The out of towners:
Mark Alford
[December 30, 2023]
To all my Texas friends… would love to have you join us Feb 9th in Baytown Texas for a reunion of sorts and a fundraiser as we gear up for re-election to Congress.
Going to great to see old classmates.
[….]
Some of the responses:
But do they know where you’ve been fraternizing with that guy in Waco?
Texas has nothing to do with politics in Missouri.
Mark Alford [….] but they do have something to do with politics in DC and federal laws and issues we are working on.
Sure, Mark.
you are MO 4th rep not Baytown TX. You do not represent us and now you are going to Texas. Get in touch with the 4th for god’s sake.
go 4th yourself! [….]
been here in the 4th a long time. MO 4th needs representation full time and not sharing with Texas who had their own representation and problems. We are being over run with trash for one thing locally and truly need representation to realize that as well as the current problems the U.S. is facing. There are a lot of issues needing addressed here before going and worrying about anything in a large county in Texas. Preserving the government of our country sure outweighs the preservation of an ex-president’s ego.
A Texan:
Texas (in addition to every state in the country) has everything to do with politics on the national level. I live in Texas, supported Mark’s campaign and will absolutely support his re-election.
Mark Alford [….] hope to see you at the event
Texans supporting our candidates in Missouri is exactly one of the problems in our country. He should probably take care of home and keep it clean before working for other states. Drive down Highway 291 and Highway 50. Drive from his community to MCI and tell me what you see.
Your awesome Mark Alford
You’re.
Mark Alford You need to come visit Clinton, Mo.

Bad combover. Check. Too long red tie. Check. Orange spray tan. Check. Tiny hands. Check. Cluelessness. Check. Arraignment. Check.
The indictment [pdf].
[….]
10. The Defendant’s conspiracy to impair, obstruct, and defeat the federal government function through dishonesty, fraud, and deceit included the following manner and means:
a. The Defendant and co-conspirators used knowingly false claims of election fraud to get state legislators and election officials to subvert the legitimate election results and change electoral votes for the Defendant’s opponent, Joseph R. Biden, Jr., to electoral votes for the Defendant. That is, on the pretext of baseless fraud claims, the Defendant pushed officials in certain states to ignore the popular vote; disenfranchise millions of voters; dismiss legitimate electors; and ultimately, cause the ascertainment of and voting by illegitimate electors in favor of the Defendant.
b. The Defendant and co-conspirators organized fraudulent slates of electors in seven targeted states (Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin), attempting to mimic the procedures that the legitimate electors were supposed to follow under the Constitution and other federal and state laws. This included causing the fraudulent electors to meet on the day appointed by federal law on which legitimate electors were to gather and cast their votes; cast fraudulent votes for the Defendant; and sign certificates falsely representing that they were legitimate electors. Some fraudulent electors were tricked into participating based on the understanding that their votes would be used only if the Defendant succeeded in outcome-determinative lawsuits within their state, which the Defendant never did. The Defendant and co-conspirators then caused these fraudulent electors to transmit their false certificates to the Vice President and other government officials to be counted at the certification proceeding on January 6.
c. The Defendant and co-conspirators attempted to use the power and authority of the Justice Department to conduct sham election crime investigations and to send a letter to the targeted states that falsely claimed that the Justice Department had identified significant concerns that may have impacted the election outcome; that sought to advance the Defendant’s fraudulent elector plan by using the Justice Department’s authority to falsely present the fraudulent electors as a valid alternative to the legitimate electors; and that urged, on behalf of the Justice Department, the targeted states’ legislatures to convene to create the opportunity to choose the fraudulent electors over the legitimate electors.
d. The Defendant and co-conspirators attempted to enlist the Vice President to use his ceremonial role at the January 6 certification proceeding to fraudulently alter the election results. First, using knowingly false claims of election fraud, the Defendant and co-conspirators attempted to convince the Vice President to use the Defendant’s fraudulent electors, reject legitimate electoral votes, or send legitimate electoral votes to state legislatures for review rather than counting them. When that failed, on the morning of January 6, the Defendant and co-conspirators repeated knowingly false claims of election fraud to gathered supporters, falsely told them that the Vice President had the authority to and might alter the election results, and directed them to the Capitol to obstruct the certification proceeding and exert pressure on the Vice President to take the fraudulent actions he had previously refused.
e. After it became public on the afternoon of January 6 that the Vice President would not fraudulently alter the election results, a large and angry crowd-including many individuals whom the Defendant had deceived into believing the Vice President could and might change the election results—violently attacked the Capitol and halted the proceeding. As violence ensued, the Defendant and co-conspirators exploited the disruption by redoubling efforts to levy false claims of election fraud and convince Members of Congress to further delay the certification based on those claims.

