Jesus Christ is the answer.
[….]
10:32 PM · Mar 28, 2023

Some of the responses:

You’re kidding, right?

Unfortunately, No. This has been another edition of Short Answers to Simple Questions.

Jesus Christ helped me save 15% on my car insurance by telling me to switch to Geico.

He ain’t walking through that door.

The problem is, you don’t even care to understand the question.. so, when the going gets rough, you throw the name of Jesus around to cover your sins, bc you believe it can’t possibly be the guns? [….] IT’S THE GUNS MARK! [….]

Then why didn’t he protect the elementy school? Were they not praying hard enough?

He wasn’t the answer for people in a . Christian school. Kind of left his people high and dry there didn’t he

From the way you turned out, he doesn’t have much to be proud of. [….]

Responsible gun laws are the answer.

This is the all time laziest excuse for doing nothing.

[….] this is such a lame response

I hate when republicans invoke Christ and behave nothing like Him. Jesus would not recognize the Republican Party as Christians. Like the Bible says, “you’ll know them by their fruit.”

“What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?” James 2:14

Obviously Jesus wasn’t the answer. Self serving politicians aren’t the answer either. None of you have shown that you actually care for the safety of children.

Electing lawmakers with the guts to do what’s necessary to save lives in this country is the answer. You’re not one of them. Vote him out Missouri 4th.

Jesus Christ – or any other “God” – has no place in our government.

We need change and policies not thoughts and prayers .

Why didn’t he just stop the shooter then? Letting those children die seems kind of cruel, doesn’t it?

The question is: “Who is someone currently very disappointed in Mark Alford?”

Jesus isn’t bringing back those 9 year olds

JFC you’re an awful person!!!!

Jesus Christ is the answer.

“Can you name a fictional character?” is the question.

If your response to another incident of children being murdered en masse is a make believe man in the clouds, please, do this country a favor and get out of politics because you clearly have no intention of creating positive change.

How many prayers before he actually answers you Mark?

So if there’s a fire, you just pray that Jesus puts it out? If a kid is choking, you just pray about it?

If that’s the case, why have guns at all? Just use prayer.

Okay, that’s a reference to smiting…

Lmfao

I can’t believe people voted for you.

Jesus likes guns and shooting kids?

Mark, we did not elected to Congress to preach the word of God. We asked you to change policy. If that means sponsoring legislation that takes guns out of hands, that’s what it means. It’s not about who loves Jesus Christ.

I am still trying to understand how you got elected.

Mail.

You misspelled cheese and rice.

Would you wake up already? Ever wonder if God is trying to send our country a message or is that reserved for thinking God wants Trump to be President?

Oh. My. God.

Shut up you overgrown street reporter. You were terrible as a newscaster and now you are terrible as a Congressperson. I pray Jesus sends you a sign to mend the error of your ways.

I stopped believing in fairytales and fictional characters after the tooth fairy fucked me over at 8 years old.

Dayam.

How’d that work out for the poor families who lost their children at a Christian school?

I’m pretty sure our Jewish and Muslim friends would disagree MAGA Mark.

He’s not doing a thing to help his people. So I think we need another answer.

Helluva ratio ya got here buddy.

Your Jewish, Muslim, and Hindu constituents may need to be informed.

People like you are the reason thousands of Americans are leaving the church.

The degree of delusion that you and your ilk possess is nauseating. I hope Jesus can forgive you Mark, but it’s not likely.

Republicans not being NRA whores is the answer.

Evil, is the GOP being bought by the NRA. Evil is no red flag laws that would prevent the majority of mass shootings. Evil is the refusal to ban AR-15’s in our country because your hobby is more important than our safety. Evil is pretending guns aren’t the problem.

Red flag laws and banning AR-15’s is the answer. Stop the bs rhetoric. This trope is so freaking old. The facts are the facts. The US is a gun sick country, the ONLY gun sick country full of greedy, soulless politicians who have sold their souls to the NRA devil for power and $.

Apparently not considering where the shooting happened. Put down your Bible and do your God damn job

If Jesus Christ is the answer, then why do we need politicians? You were elected to do a job, not to use religion as a justification for inaction to suit your (GQP) agenda. [….]

