Matthew Cooke:

The transcript:

This is a wake-up call for republicans.

America elected Joe Biden by over 7 million votes and you’re confused because you didn’t see us flock to his rallies and cheer his smackdowns like we were at a pro wrestling event during a global pandemic.

We don’t wear matching hats or have “No More Malarkey” flags waving from the backs of our trucks. Do you know why? Because Biden is not our tribal warlord. We believe the job of a U.S. president is to represent more than one interest group. That’s why 81 million of us turned out to stop a narcissistic personality cult that embodies all seven of the deadly sins, most of all pride, which you’ve taken to levels of blasphemy, claiming your political leaders are handpicked by Jesus Christ.

This country is called the United States and we have multiple converging crises that need adult supervision. But we are being distracted trying to get control over a critical mass of you who no longer believe in reality, who’ve been hypnotized to fear a Joe Biden presidency whenever you hear the trigger words radical socialist.

Never mind that Biden is backed by America’s billionaires whose existence depend on corporate capitalism. So your cognitive dissonance is staggering but understandable because the most sophisticated mass media tools ever created have eviscerated your powers of discernment. And there’s a gold rush on slinging alternative facts making millions for opportunists who’ve taken you for quite a ride.

But you need to wake up now and start the deprogramming. The election was not stolen. All that proof you kept sharing about suitcases and duffel bags of discarded ballots? It’s all been debunked.

All the affidavits claiming widespread fraud have been thrown out – over 60 lawsuits contesting the election in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin – republican states, many of the cases overseen by republican and Trump appointed judges.

61 cases tossed out. Trump’s hack attorneys are being sued or are under threat of disbarment. That’s consistent with the countless criminal prosecutions of many former Trump associates.

But the PR stunt worked on the tens of millions of americans primed for mass hysteria. You succumbed to Salem witch trial levels of mental lapse, believing our elections were stolen based on spectral evidence, dreams about krakens which are make-believe.

It’s time to wake up now.

Black Lives Matter is not a terrorist organization any more than Martin Luther King, Jr was a terrorist or Gandhi or Nelson Mandela. Peaceful protests and strikes and boycotts. That’s how a society creates change without violence. Everybody reasonable knows that violence and looting and murder are wrong and counterproductive to a peaceful society. That’s why everybody reasonable condemns militarized cops executing citizens over cigarettes, cell phones, driving, jogging, walking, sleeping, resisting execution. That’s what Black Lives Matter has been protesting. This isn’t a partisan issue, it’s the largest civil rights movement in the history of the nation.

You need to wake up now.

If you join Black Lives Matter then all lives will matter. If it helps you understand it better, shut your eyes. Say to yourself, my life matters and Black Lives Matter.

If we unite there’s hope we can end the savage practice of imprisoning millions of people for the crime of being black or brown or poor.

Atoning for and correcting the mistakes of our ancestors does not mean the next logical step is white genocide, unless you think the legitimate purpose of the criminal justice system is to protect white supremacy like it has up until this moment. If that’s your underlying premise you’re a racist. That’s why you wave a confederate flag. You just doxed yourself and you need conversion therapy.

Time to wake up.

There’s no national Antifa network pretending to be Fascist Trump supporters who want civil war. Antifa are anti-fascists who only exist right now because there are Fascist Trump supporters threatening civil war, inspired by the official republican platform which doesn’t have anything in it other than clinical paranoia re-educating you to believe there’s a conspiracy to seize your guns and gender identity at the same time so you’re so disoriented you can’t defend yourself against a mass immigrant invasion threatening your livelihood.

Come on.

The real danger came from putting a recklessly uneducated man with a personality disorder in the White House who spent his one catastrophic term branding America’s Democratic cities enemies of the country while taking credit for economic growth rates he inherited from a Democrat.

He and his republican Senate, under the smoke screen of your disassociation from reality and the brand name “drain the swamp,” filled the cabinet with profiteers like themselves. Billionaires made a trillion bucks while they gutted our State Department, our FBI, our CIA, our dDHS, our Post Office.

Whatever Trump touched he wrecked. They attacked our U.S. education system, they tore down the minimal regulations that we have protecting america’s water and air, they turned our already abysmal borders into a human rights crisis, they smeared america’s top scientists and doctors, our health care system. They attacked our entire U.S. media.

