Again.

Eric Schmitt (r) [2021 file photo].

Today:

Eric Schmitt @Eric_Schmitt
If you’ve been vaccinated and want to put on 6 masks outside by yourself or want your kids to wear a mask all day long — go for it — this is America, but stop using government to force other people to wear masks. #NoMaskMandates
1:29 PM · Aug 24, 2021

Not the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

Some of the responses:

Here is a third version: If you don’t smoke and don’t want your children to smoke — go for it — this is America, but stop using government to force other people where they can and can’t smoke.

Here is another version: If you’re sober and want to drive — go for it — this is America, but stop using government to force other people to drive sober.

Spend an hour in my sister’s shoes as an ICU nurse right now. See how much “freedom” Missourians have when they’re intubated. See how much “freedom” a heart attack or car accident patient has when they can’t get treatment because the ICU is full. Their blood is on your hands.

Anyone who doesn’t want their kids to wear a mask in school can home school then. The immaturity around simply wearing a mask is baffling and the ones who refuse to wear one are the reason the mandates are even necessary to begin with but they just don’t get it.

Why don’t you try to help?

Yeah government – stop forcing me to wear a seatbelt or have a license to drive a car! Stop forcing me to pay taxes! Stop forcing me to obey any rules I don’t like! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAA I’m a special snowflake and I shouldn’t have to do anything I don’t want to!

Government has a role in ensuring the health and welfare of its citizens. (Speed limits, helmet laws, shirt and shoes in restaurants.) A mask should be a simple gesture but our society has become too selfish and local communities can and should step in for the greater good.

personal responsibility doesn’t work in public health emergencies. When your choices affect other people, especially when your choices can take someone else’s lives, it is not just the right, but the duty of government to take action.

Ok. My drivers license says I need to wear corrective lenses while I drive (for the safety of others), but fuck that. It violates my freedom!

Seat belts? Red lights? Childhood vaccinations? Where does this triumph of the selfish individual end? This is just cheap political pandering.

This is the price for living in a society. Living in a community. If you have no interest in humans don’t live in a society Eric.

Looking forward to your battle to free Cheesecake Factory grill cooks from the big government tyranny that requires them to wear ahoes and pants while preparing your dinner. Get big government out of our restaurants! Cooks have a right to fly their sweaty balls free

We wouldn’t have to if the GOP’s theory of personal responsibility actually resulted in people exercising their personal responsibility to protect my child. But they won’t. And neither will you apparently.

Freedom without responsibility is adolescence. It’s time to grow up.

This is political theater and you know it.

Just wait for the headline in Variety.

You have that personal freedoms until they infringe on others, when you go out unvaccinated and unmask you are a risk to others. We as a society mandate many things, from childhood vaccinations to seatbelts in the car. Join society and stop being selfish.

This is just political theatre. One last ditch attempt to save your career.

The show should close at intermission.

You don’t believe this. You’re better than this.

Apparently not.

Some of the responses:

Nothing like using their kids as pawn in what shouldn’t be a game.

And not just their kids.

Lost all faith in humanity.

What the??????

Endangering their children to own the libs.

And not just their children.

A comment with a retweet:

Nothing says “I care about my kid” like using them as a po[i]ltical prop, doing everything you can to make them as unsafe as possible, and making them an outcast on day 1 of school. Can we charge these hateful idiots with child endangerment yet?

We can all then live in Eric Schmitt’s anti-science libertarian paradise. Wouldn’t that be so much fun?

Some of the responses:

You forgot the conclusion: No end to the pandemic.

Well said return to true freedom besides I can’t breath hear when I’m.forced to wear a dam mask it’s a struggle for me. And I’m forced to ask people to repeat themselves because I can’t hear!! please put yourself in my shoes before you comment.

When you are dead you don’t have to worry about hearing anything.

Eric! Stop it! You’re purging your own voter rolls!

No thinking.

You are wrong. You threaten my life. You threaten the lives of children.
I will support establishments with mask mandates & passports.

