Spencer Toder (D) [2021 file photo].

Paid for by the candidate’s own committee. How novel.

“…Spencer Toder makes the lives of Missourians better — Every. Single. Day. He’s helped more than 20,000 families sign up for benefits like the Child Tax Credit, rental relief, affordable internet, and Medicaid…”

Give us all a brake.

Roy Blunt (r) [2016 file photo].

Yesterday:

Senator Roy Blunt @RoyBlunt
Democrats ignored all the warning signs to ram through a $1.9 trillion partisan spending bill that triggered 9.1% inflation & negative economic growth.
[….]

[emphasis added]

Senator Roy Blunt @RoyBlunt
Now, they’re pushing ahead with more spending & tax hikes that will make the situation worse. They need to pump the breaks before they drive the economy off the recession cliff.
5:16 PM · Jul 26, 2022

There was much hilarity in the responses:

Almost every country in the world is experiencing a 9% inflation rate. Is that the result of U.S.spending?

The spending bill is responsible for worldwide inflation?? Or just MAYBE it’s the ongoing war and pandemic?

Gas prices going down, thanks Biden!

You used to teach history

Not an English teacher – pump the breaks?

Them’s the brakes

Thanks Senator for tweeting about this instead of checking on us constituents going thru historical flash flooding on the east side of the state. [….]

And how does this explain the fact that inflation is global?

Roy Blount, professional water boy. Good job walking the party line.

What, exactly, is the GOP plan to deal with inflation? I haven’t seen anything except mean tweets. Do better!

Old Roy is getting forgetful. He forgot about all the tax breaks that Republicans granted to the wealthy and corporations during the Trump years…which laid the groundwork for our inflation. [….]

You need to do your homework before posts like this

You know you’re party’s too far gone which is why you’re slinking away. Your corporate donors thank you for your service to their interests.

Are you talking about the #GOPTaxScam?

Inflation is a world-wide problem so let’s put it in world-wide contexts.

Uh, maybe it has something to do with covid-caused supply chain issues & the war in Ukraine thanks to your buddy Putin? Quit simplifying complex issues that you must not understand.

Really appreciate your concern for the STL area! Too busy lying about inflation to notice the havoc climate change is wreaking.
#GOPTraitors [….]

That spending and only that spending caused the inflation? How so? Why not the Trump tax cuts? How did it cause worldwide inflation?

Maybe you’re just lying, intent on leaving the Senate with no integrity left at all

Horse shit Roy

It’s so easy to lie for you isn’t it?
So pathetic

Omg just stop with the partisan BS. You are thrilled with your fascist party or you would be backing Liz Cheney. You are a corrupt POS.

Inflation is global. Quit lying you POS.

On the ballot in Kansas on August 2, 2022:

Anti-choice:

“…A vote for the Value Them Both Amendment would affirm there is no Kansas constitutional right to abortion or to require the government funding of abortion, and would reserve to the people of Kansas, through their elected state legislators, the right to pass laws to regulate abortion…”

Who the hell knows?:

Pro-choice:

“…A vote against the Value Them Both Amendment would make no changes to the constitution of the state of Kansas, and could restrict the people, through their elected state legislators, from regulating abortion by leaving in place the recently recognized right to abortion…”

In 2018 over 600,000 people in Missouri voted in the Democratic Party U.S. Senate Primary.

Does anyone actually expect every single one of the eleven 2022 candidates to personally knock on your door and ask you for your vote?

John Danforth, John Wood, missouri, right wingnuts, U.S. Senate

They must truly believe we’re all stoopit.

John Wood [still from campaign video].

John Wood:

[…]

Our choices must be better than two politicians, one who resigned in disgrace from his last job after blackmailing his mistress- and who has since been credibly accused of abusing his wife and child. The other will be a rubber-stamp for Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer’s radical, progressive agenda that is out-of-touch with the values of Missourians.

I’m running for the United States Senate because Missouri voters deserve better than the extreme choices currently being offered by the two parties in this race.

[….]

Eric Schmitt (r), Billy Long (r), Vicky Hartzler (r), and a whole host of other republican candidates would like a word.

Affordable access to health care? Equal access to educational opportunities? Bodily autonomy? Investment in public infrastructure?

We looked over John Wood’s campaign website. Nothing on issues. Nothing. Zip. Zero.

It is then a matter of the company one keeps.

This:

[….]
John previously served as Chief of Staff for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security where he assisted and advised former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff on a broad range of matters, including terrorism, intelligence, preparedness, border security, immigration, law enforcement, and management issues.

John has held several high-level positions at the Department of Justice and in the White House, including Deputy Associate Attorney General and Counselor to Attorney General John D. Ashcroft and White House Deputy General Counsel for the Office of Management & Budget.

John is a former clerk for both U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and U.S. Court of Appeals Judge J. Michael Luttig. Prior to law school, he worked on the staff of U.S. Senator John C. Danforth of Missouri.
[….]

John Ashcroft, Michael Chertoff, Clarence Thomas, and Michael Luttig aren’t considered “moderates” in anyone’s book. John Danforth (r) doesn’t have a particularly impressive record when it comes to endorsements. Why should we listen now?

In 2011, before Josh Hawley (r):

[….]…Question: Do you have any regrets in terms of your career and, if so, what’s your biggest one?

John Danforth: Do I have any regrets? Uh [laugh], I, uh, my net, net answer is I do not. I mean, I really enjoyed being in public office and I hope I did a good job at it. I, I know that I enjoyed it. Are there, are there votes that I took or issues that I championed at the time that, looking back on it from a little bit of distance, I ask myself, why did I do that? Yeah, you know. I mean, I, I’m not, I could, I want to bore you with all, with, with some of them, but, are there issues where if I had to do it over again I would have done it differently? Yeah, sure. But, do I really have regrets about it? No, I don’t. I, I really don’t. But, I, I really enjoyed it and I hope I did well. [applause]

[….]

Apparently John Danforth (r) wants all of us to believe that the third time is the charm.

Some candidates talk about supporting conservative policies during the campaign. I have a real conservative record of protecting our freedom and liberties.
6:02 PM · Jul 22, 2022

There is much hilarity in the responses:

Conservative government is destroying Missouri. We need less of it not more.

Define freedom!

Nope. Not true at all.

Aren’t small government & local control “conservative values”? So why do you support laws to remove local control and tell people they have to follow your religious beliefs?

“I have a real conservative record of restricting, and even erasing, our freedom and liberties.” There, fixed it for you.

And let’s remember that in your world “protecting our freedom and liberties” actually means attacking and actively undermining people’s freedom and liberties. #FuckAbortionBans

You defend only the freedoms you want and the religion you want. This is who you are.

Your record proves you are MAGA GOP intent on destroying Missouri by being against high quality and safe public schools, women’s and minorities rights, and our democracy. No votes for you!

Isn’t your record that of crudely taunting and threatening to take away reproductive rights from Missourians and hanging out with fascists? [….]

Yeah I’m pretty sure I’ve lost freedom and liberties but go off Mary.

Sorry umm what’s this freedom and liberty do you speak of? Because your track record shows that you willfully and deliberately helped make women of Missouri second class citizens.

Protecting who’s freedom and liberties? Please! You’re doing no such thing. This tweet is a lie. Stop lying.

Hey MaryElizabeth? You need to keep your religion to yourself. You have absolutely no respect for the constitution and are so full of yourself that you think you know what is best for other people that you don’t even know.

They consider that a feature, not a bug.