Their willful incompetence has been so destructive the USA is the epicenter of the worst pandemic in a hundred years. Hundreds of thousands of us are dead, millions are hungry and struggling to survive, and their final act was a massive campaign to try to sabotage the bedrock upon which we stand, American Democracy itself.

This is on you, the republican party.

The majority of white America elected a man whose business model is lying, who demands total obedience while swindling and eventually turning on all of his employees and followers after years of abuse. You elected a perfect cult leader. Our enemies are ecstatic. Our allies are horrified because of the suicidal republican ideology of opposing any limits on gluttony and greed. What was once a beacon of hope all over the world, American Democracy, is no longer a given. Your right-wing leaders and shouting heads, they’re not going to stop clawing their way down a bottomless pit of excuses to continue profiting off of selling you a virtual alternate reality made up of false accusations and revenge fantasies giving you a persecution complex. They won’t stop feeding no matter how many of you are driven right off the deep end.

Any citizen of the United States continuing to fall for it, some of you thinking of taking up arms against the strongest military power on earth, others making excuses for these terrorists because you share the same beliefs, you’re delusional. You don’t have a political party anymore. Come back to reality.

January 6, 2021, that was your come to Jesus moment. Armed insurgents threatened to hang the Vice President, kill the Speaker of the House. They dragged a cop down a flight of stairs and brutally beat another with an American flag. They killed police. A suicidal Q anon follower gave her life trying to break into the House chamber. For what?

The most significant terror attack on our country since 9-11 happened because republican radicals believe Democrats are Satan worshiping pedophiles who stole their country and they’d rather die than lose the protection of their leader.

Defending truth and democracy and equality for all people against any tyranny, foreign and domestic, is the only thing that unites us and protects our freedoms. That’s why Trump is being held accountable for his crimes, along with every Congressperson, every official, every officer, who conspired or continues to wage a mass deception campaign to overthrow American Democracy, especially under the threat of violence.

The First Amendment protects our right to express ourselves without fear of arrest. The right to free speech does not include threats of violence and it certainly does not grant the authority to force media platforms to broadcast single-party hate propaganda that claim only its members are the real America.

For the former republican party who call themselves patriots, this is your wake-up call.

Your nightmare of a brainwashed radical anti-American movement trying to destroy the country was you.

Here we are.

Josh Hawley (r) [2016 file photo].

We are Americans committed to the rule of law. We watched in horror at the insurrection of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

The mob of seditionists who stormed the seat of American democracy were inspired and supported by several members of Congress including U.S. Senator Josh Hawley and others.

Just Oust Seditious Hacks PAC (JOSHPAC) is a permanent effort to call these irresponsible officials out for who they are – Traitors.

A video from Josh PAC:

The transcript:

It started with a lie.

Are you trying to say that as of January 20th that President Trump will still be president?

Josh Hawley: “Well Brett, that de,that depends on what happens on Wednesday.”

Shots have been fired inside the Capitol building.

The Capitol being overrun, lawmakers diving for cover, hearing flashbangs, armed standoff at the doors of the House floor.

Missouri Senator Josh Hawley helped to incite the riot at the U.S Capitol, fanning the flames of a lie. Hawley spearheaded the movement to object to the Electoral College certification. At the Capitol with his fists raised, gave a supportive fist to the insurrectionists as they descended on the capitol and then sent out a fundraising text message during its invasion.

Hawley was dropped by donors and disavowed by his mentor John Danforth. Four people died in the chaos. The Kansas City Star writes plainly that he has quote blood on his hands.

Senators swear an oath to the Constitution and loyalty to this country, not aid and abet an attempted coup against both.

This will not be the last of these.

Some of the comments:

You just knew Missouri state rep Justin Hill would finally get the praise he deserves.

Calling it ‘cancel culture’ when good people refuse to stand silently by while you work to destroy the country allows you to pretend that you didn’t wreck your own life.

Your life is still wrecked, though.

They are always the victims. Always. An entire political movement built partially on a refusal to take personal responsibility for anything, to feel constantly ignored, put upon, persecuted. They are addicted to feeling like victims.

What he is referring to as ‘cancel culture’ is more accurately ‘consequences culture.’ In other words, your actions, who you support, and what you say have consequences, and sometimes they may not be to your liking. This is also called “adult culture.”