No sense.

No Schmitt in the Senate.

No brain cells.

No Brains. Do you see what’s happening in Florida and Texas?

No brains.

You forgot one. No care for other human lives.

There’s more. Some from those who aren’t particularly concerned with humanity.

In west central Missouri, one person’s story.

I just received word from a friend that their elderly parent fell and broke a leg. This injury will require surgery and a hospital stay. Their local small town hospital has no available beds. Due to COVID-19 cases. This in a county with a very low vaccination rate and active anti-mask agitators.

Their injured parent was transferred to a suburban hospital. That hospital has no available beds. Their parent is in that hospital’s emergency department until a bed becomes available. The friend described a scene with patients in beds in the hallways.

What does anyone think will happen to a patient in the case of a heart attack, or a stroke, or injuries due to a car accident?

If you’re anti-vaccine and/or anti-mask you own this. It’s your world. And you’re a dumbass sociopath.

If you haven’t already done so, get vaccinated.

Wear a damn mask.

Nothing new here

Yesterday:

State Representative Brian Seitz
I joined hundreds of Patriots last night in front of Mercy Hospital as we took a stand against mask and vaccine mandates. Our healthcare workers, and employees in all other industries, should not be forced to choose between their job and a jab.
Getting the vaccine and wearing a mask are personal decisions that each individual should be able to make for themselves in consultation with their families and their doctors. No one should be forced or coerced into making these medical decisions.
We must confront tyranny wherever it is found, be that in government or the private sector, and I will proudly fight alongside you as we say NO to these Draconian mandates. Enough is enough.
[….]

“…against mask and vaccine mandates…” Ever have surgery? Just asking.

Dumbasses.

Two of the comments:

Here’s an idea. Why don’t you guys form your own society and breathe Covid germs all over each other to your hearts content? No vaccines and no preventative measures of any kind. The only catch is you can’t go to the hospital in real society. You game?

Good to see you out there actively pushing for people to have rights over what is happening with their bodies. Can I expect you to vote pro-choice from now on? Or are you strictly only for that when it comes to Covid-19 and vaccines?
Get vaccinated you fuckwits.

CDC recommends the following actions be taken in areas with substantial or high COVID-19 transmission:

Everyone (including fully vaccinated individuals) should wear a mask in public indoor settings to help prevent the spread of Delta and protect others.

Community leaders should encourage vaccination and masking to prevent further outbreaks.

According to the CDC, every county in Missouri’s 21st Senate District is currently at high risk for community transmission of COVID-19.

We don’t have any community leaders.

As always, we’re not allowing ignorant comments like these out of moderation to be linked with the original post, but we will present some of them in subsequent posts for the purpose of public derision and mockery. As we see fit.

We get more comments (both from the same person):

Did you receive permission from any of the people in these pics to post them in a public forum? I know you sure as hell didn’t get mine.

You published photos without the permission of the people in them…..
I know you didn’t get my permission to take or use any pictures of me.
The previous article that this one refers to most definitely contained your biased opinion.
“at risk for exposure to Covid-19 or that my IQ probably dropped forty points after listening to their tiresome luddite anti-science drivel.” Your words… biased opinion not fact.

Read this slowly, so you may understand it. Sound out the words if that helps.

Is this your first rodeo?

You, and everyone else in the room, attended a public meeting concerning public business. You chose to be there. There is no reasonable presumption that your presence, by image, and, if you spoke, your words wouldn’t appear in a public account or news report of the public meeting. No permission is required. The meeting was publicly streamed live by the public entity. As a public record I’m assuming that the livestream was archived and, if so, would be available to anyone by request from the entity conducting the public meeting under RSMo § 610.

Do some real research. We’ll wait.

The images in the article are about as objective as anything can get. The audio in the article is about as objective as anything can get. Is it your assertion that the individuals in the images and/or who are in the audio didn’t participate in the public meeting?

The final paragraph is biased? That’s your opinion.

