I refuse to stand by as Satanists challenge the sanctity of life. Add your name if you stand in support of #LIFE [….]
4:06 PM – 25 Oct 2017
The link goes to Ann Wagner’s campaign web site:
Satanists have teamed up with the ACLU and Planned Parenthood in Missouri to roll back the rights of the unborn. Help Ann fight back – add your name now to stand up for life.
Some of the responses on Twitter:
FOH. I don’t want to hear one word about the “sanctity of life” from the same crowd that refuses to do anything about mass shootings.
All hail the forced birth party! #forcedbirth
The Satanists have higher principles than you so-called Christians.
Apparently the real Church of Satan issued a statement:
We have nothing to do with this. Our statement: [….]
Nah. Even If I have to stand with satanists to protect a woman’s right to control her own health & reproductive choices, I will.
I support criminal investigations of all miscarriages too. Let’s get this ball rolling
Whatever drugs you’re currently taking need to be shared Ann.
I’m at Planned Parenthood right now, waiting for my annual exam. No Satanists here, as far as I can tell? You might want to visit sometime.
In the lobby there are several young women, one man, all the chairs are kinda dilapidated. No pentagrams, but there is a Rolling Stone issue
There are nice prints of flowers on the wall. Maybe the dance music on the radio has satanic lyrics if you play them backwards?
They are running a candy sale fundraiser (perhaps to help fund new chairs?). Perhaps M&Ms are a tool of Satan.
“Satanists”? Oh please.
hey, YOURE the one who wanted to give churches power to make decisions for individuals. Reap what you sow
Girl, what in God’s name are you talking about??
Ma’am put down the spray bottle of vinegar & step away from the tinfoil.
You are no better than Todd Akin was. I’m ashamed you represent my state.
Looks like somebody has been reading Brietbart
Hahaha. Silly person.
Hey we’re pretty nice heathens when you get to know us.
Nice bogeyman ya got there, Ann.
You simply are not capable of rational thought are you?
What on earth?
What the hell are you talking by about?
We see what you did there.
You do know that part of your brain can be used reasoning. Give it try.
Seriously?? Just stop.
Clearly, “sanity” is an imaginary concept, in your bunch! Whee-ooh, whee-ooh, that signpost up ahead, you’re lost in the Twilight Zone!
If this is your Halloween tweet, it’s scaring the bejeesus out of me. Get help!
This is a joke, right?
Um, probably not.
There are no words. Get help.
uhhh… don’t look now…but I’m pretty sure you’re completely insane.
What in the holy hell are you talking about? My word lady take a breather.
Satan is behind cutting off healthcare for millions of children too.
you seem fun.
Did you hit your head?
Lady, you cray.
My god, you’re a whack job.
What is wrong with you?
Geezus you’re a complete nutcase
Delete your account
I see that avoiding town hall meetings have driven you insane. #UnfitForOffice
You are friggin insane!!!
You are a complete loon
You seem quite stupid.
Representative Ann Wagner (r) today, via Twitter:
Ann Wagner @RepAnnWagner
Kicking off my townhall in Chesterfield at RGA! Thanks to the 300 Missourians for attending!
2:57 PM – 29 Aug 2017
Some of the responses:
This is not a townhall. They are at work. Perhaps you could hold a real town hall w/ constituents. How can u represent us if u ignore us?
Why wasn’t this event open to the public? Your constituents in the 2nd (including me) weren’t able to attend. That’s not a Town Hall!…
It’s not even listed on your webpage. But you sure do have a very visible picture of you next to Trump!
You could have spoken to a much larger crowd if this event were open to the public. It’s not a “town hall” when the “town” is not invited.
Ann you’re better than this …
I am a registered voter in Chesterfield. How did you announce you were holding one? By carrier pigeon? Mine got lost in the “air” mail.
This is not a town hall so quit lying! Ask Sen. McCaskill to give you lessons on town halls for all people not just who you want to attend!
And again, this is a rep that thinks they have nothing to worry abt in 2018. #voteannout2018
So you’re going to brag about it on twitter, but where was the announcement?
