Missouri barbecue.

Lucas Kunce (D) an announced candidate for the U.S. Senate seat in 2024 held a campaign event at Gates on Main in Kansas City, Missouri this evening. The location was no accident. Right, Josh (r)?

Lucas Kunce (D).

There was a crowd.

Lucas Kunce (D) spent most of the evening in the one-on-one conversations crucial to retail politics. He did briefly address the crowd about an hour in to the event.

Remarks: https://showmeprogress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/LucasKunceKCMOBBQ020923.mp3

There was Missouri barbecue:

You know, from Missouri. And it was good.

Rep. Peter Merideth @PeterforMO
Every MO R voted that children can carry guns in public. They voted to defund police if a cop helps stop a fed gun crime. They voted to ban a 12 year old rape victim with major health risks from having an abortion. Bills to ban mentioning racism or LGBT issues, ban drag….

Rep. Peter Merideth @PeterforMO
Kids carrying guns on the street or in a park is a matter of individual freedom and personal responsibility. Kids seeing a drag queen read a children’s book or sing a song is a danger the government must ban. Do I have that right MO GOP? #moleg

Rep. Peter Merideth @PeterforMO
That’s right. I choose not to own a gun so I can’t have opinions about gun laws. They CAN’T get pregnant but certainly don’t mind passing laws about pregnancy. And I bet most of them don’t know much about drugs but are happy to throw people in prison for those every day, too.

While the State of the Union was our focus last night, I’m more concerned with the state of the Presidency.

I went to the House floor to talk about it. #SOTU

Joe Biden kicked your asses.

Joe Biden (D) [2020 file photo].

Some of the responses to Mark Alford (r):

Why don’t you SHUT UP and stop embarrassing MO-4. You have NO EXPERTISE and your only claim is to have been a morning local news hack on FOX 4 News (bantering on flowers, traffic and food if that is news)

Once again @RepMarkAlford wandered onto the House floor to listen to himself talk. He feels that he is more competent than the President who has served as a leader in this country for 44 years while Mark was an anchor on a morning TV show with low ratings in a small market.

Dunning-Krueger Effect.

Blah blah blah you blowhard. Stop thinking youre more important than you really are.

So many angry Liberals in this thread. Mark, and his thought process and true Conservatism (not MAGA) is what we need in the Republican party.

I don’t live in his district but I am closely watching his work and supporting his mission.

Heh. “…don’t live in his district…”

You are full of hot air.

Right now Republicans in the MO House are fighting against an amendment that would say children can’t carry guns in public. (Yep it’s legal right now.) They’re saying it would violate the 2nd amendment to deny a 12 yr old the right to carry an AR-15 down the street. #moleg

That’s good to know.

Joe Biden (D) [2020 file photo].

FEBRUARY 07, 2023
Remarks of President Joe Biden – State of the Union Address as Prepared for Delivery
The United States Capitol

[….]Instead of making the wealthy pay their fair share, some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security to sunset every five years.

That means if Congress doesn’t vote to keep them, those programs will go away.

Other Republicans say if we don’t cut Social Security and Medicare, they’ll let America default on its debt for the first time in our history.

I won’t let that happen.

Social Security and Medicare are a lifeline for millions of seniors.

Americans have been paying into them with every single paycheck since they started working.

So tonight, let’s all agree to stand up for seniors. Stand up and show them we will not cut Social Security. We will not cut Medicare.

Those benefits belong to the American people. They earned them.

If anyone tries to cut Social Security, I will stop them. And if anyone tries to cut Medicare, I will stop them.

I will not allow them to be taken away.

Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever. [….]

Eric Schmitt (r) appears to have missed the exchanges during that portion of the address:

Eric Schmitt @Eric_Schmitt
Biden’s dispatch from fantasy land tonight will fall on deaf ears in middle America, where Missourians are facing the real impact of Biden’s disastrous policies.
9:42 PM · Feb 7, 2023

Right wingnut says what?

The responses are priceless:

Piper for Missouri @piper4missouri
You’ve done nothing for my state except pick on kids and teachers. Have a seat, friend.
9:49 PM · Feb 7, 2023

What have you done about it

Nothing
Zero
Zilch
Nil

Great track record Eric you’ve literally got a clean slate

You’re a Joke

You sold Missouri land to China.

Damn, you are working so hard to be a mini-me Josh.

Heh.

LMFAO your lies are crumbling

What have y’all done to help? What jobs or infrastructure have you brought to the state of Missouri.

See that you are Ted Cruz’ personal assistant. Good luck with that.

My state where you sold farmland to China? My ears heard everything, Blowtorch

I give him an A+ for that speech. wow.

Oops. You got huckabee to refute Biden’s knock ‘em out of the park SOTU speech. Good luck w that! Americas see the good Biden is summing for and all the good he has done. Gop has nothing. Literally nothing

Ummmm excuse me … who runs your disastrous state?

Protecting Social Security and Medicare, capping the price of insulin, all infrastructure supplies manufactured in America, putting people back to work … Yeah, I’m sure everyone will sleep right through it [….]