You keep posting comments here. No one is forcing you to do so. If you don’t want them to appear here, at our discretion, don’t post them here.

Really. This is too easy.

As always, we’re not allowing ignorant comments like these out of moderation to be linked with the original post, but we will present some of them in subsequent posts for the purpose of public derision and mockery. As we see fit.

We get another comment:

This article is completely laughable and highly biased. The author is obviously incapable of accepting proven research that differs from his opinion.

The post is a first hand source. That is, we were there. We took photos. We published the photos. We recorded audio. We posted the audio. There is no bias in those elements. There is no opinion in those elements. We agree that the public comments were completely laughable. We stated:

…“they” showed up to complain about masks and vaccines, spouting misinformation which would be laughable if it weren’t so dangerous to others…

What “proven” research? Cite it. Explain how that works. We’ll wait.

In a later post:

[….]It was definitely not a virtuoso display of critical thinking skills. Thirty or so people in a county with a population of approximately 54,000.

Whining about a local school district “making” school children wear masks, while being lax in their enforcement, while being too strict in their enforcement, and possibly making students follow established policy.

Masks designated for biological use don’t work for paint (uh, wrong type), therefore they won’t work for their intended purpose.

Wearing a mask will cause you to breathe excessive amounts of carbon dioxide, never mind that highly skilled surgeons and medical personnel wear masks for hours. Seriously, would anyone want their medical team to do otherwise?

How many individuals in Johnson County have been fully vaccinated? Definitely more than thirty anti-science luddites. [….]

Sen. Rick Brattin Pushes for Special Session to Stop Vaccine Mandates
August 4, 2021

JEFFERSON CITY — Sen. Rick Brattin, R-Harrisonville, sent a letter to the governor this week urging him to call an extraordinary session of the Missouri Senate and House to consider legislation to protect Missourians from COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

“It’s become clear that some businesses and institutions around this state are dead set on forcing the vaccine on Missourians against their will,” Sen. Brattin said. “The people of Missouri can and should decide for themselves if taking a drug that even the FDA hasn’t fully approved is what is best for them and their families. Employers shouldn’t make that decision, nor should big business, and certainly not politicians.”

The letter comes in response to a number of health care facilities and other businesses forcing workers to be vaccinated by a specified date or be fired from their jobs. Senator Brattin was joined by several of his colleagues in the Senate, who also signed the letter, asking the governor to “call an extraordinary session at your earliest convenience so the General Assembly can take any and all appropriate steps to protect Missouri workers from vaccine mandates.”

“Forcing anyone to take an experimental drug is wrong. It violates some our most basic rights as Americans and Missourians,” Sen. Brattin said. “We need to do something about it, and we need to do it now before people are forced out of their jobs. It’s our job as the elected representatives of the people to safeguard the freedom and liberty of the people we work for, and I can’t think of anything more urgent and important than protecting them from forced vaccination.”

Senator Brattin represents the 31st Senatorial District, covering Barton, Bates, Cass, Henry and Vernon counties. Senator Brattin resides in Harrisonville [….]

Johnson County Community Health Services – Board of Trustees – August 2, 2021 – This is why we can’t have nice things (August 2, 2021)

Glad some citizens showed up to stand up for our rights. Donna Stewart seems rude and scared. Maybe she just needs to lock herself up at home. We don’t want any restrictions or lockdown. Saint Louis county just lost their mask mandate lawsuit. I expect Kansas City to lose theirs in court as well. We are free and have rights

Selfish sociopath.

Uh, “they” showed up to complain about masks and vaccines, spouting misinformation which would be laughable if it weren’t so dangerous to others. It was definitely not a virtuoso display of critical thinking skills. Thirty or so people in a county with a population of approximately 54,000.

Listen to the audio. Donna Stewart was definitely polite.

Who is “we”?

Uh, a temporary restraining order does not equate to “just lost their mask mandate lawsuit”. You expect?

With freedom and rights comes responsibility. Maybe even empathy. But, here we are.