Nothing going to happen the swamp is too deep and the Rs have no kuhnas
A portmanteau of kahuna and cojones?
That, ladies and gentlemen, is why we can’t have nice things.
Devon Archer confirmed Hunter Biden was a schmuck who would call his unsuspecting dad during business meetings.
Devon Archer also confirmed that Joe Biden ALWAYS kept the subject personal and NEVER talked business.
THIS constituent wants Mo-4 Congressional representation that both tells the truth and is NOT a partisan political hack. Can you do it?
No. This has been another edition of Short Answers to Simple Questions.
So why does Lester Holt not talk about this? I believe all the charges because I remember Biden as vice president laughing on one of the late night talks shows about getting the Ukrainian official fired. But the regular/old media won’t discuss this.
Because Lester Holt doesn’t stay up late enough to watch late night talk shows? Just spitballing it here.

It looks like Senator Claire McCaskill (D) had a good fundraising quarter. From the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC):
Impressive numbers from Senate Democrats
Tue Jul 12 2011 13:58:00 GMT-0400 (EDT) | by Matt Canter
Today Jon Tester is announcing that he raised $1.2 million in the second quarter and has $2.3 million on hand. Tester outraised his opponent Dennis Rehberg by 2 to 1 in the first quarter.
And Shelley Berkley is announcing that she has also raised $1.2 million in the second quarter and already has $2.5 million on hand. Berkley outraised Dean Heller in the first quarter of the year as well.
Yesterday, Claire McCaskill announced that she raised an impressive $1.4 million and has $3 million on hand.
And last week, a number of Democratic Senators and candidates released imposing fundraising totals…
· Tim Kaine raised $2.25 million
· Sherrod Brown raised $1.5 million and has $3.5 million on hand
· Robert Menendez raised $2 million and has $5.5 million on hand
· Bob Casey raised $1.3 million and has $3.1 million on hand
· Bill Nelson rakes in $1.85 million and has over $6 million on hand…enough for dinner at Ruth’s Chris
· Joe Manchin ends quarter with over $1.3 million in the bank
· And in Michigan, Debbie Stabenow raised $1.5 million in the second quarter and has $4.1 million on hand. This marks her strongest fundraising quarter ever. So far, Stabenow has scared away the competition and no Republican has stepped forward to take her on.
[emphasis added]
It probably helps that the republicans in the Senate are psychotic.

{First, a cheap plug for my blog Senate Guru.}
40 days from today – on May 18 – we will see two HUGE primaries for U.S. Senate. Even though these races aren’t in Missouri, they impact Democrats across the country and, well, the entire country as a whole.
In Pennsylvania, Democratic Congressman Joe Sestak will try to upset Republican-for-decades Arlen Specter.
In Arkansas, Democratic Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter will try to upset corporate lackey Blanche Lincoln.
| These two races are tremendously important to defining who and what the Democratic Party is and what we will be fighting for.
If you can volunteer for these candidates (or encourage friends and family in Pennsylvania and Arkansas to do so), that would be amazing. Of course, if you can help with a contribution to either or both via the Expand the Map! ActBlue page as soon as possible, it will make a big impact. |
|

Polling shows that both Specter and Lincoln are at risk of – if not likely to – hand these Senate seats over to far-right-wing Republicans. (And, even if these two retain the seats, that’s not much better on many key issues.)
Congressman Sestak and Lieutenant Governor Halter winning these primaries are critical to keeping these seats in truly Democratic hands. Your support can help make that happen! Please hop over to the Expand the Map! ActBlue page right away to make a contribution – an investment in the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party to pull out an old expression – and show your support.
Thanks SO much for any support you can provide. 40 Days.

