t advertised well. I live 15 miles from there and didn’t know it was open to the public. I have been waiting for a vaccine for over a month. I have had two appointments that were canceled. I Amon a waiting list. Frustrating!

Governor Mike Parson (r) [2018 file photo].

Missouri town with 65 residents receives nearly 2,000 vaccines for reasons unknown
February 25, 2021 Lucie Krisman

A mass vaccination clinic in Leopold, MO operated on a first-come-first-serve basis yesterday due to overallocation.

Gov. Mike Parson allocated almost 2,000 vaccines for the clinic. The Bollinger County town’s population of 65 did not fulfill that allocation, leading the health department to open the clinic up to anyone who wanted to be vaccinated.

[….]

In today’s COVID-19 press conference update, Gov. Mike Parson was asked if instances like this one, where rural counties have more shots than people showing up to get them, are a waste of vaccine.

“I’m not aware of that,” Parson says in response to the assertion that almost 66% of the clinic’s vaccines went unused. “Maybe you know more than what I evidently do, because I don’t think that’s the case at all.”

Killer defense, Mike. Great job.

While St. Louisans wait, rural vaccination events in Missouri have leftover doses
Governor Parson again defends vaccine distribution

EFFERSON CITY, MO (KMOX) -A Wednesday mass vaccination event in southeast Missouri’s Bollinger County, that saw only 648 of 1,950 available doses administered, has Missouri Governor Mike Parson defending the state’s distribution plan. Parson denied again that rural areas are getting more than their fair share of the vaccine. “The formula is the same wherever it is,” he says. “It’s based on the population where you are at so there’s nobody in rural Missouri getting vaccinated any more than anyone in urban areas. It’s just not happening.”

A state spokesperson says the 13 hundred doses that were not given out at the event, were sent to a major pharmacy in the area so they could be administered.

Thursday in northwestern Missouri, some 1,100 doses were sent to ta mass vaccination event in Princeton, Mo. Only 401 shots were given out Wednesday.

Josh Hawley @HawleyMO
The corporate left begins the banning of books. Openly and without apology. Welcome to the new normal
[….]
8:08 PM · Feb 22, 2021

The comments are hilarious:

You incited an insurrection and you’re polling at 1% for 2024… would you say it was worth it?

Thanks Josh. Any chance the book cancellation is about anything the author might have done to depress sales and turn off would be buyers?

Something about a raised fist? Just guessing.

Great brand brah

A school district in your state banned Kurt Vonnegut’s “Slaughterhouse Five,” but I’m sure you were fine with it.

Your book is available for pre-order–on Amazon, no less. It has not been banned. Also, you should resign over your role in the Jan. 6 riots that endangered your colleagues and killed five people.

You break your oath of office every day you don’t resign.

It’s so funny that party that celebrates banning books from public libraries gets in a hissy fit over private companies deciding what books they want on their own shelves. It’s almost like 2A is the first amendment they recognize.

Has your book been banned? I missed that. You must think your followers are stupid.

Well, if his followers are buying the “banned” rhetoric, are they not, in fact stupid? So I think he knows exactly who is followers are.

More grievance.

I don’t think you have enough of it in your heart.

Also, I am sure you can print your own book.

Timmy McVeigh, Junior, says what?

I think you have taken the rejection of your manifesto in a strange direction. Maybe publishers felt you were so off kilter that nobody wanted to hear what you had to say? Accept the feedback, it’s a gift, grow from it.

It’s the market. You love free markets. The free markets know your people don’t buy books as often and don’t want to offend those that do.

Capitalism.

“My God, they’re using our own weapons against us!”

Sorry Josh, insurrectionists don’t get to publish books. Do a Twitter thread. That’s all it’ll take.

It’s a free market.

America is sick of hearing you wing nuts gripe about not being heard.

Show some of the “Personal responsibility” you brag about and keep quiet.

Maybe that can’t be expected from people who supported overturning an election and a violent insurrection.

So the new “conservative approach is to have government FORCE corporations to carry speech they find necessary.

You’re a constitutional lawyer
Tell us what part of the constitution says the government gets to decide what speech is carried by a corporation.

Why are you so against the free market? What, you want the government to *force* bookt sellers to carry those books? Isn’t that kinda… Communist?

Fascist, actually.

I’ll might buy your book a year from now when it’s being sold at Dollar Tree or at a garage sale, so I can line my kitty liter pan!

Why would a private company want to associate with an author who lied in order to subvert an election and incited violence against the seat of the US government?

It’s the old normal. Publishers never did like to be associated with things the majority of people disapprove. This is why most fringe movements feature a wide selection of self-published literature, stapled together by the author.