What happened to personal responsibility?

Bhahahahaha
Snowflake!

Cancel Culture is the GOP wanting to cancel the election and disenfranchise millions of voters.

Why should this be surprising to this guy? I wouldn’t knowingly do business with a Nazi, a KKK member, etc. You either believe in markets & capitalism or you don’t. The market is solving the problem. Now let’s hope this post goes viral and he loses even more business.

We feel for you, snowflake.

“Cancel culture” is a funny way of spelling “consequences of actions.”

I’m not understanding the correlation. How is firing your insurance agent for insurrection “cancel culture”?

You take the ride, you pay the price.

It’s almost as if siding with insurrectionists to overthrow the legitimate government of the United States makes you unpopular or something. That’s so unfair.

I’m old enough to remember when people like that used to complain that the problem with society today is that young people today are growing up without rules and consequences.

He literally took part in trying to cancel the votes of 81,283,485 people, 51.4% of votes cast.

Who would want to do business with an American traitor?

Cancel culture? Maybe simply principled customers with freedom to choose where they spend their money.

It’s not cancel culture. It’s called accountability.

There are consequences to be seditionist. You’ll just have to live with them.

You made your choice, buddy.

One of my favorite sayings:
“You can have anything you want in life, as long as you’re willing to pay the price.”

Hope you enjoyed your trip to DC.

And on and on.

Josh Hawley (r) [2016 file photo].

Yesterday, via Twitter:

How angelic.

Senator Hawley Press Office @SenHawleyPress
“Many, many citizens in Missouri have deep concerns about election integrity,” Hawley writes.

“They have a right to be heard in Congress. And as their representative, it is my duty to speak on their behalf. That is just what I did last week.”

What an asshole.

Some of the responses:

Joshua, the majority of Missourians do not have deep concerns about the election.

You’d know that if you ever step foot here.

Your duty is to honor your oath to the Constitution–which means upholding our electoral process–even if your base believes the lies you told them.

After you have fully swallowed the Big Lie, the only choice is to keep lying. You can’t turn back once you’ve gone this far.

“Many, many citizens in Missouri have been lied to non-stop about election integrity.”

“They have a right to hear the truth. And as their representative, it is my duty to speak truth to them. But when the truth and my political ambitions are at odds, truth loses.”

@HawleyMO either doesn’t understand how the First Amendment works or assumes that his constituents do not understand how the first amendment works. Either way is frustrating and disconcerting.

So I can understand; you exhort the mob but when the mob becomes lawless you stand for the principle that the mob is being lawless about so that violence is overcome

“I will not bow to a lawless mob, or allow criminals to drown out the legitimate concerns of my constituents”

keep dreaming… it’s good to have fantasies

Typically what happens when their leaders LIE to them. It’s the self-licking ice cream cone.

Hawley didn’t bow to a lawless mob – he saluted them.

And that tells the whole story.

How many tours of the capitol did he give after the photo shoot?

They have concerns because you lied to them and told them they should have concerns.

Tell them you lied. Tell them the truth about the election. Tell them you deliberately incited insurrection to advance your political career. Resign. Go to jail.

Do your duty.

Missourians have a right not to have their senator spreading seditious lies.

They have deep concerns because y’all freaking told them to have deep concerns. It’s your job to tell them the truth. If 70% of your constituents think the sky is pink, no it’s not your job to introduce a bill stating so. It’s your job to tell them it’s not.

“Irregardless” of what he will say,
Josh has thrown his whole future away.
Even @Hallmark is woke
to the fact he’s a joke.
Insurrection: a poor hand to play.
Although Hawley is but 41,
his political future is done.
[….]

Your staff who helped you write this will never be able to clean off the blood from their hands.

Out, out, damn Trump.

I’m your constituent. Joe Biden won a fair election. If anyone has concerns, it’s bc you lied & misled them. There’s been no evidence of voter fraud affecting the outcome of this election. You are smart enough to know that & chose to mislead & damage democracy for political gain

well sparky, they have concerns ’cause you keep lying to them about a “steal” that didn’t happen. You have that Ivy League Degree, surely even you can figure out that the solution to that problem is not to amplify that lie further, & rather find the courage to tell MO the truth

What he did was an embarrassment to all Missourians. There is no sugar coating it. He attempted to subvert democracy in a free and fair election. If I rob a bank, I cant claim it was to raise concerns about interest rates because I wear a shirt that says lower interest rates.