I just wanted to remind everyone that today (Wednesday) is the final day of the first fundraising quarter of 2010. The fundraising totals reported by federal candidates will help determine their relative strength as we head toward Election Day 2010.
Please contribute as generously as you can today.
For instance, you can contribute to Robin Carnahan’s campaign for U.S. Senate via my Expand the Map! ActBlue page. On it, Robin has 49 contributions. Can you be contribution number 50?
(Remember: every contribution you make to Robin via the Expand the Map! ActBlue page is not only a show of support for Robin but an investment toward Roy Blunt’s long overdue retirement!)
Consider this an open thread.

2010 Senate races, Actblue, AR-Sen, Bill Halter, FL-Sen, fundraising, Joe Sestak, Kendrick Meek, MO-Sen, NH-Sen, PA-Sen, Paul Hodes, Q3, Robin Carnahan
{First, a quick plug for my blog Senate Guru.}
As we await the historic vote on health care reform, it’s important to remember that we’re just ten days away from the end of the first fundraising quarter of 2010. The fundraising totals reported in this quarter will be pivotal to determining the tenor of many races for the rest of the year. If there is any time to contribute, now is the time!
Please head over to the Expand the Map! ActBlue page and contribute whatever you are able to these terrific Democratic candidates for Senate.
| Democrat | Currently At | End-of-Quarter Goal | Distance to Goal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kendrick Meek | $25 | $300 | $275 |
| Bill Halter | $445 | $750 | $305 |
| Joe Sestak | $1,320 | $1,600 | $280 |
| Paul Hodes | $1,447 | $1,700 | $253 |
| Robin Carnahan | $1,163 | $1,400 | $237 |
Remember, the contribution you can make isn’t just a donation to a single candidate or political campaign. It’s an investment against Republican obstruction (and conservaDem enabling) and an investment toward achieving that more perfect union.

Even in on “off year” the local party works to establish the funding and infrastructure for the next election cycle. It’s an opportunity to sustain connections and hear from candidates already working hard toward that next cycle. And it’s a chance to enjoy an afternoon of good company, good food, and fundraising for the cause.

Courtney Cole, Democratic Party candidate in the 121st Legislative District, speaking with Johnson County office holders.
A reminder e-mail sent out to local Democrats:
Festival of Soups — this Sunday, 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm, Warrensburg Community Center at Gay & Mitchell Streets.
Funds raised will be used for Democratic headquarters in 2010, and to support local candidates.
You won’t want to miss the delicious variety of soups (a dozen in all, from Italian wedding soup to Chinese hot & sour), the assortment of breads and muffins, the yummy desserts (15), or the opportunity to vote for your favorite soup and dessert (or the cook :-). We’ll have background music, good company, and comments by local candidates about 4 pm.
The silent auction features many household decorative items, from framed prints to quilts and political mugs that change from red to blue when heated. Bidding will close about 4 pm, and we’ll announce the buyers after brief political comments.
Doors open at 2:30 (please don’t come early unless you’re helping set up), and close at 5 pm. You are welcome to come late–there’s plenty of food, and the soups will be kept warm….
I had the good fortune to taste a variety of great cuisine and visit with old and new Democratic Party friends. I also spent some money on a couple of items at the silent auction.

A few college Democrats joined the quest for good food and politics.
Other good Democrats from Pettis and Lafayette Counties joined local folks at the event.

{First, a cheap plug for my blog Senate Guru.}
The last day of the third fundraising quarter of 2009 (whoa, time really flies!) is tomorrow. Our Democratic candidates for Senate – including Missouri’s own Robin Carnahan – need to make as big a fundraising splash as possible in the third quarter to help refute the growing conventional wisdom among the traditional media pundits that 2010 could be a Republican year. And Missouri will be a high-profile bellwether.
Please, please, please consider making a contribution today to Robin Carnahan and our other Democratic candidates for Senate via the Expand the Map! ActBlue page. Robin is more than three-quarters of the way to $1,000 on the page.
Can you help us raise just $238 for Robin Carnahan in the next 48 hours?
Please click on over to the Expand the Map! ActBlue page and make a contribution to help stop ongoing Republican obstruction in the Senate. Need some motivation? Imagine having to say Senator Roy Blunt! Scary, right? Every contribution makes a real impact whether it’s $100 or $25 or $10 or, well, any amount. Want to rebel against multiples of five and contribute $63 or $39 or $27, knock yourself out!
Remember, the fundraising quarter ends tomorrow, so please contribute today if you can. Thank you SO much!