From Missouri Eric…he owned you tonight. Go about your lies however.

President Biden was on fire tonight! He fights for those of us in middle America unlike you! He wants to work with you/republicans for the better of all Americans. Why are you so defiant & opposed to working together to help Missourians & all Americans?

You’re running scared.

The third Senator from Virginia, too, probably.

The only people with deaf ears tonight were Congressional Republucans who couldn’t be bothered to applaud for lower drug costs, higher wages, or even democracy itself.

The only wagon you’re not ashamed is because you have no shame.

You are so out of touch with actual voters.

You got issues

so Midwesterners cant understand fighting for democracy, made in America, saving social security and lowering prescription drug prices? oh I think they do…

Dude, this is the best job market in a generation. We are getting infrastructure replaced because of Federal Funds, although it still will be subpar. State govt in MO could care less about it’s citizens.

Yeah. Doesn’t he know you can just sue China and MO school districts to solve all the nation’s problems?

He’s actually the one trying to help real, actual people. All you’ve ever done for us Missourians is political theatre. And bad theatre at that.

And on and on.

Eric Schmitt (r) [2022 file photo].

The third Senator from Virginia:

Josh Hawley @HawleyMO
Biden says he will fight for blue-collar workers … and then shuts down our pipelines, regulates our farms out of existence and tells everybody to buy electric cars
10:12 PM · Feb 7, 2023

Some of the responses:

Your colleague @Eric_Schmitt sold Missouri farmland to China. And we don’t need more pipelines. We need investment into the energy of the future which will produce millions of good paying blue-collar jobs.

ok insurrectionist

We don’t have farms anymore?!?!?!

12m new jobs bud

Republicans will cut Social Security and Medicare!!

517,000 jobs in January
11 million jobs in 2 years
unemployment at lowest level since 1969

The State of Our Union is STRONG

I’m confused Americans can’t make electric cars? Eric sold all the farmland to the Chinese. I know you’re young, but Reagan killed the family farm.

And you ran thr fastest sprint on Capitol grounds.
Be quiet coward

What’s the unemployment rate?

Shhhh.

Keep running Josh…..

Biden achievements..more than Trumps in two years.
Lowest unemployment since 1969
Infrastructure act
Chips and science act
etc
500000 jobs added.

Who exactly do you think makes electric cars?

Remind me – who sold Missouri’s farms to China? [….]

Who builds electric cars? Volunteers?

Dude. Pipelines are still being built. Crude is still being drilled. Corn is $7 a bushel and soybeans are $15 a bushel. This is the most profitable time of my career. Electric cars are the future for a significant portion. Get on board.

What regulations did Biden sign into law that l caused farms to cease to exist?

3.4% unemployment.

Oh is that why unemployment is at its lowest point?

Dude, you don’t even care about your constituents.

Are you saying those new manufacturing jobs are fake?

Because electric cars are built by Yale and Stanford grads?

We see what you did there.

Run away from facts, as usual.

And on and on…

“…Article came out…”

We’d pile on even more insults, but it’s a bit of a wasted effort when it flys over their litlle tinfoil propeller beanie covered heads.

From time to time a right wingnut concern troll will try to leave a comment here. Our system defaults to automatic moderation – that is, comments have to be approved. We don’t allow such comments to be linked to the original post, but on occasion, when we see fit, we’ll mock these attempts.

We see fit.

An attempted comment to one of our posts critical of yet another of Eric Schmitt’s (r) pandering balloon tweets:

Thanks Eric for Standing up against the Bidens administration China 1st policy , America’s National Security last. Those knocking President Tump for not taking out China Spy Balloons during his time in office, get your facts straight. Article came out General Milley did not inform President Trump about spy balloons over the Unitd States. General Milley said Trump was too aggressive. Since when is standing up for your country’s National Security too aggressive. Wake up all who watch the Fake News & do your own research instead of believing everything you see & hear. God Bless America.

“…Wake up all who watch the Fake News…” Heh.

cool. i’d like to know what other spy balloons trump allowed to fly over the country.

You’re an embarrassment to Missouri.

What do you call Trump hiding the fact this occurred 3 times during his administration?

It’s no wonder that your own party in the senate are already keeping their distance from you.

Joe Biden (D) [2014 file photo].

Where is your rage tweet about trumpy saying and doing nothing when they were overhead during his term?

To be fair, Eric Schmitt (r) was busy soliciting snitches and trying to sue school districts.

Will that investigation also look into the three times Chinese spy balloons invaded our airspace under Trump? And the coverup?

He followed the advice of the military regarding a military operation.

Who the f*** are you?

How long are you going to flail this dead horse?

Be sure to ask for an investigation of the three balloons over out territory during the Trump years, where he sat around watching tv and did nothing about them.

Doubling down on ignorance doesn’t play well when your audience is national, Senator. If you want to investigate, start with why the American people were not advised by the previous administration of 3 prior incidents of this nature.