The alternative is just as dystopic: publishers are forced to sell books they don’t want to sell. Now that is what sounds un-American.

Personally, I would be happy for you to fire up your stapler. You can make it look pretty snappy with PhotoShop, ya know. That’s your right.

I thought y’all loved it when private companies did whatever they wanted.

Wait, you want Congress to have more control over corporations, for example telling publishers what books they can and cant publish?

Wait, you want to tell a private corporation how to run their business? Whatever happen to Capitalism? Whatever happen to deregulation?

If he had a third side of his face to talk out of, he would.

What about his ass? He seems to talk out of it plenty.

Now that you mention it.

Better than inciting an insurrection openly and without apology. When are you going to resign?

Well?

Why do you believe that your words and actions should have no consequences?

Just bad business to publish a book that no one is interested in.

Heh.

It’s not censorship or anything else of the kind. It is akin to a publisher deciding not to publish Hitler’s Mein Kampf because it’s simply hate speech from traitors and cowards.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: There is no such thing as “the corporate left.”

Oxymoron.

Private companies choose what merchandise they want to carry. They can’t be forced to carry political and idealogical filth.

Feelings still hurt Josh? Need a safe space?

Seditionist. Don’t try try to change the subject.

That raised fist image is going to follow him everywhere.

Hes a f#ucking lawyer???!!! c
Clearly hes smart enough to know better, right? or is law school that easy?

He was a legacy?

Always playing the victim card.

Josh “anything I don’t like or understand is the left” Hawley.

Are you still whining about your former book deal man?

And on and on…

From Roy Blunt (r) on Friday:

BLUNT LEADS MISSOURI DELEGATION LETTER URGING FERC TO REVIEW & ADDRESS NATURAL GAS SUPPLY ISSUES
February 18, 2021

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) led a letter from members of the Missouri congressional delegation to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) urging the commission to quickly review and address concerns regarding the nation’s natural gas supply as weather-related energy demand spikes in Missouri and several other states.

“Due to the surge in energy demand across the state, residents have been experiencing electricity outages, rolling blackouts, and controlled service interruptions during an incredibly precarious time as temperatures continue to drop,” the members wrote. “Our offices have also received information suggesting that limited supplies of natural gas are also exacerbating the situation and are forcing utility providers to find alternative sources of energy during this time of emergency in an effort to provide reliable sources of power to residents and customers to heat their homes and keep businesses from operating or manufacturing. …

“We respectfully request FERC to expeditiously review the circumstances of this situation as it relates to natural gas supplies, the rates of interstate transmission of natural gas, and take the necessary steps needed to address this crisis.”

In addition to Blunt, the letter was signed by U.S. Senator Josh Hawley and U.S. Representatives Emanuel Cleaver, II, Blaine Luetkemeyer, Jason Smith, Sam Graves, Vicky Hartzler, Ann Wagner and Billy Long.

Full text of the letter below and here.

The Honorable Richard Glick
Chairman
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
888 First Street, NE
Washington, D.C. 20426

Dear Chairman Glick,

On behalf of our constituents, including residents, farmers, and businesses in Missouri, we write today to raise a dire situation relating to natural gas shortages in Missouri and across the Midwest as the increase in energy demand continues to strain the electric grid. We wanted to make certain that you and your fellow Commissioners are aware of the concern in an effort to ensure there is a continued supply of affordable natural gas in Midwest states.

Due to the surge in energy demand across the state, residents have been experiencing electricity outages, rolling blackouts, and controlled service interruptions during an incredibly precarious time as temperatures continue to drop. Our offices have also received information suggesting that limited supplies of natural gas are also exacerbating the situation and are forcing utility providers to find alternative sources of energy during this time of emergency in an effort to provide reliable sources of power to residents and customers to heat their homes and keep businesses from operating or manufacturing.

We appreciate the initial steps that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) have taken to date in opening a joint inquiry on the impacts of severe winter weather on grid operations. We respectfully request FERC to expeditiously review the circumstances of this situation as it relates to natural gas supplies, the rates of interstate transmission of natural gas, and take the necessary steps needed to address this crisis. In light of these challenges, we need to ensure there is an adequate supply of affordable energy and natural gas for families, farmers, and businesses in Missouri and the Midwest. We look forward to working with you and stand ready to assist in any way possible.

Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.

Sincere regards,
Roy Blunt, United States Senator

As usual, there was much hilarity in the comments:

I urge you to quickly confirm Biden’s cabinet so he has a remote chance of getting stuff fixed that you have ignored Or obstructed for years. You saying that SUDDENLY infrastructure is important, Roy? No kidding.