Man if this imaginary guy is capable of stopping school shootings he sure seems like a pretty big asshole to let someone shoot up a building meant for children to worship him.

You are deluded. Utterly lost.

Your “thoughts and prayers” do sweet FA.

Open your eyes, look around. Look at countries with proper gun control, and look at the lack of school shootings.

You utter idiot.

No you dumbfuck forcing your fucking religion on us isn’t the answer. Legislating fucking gun laws is. Every other civilized country in the world does it to great effect. Just. Like. Healthcare.

Where the fuck has he been, Mark? If he is the answer, why do we need your incompetent self in Washington?

You are a Stupid Person.
Quit speaking out loud.
It annoys everyone else…

During today’s demonstration for trans rights in front of the capitol in Jefferson City open windows on the southeast front of the building had individuals watching the proceedings, with at least one of the open windows a source of loud music. Given the volume of the music the sound must have been deafening in the source office. It’s probable that these particular offices were those for republicans since the small Democratic minorities in either chamber do not get their pick of prime office real estate. We didn’t check, though.

The reactions were amusing. Once photographers started taking images of individuals standing at the windows, when those persons noticed the attention they were getting, they backed away from the windows or closed the windows. In one instance an individual standing at a closed window closed the blinds when they noticed cameras recording them.

A 400 mm lens will do that. Heh.

They were most probably republicans by their demeanor. We’ll correct the record if we’re mistaken.

Democrats were outside in solidarity with the demonstrators.

Eric Schmitt @Eric_Schmitt
The Covid vaccine mandates were stupid.

The Biden Administration fired over 8000 military men and women over it.

Today Secretary Austin admitted he’s doing nothing to get these well trained men and woman back.

This is nuts.
[….]
5:02 PM · Mar 28, 2023

Yes, you are, Eric (r). Stupid and nuts.

Some of the responses:

These people take literally dozens of vaccines in the military – and it was just this one they refused to take – for political reasons.

If a soldier refuses a life-saving vaccine, will he refuse to save a brother in arms? They weren’t fired. They QUIT. I don’t want them back.

This one wasn’t a vaccine, it was an experimental drug that effects your very DNA that was illegally pushed on a captive audience.

They exist, apparently.

It’s what happens when you have an illegitimate regime full of diversity hires

That would be classified as a particularly obvious dog whistle.

For starters dbag, it is essential that military personnel have the ability to follow orders and recognize the chain of command.

The GOP wud weaken our military command by giving every soldier a choice of which rules and commands to obey. Military cannot work that way. Talk abt a Banana Republic. Can you imagine the day when every “who ha” in the U.S. has assault weapons & answers to a militia ldr, perhaps w/ a swastika on his uniform?

Maybe they were extra, you know like the Twitter employees you laughed about.

They were in the military and refused to follow an order. Of course they were fired. They have shown they will not follow orders.

The military is about following orders, they were fired for not following orders. It’s pretty cut and dry.

no, they were fired for refusing to obey a lawful order.

bye, Felicia

They were ordered to get the vaccine. They didn’t follow the order so they deserve what they got. If you had served perhaps you’d understand what following lawful orders means. Instead you’re engaging in political theater to divide people. You’re a disgrace.

Eric, you are still stuck on Covid mandates?? You need to move on to something else that will actually help people, like banning assault type weapons, red flag laws, mandatory background checks for gun purchases. Any actual ideas for HELPING people, not just complaining!!

Your act is getting old

They made the choice to not have one vaccine. Their choice.
I’m fine if they don’t return. Follow guidelines or find a new career. The rest of us operate this way. Pretty simple.

If they cannot follow direct orders in peacetime what happens on the battlefield? They should not be in our military.

Look at Eric grandstanding!

It’s in his nature.

What are you doing about guns?

Don’t hold your breath.

Lost ball in high weeds. [….]

Heh.

You should follow your logic and get rid of TB, malaria, and other vaccines.

Diversity Hire Austin is a disgrace

That would be classified as a particularly obvious dog whistle.

Why would we want them back? It would deteriorate troop cohesion and make us less safe.

The vaccines saved lives, stay in your lane

They failed to comply with a lawful order.

We also know that to have a safe and well prepared military, they receive many vaccines to keep them safe in other parts of the world. COVID vaccines did the same.