– a voting constituent
“Thanks to my captive audience of RGA employees. They’ll sign up to hear anyone speak to get a little time away from their desks!”
Speaking to workers in the the middle of a work day is not a townhall #coward
How many times have I called and asked for a town hall? Where was this publicized? Why wasn’t I invited?
Hey Ann! Talked to your staff – why didn’t you let them know you had a Town Hall. They were Clueless!
.@RepAnnWagner hosting an “invitation-only” meeting…2nd District Constituents not invited. This was not a public event. #NotOk
A TH is where constituents have the opportunity to stand up in a public meeting and question you on issues; not A$$-kissing private events.
Real town halls are publicized and open to all. This is no more a town hall than Harlem Globetrotters vs NJ Generals is a basketball game.
That’s not a townhall according to American political tradition. It is not an open event.
Nope. #notatownhall. Why are you afraid of your constituents?
Fake News! How do you call a staged private event with paid attendees a town hall? Did you you answer staff-planted Q’s with relative ease?
At 3pm on a Tuesday? And why was I not aware? I’ve been asking.
That is not a Town Hall, that is a chamber event you were invited to.
If it’s not open to the public, it’s NOT a town hall, Congresswoman.
But Ann, you didn’t invite the townsfolk to your Town Hall!
Didn’t want to face your constituents? Phony town hall. Can you say BS???
And on and on…
Rep. Vicky Hartzler (r) – about those constituent meetings (August 23, 2017)
Bill Otto (D) has announced he’s a candidate for Congress in the 2nd Congressional District. The seat is currently held by Ann Wagner (r).
Bill Otto, a two-term State Representative (D-70th District), three-term Bridgeton councilman, Navy veteran, and retired air traffic controller, announced today that he will seek the Democratic nomination for Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District.
Governor Jay Nixon, Senator Claire McCaskill, and Secretary of State Jason Kander carried this swing district in 2012. This district includes portions of St. Louis and St. Charles counties, and is currently represented by Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R). As a state representative from this area, every day Bill Otto fights for the clean-up of the burning nuclear waste in the Bridgeton landfill, an out of control situation that has greatly impacted the citizens of the 2nd District.
Otto believes that American is full of promise for those who reach for it. When he was 15-years old, his mother died and the state placed Bill in a boys’ home. On his 17th birthday he aged out of the state care system and found himself on the street – no family, no place to go, a homeless teen.
“It was a tough start, but with the encouragement and support from some amazing teachers and mentors, I attended college,” said Otto. “Later I joined the Navy where I served for seven years and learned a profession that would last a lifetime.”
As a state legislator, Otto fights every day for issues that matter to the hard working men and women he represents: defending the rights of citizens who live around the burning radioactive landfill, ensuring workers’ rights, making sure veterans get the respect and benefits they deserve, and protecting the American Dream for families, a dream that is being severely eroded.
“Congresswoman Wagner has simply dropped the ball in representing us,” Otto continued. “We need a representative who understands our needs and puts us ahead of their personal political ambitions, a person who is more concerned about the people of our District than their political party, a person who can truly work across the aisle, make the hard decisions, and then is willing to come home to explain their actions.
“The working men and women of this District deserve better representation in Washington, and I will work day and night to give them just that,” Otto emphasized.
This says it all, in today’s St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
There’s a saying in politics that elections are won by those who show up. Perhaps that’s so for voters, but a key part of U.S. Rep. Ann Wagner’s strategy for re-election in Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District is to not show up.
She’s raised a lot of money – $2.19 million. She appears in controlled settings for photo-ops with friendly faces. She avoids going anywhere near her opponents.
Good luck asking about it: The contact number listed on her campaign’s website is not a working number. The email address for media inquiries gets you a 404 error message.
The 52-year-old Ballwin Republican knows the election is hers to lose….
….We had hoped for a more independent voice when we endorsed Ms. Wagner in 2012. This time around, we recommend that 2nd District voters choose Democrat Arthur Lieber of Creve Coeur….
….he’s right: Campaign money is the root of all evil in politics. Arthur Lieber is not afraid to show up and say so.