Regulation, too, apparently.

If @MissouriGOP wasn’t too busy supporting a dictatorship over the past four years they too could’ve been looking at solar and wind energy for Missouri .

There have been weather related instances over the past four years and @RoyBlunt has done what?

Photo oped w/ a dictator!

All it took was a new administration & some severe weather for you to get behind infrastructure week. Good to know what it takes to get your ear

When can we hear about the Republican healthcare plan that was always going to be announced 2 weeks from now over the past four years?

Or, just RUN to Cancun!

Yes let’s make sure but Texas did these to themselves to be separate was their decision and its all amount the wealthy owners of them power houses making money. Majority of the outage is N-Gas & Coal and not protecting from the cold. Gov & Cancun Ted & Rick Perry you can thank

There is more than enough supply or we wouldn’t be exporting so dang much of it. [….]
When private cos are allowed to ‘self-regulate’ – maintain infrastructure & equip w/o oversight, they will chose to cheap out to pocket the cash every time.

I’m sure Biden is already on it. Also, I haven’t forgotten that you voted to acquit the person who was responsible for the deaths at the Capitol on January 6th. So Roy…who won the Presidential election? Curious for your response!

Today I joined the people of 49 other states that are wondering how much we could get if we sold Missouri and what we could buy with the profits.

Empty words. Time for a change!!

I’m sure the oil & gas lobbyists that paid you $2.2M are very happy with your “hard work”

You surely did bc no one wants to end up like Teddy Cancun Cruz

Mr. Blunt,
1. Talk is cheap. “I led in urging…” lol!
2. Why is it up to the executive branch to act upon your concerns about energy security when there is a perfectly decent senate committee who is supposed to do just that, oversee nat. energy policy?
[….]

Why didn’t you do that four years ago

blow that smoke, Roy!… blow that smoke!…

Nice and vanilla, Roy

While you are at it, you might consider the impact of climate change.

@RoyBlunt You’re no leader. To lead you have to be in front. Not decades behind.

What have you been doing for 24 years?

He has a nice house.

You didn’t lead shit. You’re on your way out, lead that.

There you go.

Yesterday, more gaslighting as a way of life:

Rep. Vicky Hartzler @RepHartzler
America truly lost an icon today.

A native Missourian, Rush Limbaugh ushered in a new era of conservatism, championing freedom and the American Dream to millions of listeners over his accomplished radio career. May he rest in peace.
[….]
11:37 AM · Feb 17, 2021

And, as always, some of the responses:

This man brought unimaginable hate into the world. His only dream was for white supremacists to have the freedom to subjugate black and brown people.

You smile & pretend to be Christian, all while discriminating against anyone different from you. You spread hate just like him.

Remember that time when Rush made fun of Michael J. Fox’s disability? I hope there is a hell, I hope Limbaugh is in it & I hope he saves you a seat up front.

Rush Limbaugh led the way to the the coarsing of America’s social & political discourse. He & Newt Gingrich were yoked together in this effort. I, for one, will not miss his voice. He DID NOT deserve to be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Missouri’s SHAME.

I will thank him because as a little girl who was raised listening to him regularly I appreciate his being instrumental in making me the liberal Dem I am today.

The new age of conservatism that Rush Limbaugh ushered in has been defined by lies, hatred, extreme partisanship, and unadulterated ugliness.

Not all icons are worth celebrating.

Sure. You go and tell yourself that.

America certainly lost *something* today…I just hesitate to pin down what that something was, since it’s probably not the kind of thing you want to say in polite company.

I know, what’s the point of pretending? He was a divisive POS.

I’m not one to celebrate anyone’s death, but I am glad he can no longer spread hatred.

It’s ok when evil dies.

an icon of what, exactly?

racism and misogyny?

Icon? Division and hate is his legacy. Yours will be a complacent enabler.

One of America’s most “toxic” public personalities.

He was evil personified. His racist, misogynistic, hate-filled rhetoric will not be missed by sane Americans.

Oh, please. He’s torn apart countless families with his divisive BS rhetoric all for the love of fame, power, & money.

You are promoting a hate monger. Why are we not surprised

Pathetic

Of course you would praise him. You are as big a bigot as he was. To call him an icon is agreeing with his attacks against, not only the gay community, but all the other groups he targeted. You’re disgusting.

He was a hate-spewing, disgusting human.

You’ve expressed more empathy for this pill-popping bigot than you have for the Capitol officer who was killed by your party’s violent, paranoid mob.

The “American Dream”? Is that what right wingnuts are calling it these days?