Well, they didn’t follow the rules, so…

How many vaccines are the military required to have or get before enlisting @Eric_Schmitt?

What other vaccines should members of the military not take? Get real.

I was in the military , the thought of not taking a vaccine was & is asinine

It’s one of freaking how many shots they got to get. Waaaah waaaah waaaah

How many other military vaccine requirements can be ignored?

Military preparedness is vital to our national security. Our troops receive a whole battery of vaccines to maintain their health and fitness. That’s their duty. If a vocal few can’t take orders then they shouldn’t have volunteered for service.

You don’t fire the military you ridiculous clown. Learn something about the UCMJ genius.

The military mandates dozens of vaccines for personal. Why did they not refuse those vaccines?

What’s nuts is being beholden to right-wing fantasy. We can’t have insubordination in our military.

From the moment that they decide to join the military, they know that they are required to take all available vaccines. They were given a direct order and they defied that order, and they were relieved of duty.

The military already has a ton of other required vaccines. Why should we give a shit about this

The Covid mandates for the military were not stupid. The military has many vaccines requirements. Covid killed millions, and made people sick. The military made the right call. Eric Schmitt you are way out of your league on the medical issue. Sit down and shut up.

My immunization record in the military was three pages long; you obey orders or GTFO. So f$&@ off POS #MAGATerrorisTraitoRacist

[emphasis added]

Public Law No: 117-13 (05/20/2021)
COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act

This bill requires a designated officer or employee of the Department of Justice (DOJ) to facilitate the expedited review of hate crimes and reports of hate crimes.

DOJ must issue guidance for state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies on establishing online hate crime reporting processes, collecting data disaggregated by protected characteristic (e.g., race or national origin), and expanding education campaigns.

Additionally, DOJ and the Department of Health and Human Services must issue guidance aimed at raising awareness of hate crimes during the COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic.

The bill establishes grants for states to create state-run hate crimes reporting hotlines. It also authorizes grants for states and local governments to implement the National Incident-Based Reporting System and to conduct law enforcement activities or crime reduction programs to prevent, address, or respond to hate crimes.

Finally, in the case of an individual convicted of a hate crime offense and placed on supervised release, the bill allows a court to order that the individual participate in educational classes or community service as a condition of supervised release.

Josh Hawley @HawleyMO
When will the White House condemn this hate crime against Christian children and teachers
[….]
12:52 PM · Mar 28, 2023

Self-righteous cockwomble.

Some of the responses:

They have. It was another mass shooting. Everyone has condemned it.
Christians are not persecuted in America. But we do have a gun problem in America.

You, like Trump, are a white nationalist.

You are a deeply unserious fool.

Run josh, run!!

The WH has condemned the violence multiple times, against all of the violence, not just one specific group. That is the difference, Hawley. They condemn all violence. You only condemn it when it suits your purposes to do so. I remember how you behaved when Paul Pelosi was violently attacked. Where was your public apology for that hateful and sickening behavior? Where was your condemnation of your fellow MAGA politicians behavior?
This is why Biden is the sitting President, Hawley. Because he has at least respected America and Americans, be he a Democrat or not. You betray America, you discriminate and attack anyone not “MAGA”.
There are almost 300 million Americans out there who are NOT MAGA. We do not like your discrimination. If you want to spread hate, go to Russia or China where it is normal. Your fascist ways are not welcome in OUR government.

When will elected officials do something to actually prevent children dying in school?

Dems have condemned every school shooting. But condemning does nothing.
It’s the legislation that you oppose that at least gives us a chance.

They did that yesterday. Try to keep up. Why does it matter that the victims were at a Christian school? Have YOU condemned OTHER mass shootings based on the race/ethnicity of the victims….?

When will you stop using dog whistles?

Got news for you dude. Shooter was from highly religious Christian family.
[….]

Your mouth was silent on all other school shootings ..what Christians are above every other shooting? Hypocrite

It’s weird, because the “christians” are usually the ones doing the shooting.

Why do you assume it’s a hate crime? She was a former student. She had other ties to the school. We just don’t know at this point.

Christian on Christian violence? [….]