Maybe at some point in the future incumbents with access to unlimited funds won’t have to worry about those pesky voters. Oh, wait…
If you live in the Kansas City media market you get the benefit of being exposed to campaign ads for both Missouri and Kansas. Since there’s not a lot of top of the ballot action in Missouri this election cycle and there’s a whole lot of upset in the wind in Kansas we’ve been exposed to a significant number of Kansas campaign television ads. Representative Lynn Jenkins’s (r) campaign has been running this ad a lot:
Lynn Jenkins (r): My whole life I’ve been guided by certain values – hard work, being frugal and accountable. It’s why I became CPA. And it’s why, in Congress, I’ve cut my own office budget, returned over half a million dollars to the Treasury to pay down the debt. And I’ve never taken a pay raise. Because the way I see it, it’s not the government’s money, it’s your money. I’m Lynn Jenkins and I approve this message.
Did that $500,000.00 cut in her Congressional office budget come in franking (mail) or staffing constituent services? We don’t know, but there is a significant difference therein. We’ve never understood the right wingnut “I’ve never taken a pay raise” meme either. Are they saying that only wealthy people who can afford to keep a home in their District and in Washington should run for Congress? That doesn’t sound too conducive to representing the nation as a whole, does it?
So, we’re seeing a lot of the ad on television. This from a member of Congress in a supposedly “safe” seat who has a lot more available campaign cash than her opponent. Or is it a safe seat?
And then, today, via Twitter we see this, from Margie Wakefield (D) who is challenging incumbent Lynn Jenkins (r) in the 2nd Congressional District race:
Margie Wakefield @MargieforKS
We’ve known all along that Jenkins is in trouble. Now, her friends in GOP leadership know it, too. From @politico [….]12:37 PM – 13 Oct 2014
Heh. That’s why you challenge the incumbents in every race.
Ding, dong, DOMA’s dead (June 26, 2013)
Last plaintiff without standing (June 26, 2013)
A statement released today by Representative Ann Wagner (r) in reference to today’s two U.S. Supreme Court decisions on the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California’s Proposition 8:
Wagner Statement on Supreme Court’s Ruling on DOMA and Prop 8
Jun 26, 2013
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Defense of Marriage Act and Proposition 8:
“I believe in the sanctity of traditional marriage and believe that it should be up to states’ to determine the definition of marriage. The people of Missouri have spoken and over 70% of Missourians’ decided that marriage should be between one man and one woman. I will always support states’ rights and the people of Missouri have made their decision.”
I wonder if she’ll join Representative Vicky Hartzler (r) in sponsoring those constitutional amendments banning divorce and enforcing shotgun weddings. Nah. States’ rights.
Rep. Vicky Hartzler (r): maybe if corporations were women… (February 28, 2013)
From Representative Ann Wagner (r):
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
February 28, 2013
WASHINGTON , D.C. – Representative Ann Wagner (R-MO) today issued the following statement after voting for the House amendment to S. 47, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013:
“Today I was pleased to stand up for all women who are victims of violence and abuse. As a result, I voted for the strongest bill that would protect all women from acts of violence and help law enforcement prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law. I am committed to protecting all women from domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. This is not a political issue and Senate and House Democrats who have chosen to politicize the safety of women in the United States should be ashamed. This is exactly what is wrong with Washington and why the American people no longer trust what comes out of Congress. The people of Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District expect leaders to lead and get the job done and that is what I will continue to do.”
Uh, except Representative Wagner(r) voted against the bill:

Unless, of course, LGBT women and Native American women aren’t
….Representative Gwen Moore, Democrat of Wisconsin and a victim of domestic and sexual violence herself, spoke passionately about the need to pass the Senate’s reauthorization bill.
“I pray that this body will do as the Senate has done and come together as one to protect all women from violence,” Ms. Moore said. “As I think about the L.G.B.T. victims who are not here, the native women who are not here, the immigrants who aren’t in this bill, I would say, as Sojourner Truth would say, ‘Ain’t they women?'”
“Ain’t they women?” she repeated, emphatically….
