Josh Hawley (r) [2016 file photo].

Heh. A self-described “constitutional lawyer”:

A private corporation decided to end its contractual relationship with Josh Hawley (r). He’s upset:

Josh Hawley @HawleyMO
My statement on the woke mob at @simonschuster

What a dumbass.

“…It’s a direct assault on the First Amendment…”

You would think a self-proclaimed “Constitutional lawyer” would know.

One response:

Neal Katyal @neal_katyal
You know the first amendment like you know election law.

Also, from Josh Hawley (r): “…We’ll see you in court.”

Another response:

Chris Kelly @repckelly
Replying to @HawleyMO and @simonschuster
You say “See you in Court.” That will be a brand new experience for you.

Heh.

More responses to Josh Hawley:

Cry more, traitor.

This statement proves two things:

1. Josh Hawley doesn’t understand the First Amendment*.

2 Josh Hawley doesn’t understand capitalism**.

*It only applies to the govt, not corporations.

**Books by treasonous insurrectionists don’t make back their advance.

Josh Hawley, the guy who uses words like irregardless is mad about being dumped by a publisher

I’m personally committed to doing whatever I can to burn his career to the ground.

And a seditionist, and apparently a fascist.

They left out dumbass and asshole.

Of all the possible responses in your first Tweet after the deplorable actions of the seditious actions of the mob that breached our Capitol for the first time since 1814, this is your choice?

Out on the Internets:

“…Hey now he can self publish his book and save a bit on the cover art….”

Let this be known forever as a Sieg Hawley

Heh.

The First Amendment protects against punishment by the state for speech, but you know that, ya fucking hack. Looks like your bullshit, destructive 2024 pandering is gonna haunt you in more ways than one, huh?

Gee, when I went to Yale Law School, the faculty taught us that the First Amendment protected private speech from GOVERNMENT restraint, not the editorial decisions of private parties. Were you asleep in Con Law or has YLS decided not to teach it anymore?

#Sedition has its price. I know you’re doing this to make a name for yourself, but I hope it’s worth selling your soul.

History will not be kind.

Resign, fuckhead.

Hi Josh! Missouri constituent here. You were not representing me yesterday, but rather you were supporting a coup and perpetuating lies about election fraud

It’s not Orwellian for a private company to choose or not choose who they do business with.

By “cancel culture”, does he mean “being held accountable?” “Taking responsibility for the effects of his actions?” “Accepting the implications of the choices he made?”

This is terrible, Senator. Perhaps you can rename your book “My Struggle”.

That’s so very Fascist.

Constitutional lawyer doesn’t understand 1st Amendment. No wonder they canceled his book.

“I thought he was special. And I did my best to encourage people to support him both for attorney general and later the U.S. Senate — and it was the biggest mistake I’ve ever made in my life.” – Former Missouri Sen. Danforth (your mentor)

For someone touting to be an expert on Constitutional law, you’ve failed to grasp that the 1st Amendment applies solely to the actions of government. S&S made a business decision – as a publishing house they get to decide who to publish. And you’ll lose in court.

Has zero to do with the first amendment. 1A is specific towards the government not restricting free speech. Companies can freely choose who to do business with.

Josh, just release it in excerpts on Stormfront. They are your people now.

Hey @BadLegalTakes you saw this?

Can @Yale remove someone’s law degree for a combination of sedition and completely phony First Amendment claims?

S&S is not compelled to publish writing, nor are they compelled to keep writers on their roster.
They’re not cancelling him. They’re acting on the terms of the contract they have with Hawley – including that they can refuse to publish and not keep him in the stable.

Are you sure it’s Orwellian?

Maybe it’s Kafkaesque.

Irregardless, you being an alleged senator and all, maybe you should learn with the First Amendment is and what it isn’t.

They cancelled your contract because the book wouldn’t sell out as fast as you sold out the country.

Raise your hand if you understand that a private publisher is not a government actor.

Good job!

And on and on.