Please do explain how 60+ courts with experienced judges got it all wrong but Genius Boy Josh Hawley got it all right.

‘Cause he says he’s a “Constitutional lawyer.”

Politics would have a lot more integrity if you weren’t participating, Josh.

Dayam. That one left a mark.

They have concerns since they believed lies from Trump, GOP, wacko lawyers, and right wing media over the 64 lost court cases. Just because you didn’t like how some states made it safer to vote during the pandemic doesn’t mean their votes should be thrown out.

Most people just concerned about face painted thugs killing people inside the Capitol. Everything else pales in comparison.

I have a deep concern about your residence and it is shared by millions of us.

Resign

Shhh, we know what you are.

4th Congressional District, Capitol breach, Donald Trump, gaslighting, impeachment, Insurrection, missouri, sedition, Vicky Hartzler

Representative Vicky Hartzler (r) [2016 file photo].

Hartzler Statement on House Impeachment Vote
January 13, 2021 Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-04) issued the following statement this afternoon rejecting the House’s vote on an article of impeachment against President Trump:

“America is hurting. After a year of riots in our streets, COVID restrictions and health challenges, and a contentious election, our citizens need healing — not further actions which tear us apart. This latest push by Speaker Pelosi and Democrats to impeach a duly-elected president seven days shy of leaving office does nothing to bridge this gap or work towards President-elect Biden’s declared ‘Unity’ message, instead further dividing our nation.

It’s already been made clear: Congress certified the 2020 presidential results and this election is over. We owe it to our nation to move past these divisive tactics and work towards bringing America — and our communities — together.”

Some of the responses on Twitter:

Yes, America is hurting.

America will heal.

But America will only heal when those that seek to tear it apart have been punished appropriately.

That’s called Law and Order.

You should make yourself aware of the concept.

And it should apply to everyone equally.

Investigate, charge, and sentence every traitor to the maximum penalty under the law.
Be they Congress members, members of the executive or judicial branches or average Americans.

No one is above the law, especially traitors.

You helped tear us apart by spreading the misinformation about election fraud. SHAME ON YOU!

I’ll explain this to you in terms from personal knowledge, @RepHartzler: Healing comes after the cancer is removed, not when the tumor is still inside the body.

Nonsense. America needs strength, not capitulation.

And true strength would be recognizing that #WhiteSupremacyIsTerorrism.

I needed you to vote for impeachment.

You tried to help overthrow the government, Vicky

Healing begins by removing Trump from power. We can unify behind agreeing that his words and their actions were not acceptable.

Actions need to have consequences, Vicky.

We owe it to our nation to drive those who would seek to violently overthrow our “nation of laws” into the light where they can be held accountable, or they will continue to fester until they do it again.

We don’t negotiate with terrorists. Even if they’re our white neighbors.

America is hurting because—after the sacking of the Capitol—the likes of @RepHartzler voted to deny Arizona and Pennsylvania citizens the right to choose their own electors…on the basis, shamefully, of Trump’s big lie of election “theft”.

This is just driving me mad. You pushed and pushed and pushed when it was unprovable and non-existent fraud, but now as soon as the tables are turned we hear…

“Unity”
“Healing”

“Bullshit” is what it is.

Before wounds can be healed they must be cleaned. Before this nation can heal there must be accountability. I’m sorry – and I mean that – that this seems to escape you.

You encouraged a mob to try to over turn an election.

Blah…blah…blah!

No healing without contrition.

If you can not see that you are supporting a criminal then you should not be in the position you are in. I’m all for unity, but, im also in support of seeing criminals punished.

So we “needed” false election misinformation pretending Trump won inciting division and mistrust but now we don’t need to hold criminals accountable

Kumbaya is a few weeks & a call to decertify too late. You can’t back pedal calls to fight and combat. Consequating insurrection isn’t the divisive act or theater here, it’s justice. The divisiveness was feeding a narrative that the election wasn’t legit. You are complicit.