A. The murderer went to that school
B. Now your up in arms cause it’s a Christian school. Excuse me. A white Christian school.
C. No issue w El Paso, Buffalo, Club Q, Montery Park, et al
D. 2 yrs ago you voted No on a hate bill.
#GOPDomesticTerrorists
#GunControlNow

Did you sit around with your team all night workshopping how to get you the most attention out of this? “Should we use ‘massacre?’ That’s an emotionally charged word.”

“You know what plays well? Making it sound like a hate crime against Christians!”

You are pathetic.

A good share of children murdered have been Christians. Which should not determine how concerned you are. That makes no difference. A kid is a kid

Josh spewing hate while whining about a hate crime.

Every mass shooting is a hate crime. Is this one more important because it happened in a Christian school? How many Sandy Hook, Uvalde, Buffalo Topps, and the many thousands of other instances, victims were Christian? The loss of innocent lives, Christian or not needs to stop!!

There’s nothing rich white guys love more than pretending that they are the ones who are truly oppressed

Um. They have.

Interesting that Republicans say there is no such thing as a “hate crime” until it’s someone they hate committing the crime.

Stop trying to profit of this horrific tragedy. You look gross and Jesus is watching.

So it only a hate crime when it’s against Christians? Got it.

Tell us about the 1.3 million you received from the NRA

The fact that this is your focus, and not the proliferation of weapons that have resulted in over 100 mass shooting this year already, shows exactly where you get your talking points

When will you stop being ok with children being killed by guns

You are such an armchair Sunday Christian speaking out of both sides of your mouth! You are so pathetic! Where was this anger in Uvalde, Buffalo, all other mass shootings? Hypocrite

When will Josh Hawley condemn the gun violence everywhere and not just a Christian school? Where was he when mosques were being attacked? Other schools? That’s right. A meaningless “T&P” for the loved ones of kids murdered in school by violent people. Josh is only about Josh

How was it a hate crime when she was a student at the school?
Just stop it.

When will you DO SOMETHING besides ‘thoughts and prayers?’

Hawley, the NRA funded traitor and seditionist says what about guns killing innocent children and adults?
[….]

You’re a lowlife Sweetie

You are a disgusting disgraceful human being. Issue an apology to the parents of these CHILDREN. Quit twisting the narrative and FIX The Problem. You can stick your thoughts and prayers. #MAGAMoron

The White House condemns all gun violence. We’re all on that pedestal except you. Stop tweeting and go do your job.

Again, doing nothing

Josh Hawley (r) [2016 file photo].

This morning:

Josh Hawley @HawleyMO
THIS is the greatest challenge our nation faces – the loss of our common culture & the principles & beliefs that bind us together
[….]
9:16 AM · Mar 27, 2023

Have you ever bothered to read the Constitution, Josh (r)?

Some of the responses:

Trump is the manifestation of everything ugly in America. Racism. Sexism. Unfettered capitalism. Domestic terrorism. Repression. He is a cultivated and self-created weapon of entrenched corrupt power that feeds the rich and foils the true American promise of a better life for all

You have a news & entertainment media and an entire political party (Democrats) dividing the people 24/7, calling you racist, telling you it’s bad to be patriotic and closing churches, what do you expect? Sinister forces are trying to and succeeding at destroying America.

If people are calling you racist it’s probably because you’re racist. Who is closing churches? I mean they should be closing churches but I haven’t heard of any closing. The sinister force trying to destroy America just had a rally in Waco Texas.

We’re a land of diversity. Did you learn nothing in school?

No. This has been another edition of Short Answers to Simple Questions.

The peaceful transfer of power used to bind us together.
But you helped take care of that, didn’t you?

[Cheers on insurrectionists] Gosh whatever happened to a common sense of patriotism geez

ok insurrectionist

And now, like a grown up, assimilate the information and utilize it. Why do you think this is like this? What role does your seditious behavior play in it?

Look inward Josh. These items should never have been politicized.

Fueled by people like you and the former president—dividers all.

Keep your religious beliefs to yourself.

America is not interested!!!

Please, dude. Your supporters’ contributions to culture at this point are book banning and beating up drag queens.

What are these common cultures, principles and beliefs you speak of?

