Josh Hawley @HawleyMO
A moment of candor from Jen Psaki, in which she refers to the monopoly social media companies as “public platforms,” as in arms of the government
2:07 PM · Jul 16, 2021
As always, there is much hilarity in the responses:
But you know that, don’t you ….
A “private” platform is a closed one, in which, say, employees of the same company communicate and share information for work. Or, you know, the secret group some folks might have participated in to plan Jan 6.
We see what you did there.
Private business voluntarily cooperating w/govt to solve pressing public issue doesn’t mean business is arm of govt
But you know that
Don’t you need to push more people for vaccination in Missouri? Oh, I forgot you don’t live in that state.
Heh. The third Senator from Virginia (January 5, 2021)
“Monopoly” of “companies” – mono is supposed to mean 1, and public means available to anyone… ugh
Hawley says if he had been there he would have raised his fist in hopes of helping incite yet another insurrection!
Doesn’t mean that all. But continue to speak against big tech while using their platforms.
If she said “social media platforms” you would have accused her of being socialist.
Stores are “open to the public” which means you can go in and shop unless you give them a reason to escort you out or call the cops. Does that make them “arms of government”?
Oh give me a break guy. She means “public” in the sense that everything people write on there can be seen by the public. As in the posts they write are not private. But I’m sure you know that. Your spin for the sake of confusing people and holding onto your own power is showing.
Public, as what is published is available to all. Platform, as in platform.
And your point is…?
There is none.
Like open to the public. Like a store.
They ARE public platforms. They are open to the public within the rules established. That doesn’t make them non-private.
Sounds like you want interfere with private companies and do a little “cancel culture” on them.
None of these platforms are owned by the US Government. They broadcast publicly.
Josh, just can it. @PressSec owns everyone on every topic. I wouldn’t go to a debate with her.
Proof that one should have some appropriate prerequisites to run for federal offices.
Lol public platforms means a platform for the public can speak out, NOT the arm of a government. Where do you get THAT definition?
That’s what you took away? You worked hard on that spin.
Why not do something useful instead?
Lmao you’ll never be president
Imagine being Peter Doocy waking up each morning and thinking he’s so gonna own the libs with the question he plans. Then every day faceplanting himself
Then imagine Josh Hawley thinking that Peter Doocy the Fox nepotism hire is some sort of blazing intellectual tour de force.
This is all you’ve got? A turn of phrase from the Press Secretary is your whole justification for nationalizing a private enterprise? I see why you’ve never actually tried a case, Josh. You’re very bad at crafting compelling, or even logical and consistent, arguments.
Still missing the point Joshy. Misinformation is killing your constituents.
Planning any treason today?
You make me doubt you graduated elementary school, not just Yale.
Did you ever move back to Missouri?
Heh. The third Senator from Virginia (January 5, 2021)
I don’t think she means what you think she means, insurrectionist.
We need healthcare, quality education, good Union jobs and a clean environment. Nobody gives a shit about this.
The information posted is publicly available made so by a private corporation according to their terms of service. It isn’t “spying” if the data is available publicly. And the government does not ban anyone off these platforms. That help?
I wish I had your job, getting paid by taxpayers to bitch about twitter on twitter all day.
Can everyone say “Dunning Kruger”?
Good, because that’s what Hawley suffered from.
And in turn, we ALL suffer for it.
We should rename the country the Divided States of ‘Murika
Nice try Josh. To be a “public platform” a communication vehicle does not have to be an “arm of government.” You know that, yet you put it out to the gullible, low-info Trump/MAGA/GQP base. They’ll believe it although anyone with a double-digit IQ will call it out as BS.
A public platform is not an arm of the government.
What do you gain by displaying such ignorance?
Asking for a country.
I take it you didn’t do well in English classes.
Public platform doesn’t mean arms of government. Stop spreading misinformation
How does someone with such a low IQ pass Harvard? Did Daddy make a big donation to get you through law school? Hey, it worked for Trump. Public Josh means open and available to the public, not owned or managed by the government.
“…Now I know he went to Yale, I think, or Harvard, one of those, one of those fancy ones…” Senator Claire McCaskill (D) – town hall in Warrensburg – Press Q and A – August 17, 2017 (August 17, 2017)
What would you call them “private platforms”? They are very public–you look at them, I look at them. What is your point? Public does not always mean “government” you allegedly are a “constitutional lawyer” you should know that.
Didn’t people you went to school with say you were a fascist?
You’re really not good at this are you?
Do you really not understand what the “public” setting is when you post on a privately owned corporation’s social media site? Or are you lying to the public… again
How dumb is Josh Hawley? Everyone knows it’s a public platform because it is used by people – the public, but it’s run by a PRIVATE COMPANY and they can set their own conditions for users. If users don’t like the rules, then they don’t have to use the service.
You didn’t have many fiends growing up did you?
Wrong. As usual. Did you pay someone to take your exams for you?
You literally have no clue what your talking about
You lost your argument the moment you posted Peter Doocy.