We need justice. Republicans lied about outcome of a free and fair election for months. Then called a mob to DC, told mob to go into combat, and tweeted location of Speaker as mob was yelling threats to harm her. Only way we move forward is to prosecute every criminal in GOP

After everything you’ve said? Really?! Yeah…no. Impeach.

Local woman more afraid of being primaried than of the potential long term consequences of breaking her oath to defend the US Constitution.

Coward.

No moving past the insurrection until all parties involved are punished.

How dare you call impeachment “divisive?” You know what’s divisive? An attack on the capitol – which you enabled with your lies, Vicky.

This is called accountability. Your words are hollow. As a Missourian, I am ashamed of you. History will despise you, and you deserve it.

There can be no unity without accountability.

You disgust me. You always have.

A few of the Facebook comments on the same press release:

I am heartbroken to see our nation as it is today. I wish people could realize we are all Americans wanting to live each day as peacefully as possible. This impeachment is just driving our nation further apart. We have witnessed for 4 years the hate Pelosi & the Democratic’s have had for President Trump. They wouldn’t even let him actually be the president he could have been , from the first day he took office.in all my years I have never seen such treatment of a president. I pray for calm , and a dignified transfer of power. May God Bless America!

What color is the sky in their world?

I thank you so much Congresswoman Hartzler, for your comments. Yes, AMERICA HAS BEEN THROUGH AN AWFUL TIME! I wish we could heal, but the truth is, that isn’t what certain Democrats want to happen. I dread what lies ahead under their leadership….

A taco truck on every corner.

Agree and further more this is doing the same thing that the Democrats are accusing President Trump of doing. Such hypocrisy and it needs to end. What good is coming from this? None except for driving the wedge further and invoking more of what has been happening for the last 4 years. Unity does NOT equal conforming everyone to one view.

Not to mention how blatantly Socialistic/Communistic those on the Democratic side have said time after time that they are GOING to make our Country into . I didn’t serve in the United States Marine Corps to simply walk away from this kind of Tyranny . Our Freedom and our Rights are being Choked to Death !! Mrs Hartzler I respect what your saying but the Truth is the new administration is not and will not be thinking of the people of this Country they will only think of pandering to other countries to pad their bank accounts

Vicki I honestly dont know how its possible to unify the country with Pelosi, Schumer and Harris at the controls of Congress. Good luck and God bless

Wait, isn’t it supposed to be Vicky?

it is clear that there is an attempt by the Democrats to have one party only. From boycotting firms that provided support to the President or Republicans to BLM/Antifa riots in multiple cities simultaneously with bussed-in agitators, to main stream media collusion instead of reporting.

You’re right, they incited riots by telling Dems to push back at us and run us out of restaurants, etc. then violence kept going by them.

Have you tried curbside pickup?

And we haven’t spent the last 4 years cleaning up the mess from obuma, and his senile partner?
Now we’re going to see how bad that senile old buffoon can really screw things up!
God help us!

A hug won’t work on this one.

I don’t think we should ever embrace evil and call it unity! What has happened to common sense, I know it has turned to radical socialism! Many people know it was Antifa acting like Trump supporters and NOT Trump supporters . The corruption is so deep we have brain washed millions of people! May God have mercy on America.

How can we possibly unite and possibly heal after the way they have treated President Trump the last four years, how?

YOU DEMOS ARE THE ONES THAT NEED TO LEAVE AMERICA AND GO TO A COMMUNIST COUNTRY AND LEAVE AMERICA ALONE YOU ALL ARE EVIL AND GODS GOT YOUR #!!!

It’s a special device, the knobs go to 11.

I completely agree. Democrats (including Biden) are speaking out of both sides of their mouths. On one hand they say “it is time to move forward and heal the nation” and on the other side they say inflammatory remarks such as Pelosi saying that those who are Trump supporters are racists. Biden went so far as to compare one politician (I think it was Josh Hawley?) to the infamous Nazi butcher, Dr.Joseph Goebbels. What the heck?!! Under any circumstances is that comparison right, fair or just! Dr. Goebbels committed vile, heinous acts on human beings. Such comments are made to shut down dissent. When I hear prominent politicians making those kinds of remarks, it does nothing towards healing our nation! In fact, it shows the opposite, that they really have no intention of trying to heal our nation. They would rather continue to feed the very tension they say the Republicans are guilty of. As far as I’m concerned, the Democrats are equally to blame for the tempers and tensions that have been flaring up since the election. Actions speak louder than words. In other words, I’ll believe it when I see it!