If you truly believed this you would no longer seek to divide. To other and dehumanize everyone who doesn’t looks act or think like you. But that’s all Rs do. It’s all they have. They no longer care to govern. Instead they legislate away the rights of anyone they don’t agree with

I do not share anything with the likes of you, pencil. You are a traitor to your oath. I will never forget that and nobody else should. If people stay away from religion, it’s because of phony Christians who think they’re on a mission to hate others not like themselves.

Keep allowing illegals to flood the border, and it’s only going to get worse!

No human being is illegal.

“No human is illegal”

Are these your white power concerns? You’re living in the past and nobody cares about your white power movement.

Of course it’s concerning, who would sign on to your definition of patriotism you traitor?

This is YOUR culture, not mine. Stop trying to turn this country into a whites only christofascist regime.

“Common culture” is rich coming from a Missouri Senator who doesn’t actually live in Missouri. How is the wealthy northern Virginia culture treating you?

This graphic gives me hope. While it does the opposite for you.

Josh tried to overthrow the government of the United States and now he’s worried about patriotism. I mean you can’t make this stuff up. [….]

This very same argument culture is changing, we’re losing our culture, been used many times in American history.

during emancipation.

during suffrage.

during the civil rights movement.

They claimed they were losing their culture back then as well

Because some of us don’t appreciate domestic terrorism. Remember #january6th.

Some of us don’t want to have kids. And some of us don’t support having our rights taken away in the name of some made up entity.

No one wants your patriotism if it means ignoring our problems.
No one wants your religion if it means we don’t help people.
No one wants childbearing if you’re going to let us die if things go wrong.
No one wants a community with bigots.
Wages aren’t enough to survive.

Yeah, it’s really awful that a country that was founded on democracy would have people who object to others controlling their reproductive organs, what they read, what they wear, who they love, and putting certain people above the rule of law.

Where do insurrections go on the graph, Josh? And obstruction of justice? And”death and destruction “?

Wait, what?

4th Congressional District, Donald Trump, former newsreader, Mark Alford, missouri, right wingnut, sycophant, that ridiculous hat

What about fluoridation? Micromanaging school sports participation? Diversity, equity, and inclusion? We can’t keep up.

Mark Alford @RepMarkAlford
If you’re not safe, then you’re not free.

That means securing our southern border and cleaning up our streets.

Some of the responses:

How can I feel safe when the NRA writes our gun laws? Children are allowed open carry. Educators and librarians are threatened by hired thugs who hide behind parental rights. Nothing or no one is safe when republicans are in control.

What’s your plan to secure the border? Will you vote for increased funding?

Also, you need to secure money to updgrade Missouri Highway 7 from 24 Highway to Harrisonville. Let’s see if you can get some Federal funding to clean up 7 Highway!

At least some politics is local.

When will you care about keeping children safe from mass shootings in our schools ?

Donald J Trump stated Mitch McConnell is the greatest threat to National Security in America. Donald J Trump is never wrong.

When will the GOP, Fox News, Newsmax and OANN demand Mitch McConnell resign due to being the greatest threat to National Security in America?

Heh.

Well, Mark (r)?

Is there a Louisiana, Missouri?*

Clay Higgins, libraries, Louisiana, right wingnut

* Why, yes, there is!

Last week from a right wingnut republican member of Congress from the state of Louisiana:

Rep. Clay Higgins @RepClayHiggins
Over time, American communities will build beautiful, church owned public-access libraries. I’m going to help these churches get funding. We will change the whole public library paradigm.

The libraries regular Americans recall are gone. They’ve become liberal grooming centers.

Clay Higgins (r) does not represent Missouri. I had to check, though. Heh.

Some of the responses:

Eat a roadkill armadillo, Clay.
When’s the last time you visited a library or read a book, ya doof?

Definitely never visited a public library.

have you considered seeing a therapist

Congrats man, you invented the dark ages

Heh. Someone just won the internets today.

What would you define as a “regular American?”

Dog whistle.

When was the last time you went to a library, or even read a book?

I love public and college libraries.
Have experienced zero grooming.
Stuffed my head full of facts & entertainment.
Ended up smarter than you.
(Grooming centers my ass. Went a couple days ago, & the librarian gave me a dirty look because my returned books had raindrops on them.)