“…We can’t bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell ’em stories that don’t go anywhere – like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ’em. Give me five bees for a quarter, you’d say. Now where were we? Oh yeah: the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones…”

RESOLUTION
Impeaching Donald John Trump, President of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors.

Resolved, That Donald John Trump, President of the United States, is impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors and that the following article of impeachment be exhibited to the United States Senate:

Article of impeachment exhibited by the House of Representatives of the United States of America in the name of itself and of the people of the United States of America, against Donald John Trump, President of the United States of America, in maintenance and support of its impeachment against him for high crimes and misdemeanors.

ARTICLE I: INCITEMENT OF INSURRECTION

The Constitution provides that the House of Representatives “shall have the sole Power of Impeachment” and that the President “shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors”. Further, section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution prohibits any person who has “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against” the United States from “hold[ing] any office … under the United States”. In his conduct while President of the United States—and in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed—Donald John Trump engaged in high Crimes and Misdemeanors by inciting violence against the Government of the United States, in that:

On January 6, 2021, pursuant to the 12th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, the Vice President of the United States, the House of Representatives, and the Senate met at the United States Capitol for a Joint Session of Congress to count the votes of the Electoral College. In the months preceding the Joint Session, President Trump repeatedly issued false statements asserting that the Presidential election results were the product of widespread fraud and should not be accepted by the American people or certified by State or Federal officials. Shortly before the Joint Session commenced, President Trump, addressed a crowd at the Ellipse in Washington, DC. There, he reiterated false claims that “we won this election, and we won it by a landslide”. He also willfully made statements that, in context, encouraged—and foreseeably resulted in—lawless action at the Capitol, such as: “if you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country anymore”. Thus incited by President Trump, members of the crowd he had addressed, in an attempt to, among other objectives, interfere with the Joint Session’s solemn constitutional duty to certify the results of the 2020 Presidential election, unlawfully breached and vandalized the Capitol, injured and killed law enforcement personnel, menaced Members of Congress, the Vice President, and Congressional personnel, and engaged in other violent, deadly, destructive, and seditious acts.

President Trump’s conduct on January 6, 2021, followed his prior efforts to subvert and obstruct the certification of the results of the 2020 Presidential election. Those prior efforts included a phone call on January 2, 2021, during which President Trump urged the secretary of state of Georgia, Brad Raffensperger, to “find” enough votes to overturn the Georgia Presidential election results and threatened Secretary Raffensperger if he failed to do so.

In all this, President Trump gravely endangered the security of the United States and its institutions of Government. He threatened the integrity of the democratic system, interfered with the peaceful transition of power, and imperiled a coequal branch of Government. He thereby betrayed his trust as President, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

Wherefore, Donald John Trump, by such conduct, has demonstrated that he will remain a threat to national security, democracy, and the Constitution if allowed to remain in office, and has acted in a manner grossly incompatible with self-governance and the rule of law. Donald John Trump thus warrants impeachment and trial, removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States.

1790H.01I DANA RADEMAN MILLER, Chief Clerk

WHEREAS, on January 6, 2021, violent insurrectionists incited by President Donald J. Trump did storm and briefly occupy the United States Capitol in a lawless attempt to block Congress from formalizing President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory and illegally keep President Trump in office; and

WHEREAS, United States Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri was a leader of the effort to overturn the Electoral College results of several states won by President-elect Biden; and

WHEREAS, in that role Senator Hawley did repeat and amplify false claims of fraud in those states that have been rejected by more than 60 state and federal courts across the nation due o the complete lack of any evidence; and

WHEREAS, Senator Hawley’s efforts to disenfranchise millions of voters and overturn a lawful and legitimate election demonstrates an animosity toward democracy and the American system of government; and

WHEREAS, in a sickening display of political self-interest Senator Hawley issued a campaign fundraising appeal as the insurrectionist mob was making its way to the Capitol; and

WHEREAS, as the attack on the Capitol was getting underway, Senator Hawley was photographed showing support for the insurrectionists; and

WHEREAS, Senator Hawley’s actions in promoting demonstrable lies did further incite and inflame the insurrectionists; and

WHEREAS, after the insurrection had been quelled, Senator Hawley did continue repeating the lies about election fraud and resumed his efforts to overturn the lawful and legitimate election results; and

WHEREAS, five people died as a result of the Capitol insurrection, including U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian D. Sicknick; and

WHEREAS, more than 50 police officers sustained injuries during the insurrection; and

WHEREAS, Senator Hawley has expressed more remorse over the loss of his book deal than he has over those deaths and injuries or the actions he took that helped create the conditions that made them possible; and

WHEREAS, Senator Hawley, upon being being sworn into office in 2019, did take a solemn oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;” and

WHEREAS, Senator Hawley has violated that oath; and

WHEREAS, since the events of January 6, Senator Hawley has faced widespread condemnation throughout Missouri and the country for his role in encouraging the worst assault on the U.S. Capitol since the War of 1812; and

WHEREAS, it is the duty of all elected officials and citizens to strongly reject sedition and insurrection:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the members of the House of Representatives of the One Hundred First General Assembly, First Regular Session, the Senate concurring therein, hereby urge Senator Josh Hawley to immediately resign from the United States Senate for inciting sedition and violent insurrection against the government and people of the United States in violation of his oath of office; and

101ST GENERAL ASSEMBLY

INTRODUCED BY REPRESENTATIVE ELLEBRACHT.
1778H.02I DANA RADEMAN MILLER, Chief Clerk

WHEREAS, the members of the House of Representatives of the State of Missouri together with the members of the Senate of the State of Missouri roundly condemn violent and destructive demonstration of all kinds; and

WHEREAS, the violent acts and crimes of property destruction that occurred in cities across the United States over the past year have been prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law that local and state law enforcement agencies have had the power to pursue; and

WHEREAS, the state of Missouri and its residents universally believe that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere; and

WHEREAS, the members of the One Hundred First General Assembly were collectively horrified by the disgraceful and craven acts of certain individuals who, on January 6, 2021, violently and seditiously invaded the Capitol of the United States of America in an effort to disrupt and possibly altogether prevent the certification of the count of the Electoral College votes, and in so doing committed various and sundry criminal acts; and

WHEREAS, the criminal acts engaged in by those individuals resulted in shame and embarrassment of the people of Missouri, as yet uncalculated property damage, and, most tragically, the loss of five human lives:

Today. I kid you not.

First Lady Melania Trump: Our Path Forward
January 11, 2021

By: Melania Trump
First Lady

Like all of you, I have reflected on the past year and how the invisible enemy, Covid-19, swept across our beautiful country. All Nations have experienced the loss of loved ones, economic pain, and the negative impacts of isolation.

As your First Lady, it has been inspiring to witness firsthand what the people of our great Nation will do for one another, especially when we are at our most vulnerable.

With nearly every experience I have had, I found myself carrying many individual’s stories home with me in my heart.

Most recently, my heart goes out to: Air Force Veteran, Ashli Babbitt, Benjamin Philips, Kevin Greeson, Roseanne Boyland, and Capitol Police Officers, Brian Sicknick and Howard Liebengood. I pray for their families comfort and strength during this difficult time.

I am disappointed and disheartened with what happened last week. I find it shameful that surrounding these tragic events there has been salacious gossip, unwarranted personal attacks, and false misleading accusations on me – from people who are looking to be relevant and have an agenda. This time is solely about healing our country and its citizens. It should not be used for personal gain.

Our Nation must heal in a civil manner. Make no mistake about it, I absolutely condemn the violence that has occurred on our Nation’s Capitol. Violence is never acceptable.

As an American, I am proud of our freedom to express our viewpoints without persecution. It is one of the paramount ideals which America is fundamentally built on. Many have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect that right. With that in mind, I would like to call on the citizens of this country to take a moment, pause, and look at things from all perspectives.

I implore people to stop the violence, never make assumptions based on the color of a person’s skin or use differing political ideologies as a basis for aggression and viciousness. We must listen to one another, focus on what unites us, and rise above what divides us.

It is inspiring to see that so many have found a passion and enthusiasm in participating in an election, but we must not allow that passion to turn to violence. Our path forward is to come together, find our commonalities, and be the kind and strong people that I know we are.