Maybe you should’ve spent more time in libraries.
Might’ve ended up less dumb.
[….]

Rep. Higgins, I’m not sure “America but the Taliban are in charge” is quite the home run policy regime you seem to think it is.

“If a nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. An informed citizenry is at the heart of a dynamic democracy.” — Thomas Jefferson.

Awesome, my church, The Church Of Beezlebub at Beaver Lick , would like to be one of the first. Should I call your office Monday to discuss how we can get this going or do you prefer another way?

“Grooming center”… like a barbershop? [….] #HereForTheRatio

What tripe.
I am a retired school and public librarian. How dare you say defamatory and patently false things about my life’s work.
If you want a Christian library, go for it, but to say that we are ‘groomers’ because we don’t subscribe to YOUR religious viewpoint is outrageous.

If you don’t believe in separation of church and state then you clearly don’t believe in the Bill of rights, meaning you don’t believe in what this country stands for or what it was built on. Leave government.

We are not a christo fascist nation. Separation of church and state, bro — also, churches need to pay taxes. Thanks for playing.

Church controlled libraries. Now they wanna monitor what citizens can and cannot read. And tell me again how the Republican Party stands for freedom?

Tell me you haven’t been to a library without telling me you haven’t been to a library

HEY! This is not a police church state. I do not want religious zealots saying what is ok to read. What you find unacceptable, I call art. Some thing that a person poured their time and ideas into. I DO NOT WANT YOU BE A PART OF YOUR CHURCH STATE!

You are everything that’s wrong with this country.

The people complaining the most about libraries don’t actually read books.

which church will be the correct one? ?

The last library I went into was full of books that you could check out, and it was open to the public, and there was 0 grooming going on, there was however, a lot of people… wait for it… reading [….]

Thanks for being honest about your plan to steal federal funds for Christians, I guess

So you want to give churches my tax dollars to build public libraries?

Why wouldn’t we cut out the middle man and build public libraries ourselves?

Thanks for your steadfast work and your steadfast love of The Lord! We have a chance with men like you willing to step into the gap.

Fewer than 50% of Louisiana students read at grade level. Maybe focus on that.

That’s considered a feature, not a bug.

You can build all the private Christofascist grooming book deposits you want…it will never happen with public funds because we have a constitution. Or, you could all move to an island and start your own Christian theocracy. We’d help you all pack.

WTF are you talking about? Churches are free to have their own libraries, most do. Federal funding for that is a big NO NO. We like our public libraries just the way they are.

Publicly funded libraries have always been a point of pride for America. It’s insanity to suggest that this should be abolished and replaced with church libraries. Unpatriotic.

Which churches are to get funding?

Just purely as a nonsensical and useless hypothetical for you to consider when asked.

Just churches.

Shouldn’t you consider maybe reading a book first?

Baby steps. Chunk it out.

And then we’ll put these private libraries in castles with moats, and we’ll have wealthy people, we’ll call them “lords” who’ll oversee them and have the uneducated masses, “serfs” you might call them, work the land. It will be just like the good old days. [….]

Gated communities would work, too.

It’s almost as if libraries are places of learning, and their open-minded and accessible values threaten those who would thrive in a society that increases their privilege…

I’d much rather see you invest in a Time Machine so you can go back to the Middle Ages you long for.

How many books are you going to ban? How much art?

Most of it.

“Church-owned library” would be the most boring place ever, though. You’d limit the selections so tightly that it wouldn’t be worth visiting. You’d populate it with anti-history and anti-science horsepucky. No, thank you.

Christofascist flex, but ok.

This is the most offensive and vapid tweet I have seen in a long time. Nobody cares about your idea of a library. We want religion out of politics and libraries where anyone is welcomed! Go away!

No we will not. Churches have and will continue to have private libraries but they will not replace our public libraries ever.
Those I know about have almost exclusively religious texts, usually with an emphasis on those significant to beliefs.

Sounds like you want to restrict information.

Nothing like a religious institution moderating knowledge

You should pick up a book sometime and read about what happens when churches control the books.

Please, as if you even know what a library is.

So will these libraries of your fantasy adequately represent the non-Christians in our nation or are they fresh out of luck?

That’s considered a feature, not a bug.

Keep your church out of my books!