Our country’s strength and character have revealed themselves in the communities that have been impacted by natural disasters and throughout this terrible pandemic that has affected all of us. The common thread in all of these challenging situations is American’s unwavering resolve to help one another. Your compassion has shown the true spirit of our country.

As I said over the summer, it is these defining moments that we will look back and tell our grandchildren that through empathy, strength, and determination, we were able to restore the promise of our future. Each of you are the backbone of this country. You are the people who continue to make the United States of America what it is, and who have the incredible responsibility of preparing our future generations to leave everything better than they found it.

It has been the honor of my lifetime to serve as your First Lady. I want to thank the millions of Americans who supported my husband and me over the past 4 years and shown the incredible impact of the American spirit. I am grateful to you all for letting me serve you on platforms which are dear to me.

Most importantly, I ask for healing, grace, understanding, and peace for our great Nation.

Every day let us remember that we are one Nation under God. God bless you all and God bless the United States of America.

Sincerely,

Melania Trump

Uh, she’s a birther, too.

Just asking.

Yesterday:

@JasonSmithMO @JasonSmithMO
Calls for “unity” are all by lip service when Washington Dems are discussing impeachment behind closed doors and talks of censorship are ratcheted up.
11:34 AM · Jan 10, 2021

Some of the responses:

A cop is dead on your watch. Do better.

@JasonSmithMO here is what would help with unity.

I need you to state, publicly every day for the next couple weeks:

“Joe Biden was elected President of the United States, there has not been evidence of widespread voter fraud, I eagerly look forward to the new administration!”

This you?

“Those who break laws or put our national security in jeopardy should not escape consequences just because they are a powerful elite or in this case have the last name of Clinton. “ Jason Smith, Sept 16, 2016

Where was @JasonSmithMO when Congressman Andy Kim took a knee to help?

Really? Really? You are lecturing people about dishonest calls for unity? This is you encouraging a riot that killed 5 people in our Capitol. Where were you on unity before the riot you encouraged?

You have no standing to call for unity.

Did I see a photo of you at the insurrection?

Yes. Yes you did.

Hey Jason, might want to read up on the 14th Amendment! Here I’ll help you!

THEY CARRIED ZIP TIE CUFFS AND ERECTED A GALLOWS. AT THE DIRECTION OF THE PRESIDENT. THERE WERE LEO’s AND EX MILITARY OFFICERS. RUDY CALLED FOR “TRIAL BY COMBAT.” UNITY WITH FASCISTS IS SURRENDER TO FASCISTS. RESIGN AND LIVE WITH THIS IGNOMINY THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.

Congressman, you have no moral standing to speak of unity or to set down the terms by which it is to be achieved. You refused to accept the results of a free and fair election, contributing to an insurrection attempt.

You tried to overturn the election. You shall not escape responsibility.

There can be no unity before there is accountability. The insurrectionists and those who incited them must be held to account or they will remain a threat to our democracy. A police officer was murdered because of Trump’s calls for violence. You want unity? Vote to impeach.

No. I’m one of your constituents. Hard to let you guys off the hook for Wednesday’s insurrection.

Oh look, one of the guys handing out matches and gasoline thinks it’s divisive to prosecute the lead arsonist.

Accountability first, healing later. You need to unite with your colleagues and call for the impeachment and removal of the terrorist sympathizer currently in the presidential office.

There can be no unity before accountability and justice. There is an order to these things.

Your constituents are the lowest income in our state. They need someone who care about them. It sure is not you. It is too bad they do not know that.

This is a fraudulent, embarrassing, and cowardly take.

I’m your constituent. You should be begging for forgiveness right now, not doubling down. Maybe sit this one out.

No. With every tweet like this you are declaring your unfitness to serve and refusal to understand the significance of what took place this week. Either lead by your Oath to the Constitution or leave.

Just leave.

Yeah, we don’t negotiate or unify with terrorist. Imagine that…

Behind close doors my ass, this is a national demand

We cannot have unity without accountability. Your party started this. Accept the consequences.

You are choosing the side of the traitors, and we won’t forget.

Did you take an oath?

You know what would help with unity…no more coup attempts and removing those who encouraged the one last week. #SeditionCaucus #CoupAttempt #GOPBetrayedAmerica

You tried to help overthrow the government of the United States but go off.

And on and on…
