Today, from lame duck Representative Vicky Hartzler (r):

Rep. Vicky Hartzler @RepHartzler
The 210 million Americans who do not have student loans should not have to pay for those who do.

It is inherently unfair and will be challenged in court.
[….]
9:10 AM · Aug 31, 2022

That was so funny we all forgot to laugh.

Some of the responses:

I’m so excited to see the end of your political career.

You know what makes you #heartlesshartzler is when you tweet crap like this. How many Missouri small businesses could have benefited from the $450,000+ you took in PPP loans?!? You’re a multimillionaire, you didn’t need the $$$, you took it, checks notes, “because you could”!

just a reminder that Vicky Hartzler has received millions in government handouts she has not had to repay to help support her supposedly businesses.

I didn’t get any benefit for the Trump Tax Cut. You grifted over $450,000 on a PPP loan, so when are you paying it back? Oh yeah, it was FORGIVEN.
[….]

Replace “student loans” with “PPP loans” and you wouldn’t send that tweet.

I don’t have a farm but, evidently, I had to pay for yours.

The 330 million Americans who do not have a farm should not have to pay for those who do.

It is inherently unfair and will be challenged in court.

That’s what you sound like.

You should pay back the government loan you received. That sounds fair to me.

I’m not a farmer, why should I pay for crop subsidies? I don’t have kids in schools, why should I pay school taxes?
I didn’t file for PPP loan forgiveness for almost non-existence companies, why should I pay to forgive those loans?
Why are you a hater and a liar?

I’m not a member of Congress who got a free PPP loan that they didn’t have to pay back, and I should not have to pay for the ones that did.

What about the members of Congress who received PPP loans and didn’t pay them back? Can you talk about the fairness of that for a moment, as you appear to have first-hand knowledge of it.

Blah blah blah.

Hmmmm…. wall street bailouts? Tax breaks for the top 1%? PPP loans? Airline bailouts? The list goes on and on. Crazy how when funds go to help everyday people instead of “trickling down”, it’s a big problem.

You voted for Trump’s 2017 tax giveaway to the 1%.

You have no talking room about making people pay for others’ financial responsibilities.

Vicki Hartzler (R-MO) $451,200

Almost ALL of us are not billionaires. So why should we pay for their tax cuts? Talk about “inherently unfair”.

What a hypocrite

Why is it that the professional victims of the Republican Party get to bail out on their loans, bail out their businesses and their friends (that sweet campaign money)- but help actual struggling citizens and “oh woe is us”.

Explain you PPP of $451,200.

I’d rather my tax money went to help people than subsidize corporations.
And, your talking point is getting stale already. [….]

Oh, lord, lady, I pay for a lot of things through the government that I will never receive any benefits from. I don’t have a business that got PPP loans that were forgiven either.

Glad I’m not your neighbor. Are you a “christian” too? It’s not “unfair”. It’s not “illegal”. You are showing what kind of a representative you really are. For the rich!

You might get a hot dish:

So did you have a PPP loan that was forgiven? A whole lot of your Republican colleagues did. Miss #Hypocrite, you should sit down now.

The middle class shouldn’t have to pay for billionaire’s tax cuts and millionaire politician’s PPP loans.
#GOP hate people that work for a living.

The bottom 95% shouldn’t have to absorb the cost of the tax cuts for the top 5% but you were all over that like flies on shit.

Quote newsmax, and immediately know it’s bullshit. You are so bad at this.

Vicky Hartzler (r) [2016 file photo].

A few days ago:

Senator Roy Blunt @RoyBlunt
The Biden administration’s student loan plan is a one-two punch for hardworking Americans. It’s a handout for high-income college & advanced degree graduates paid for by taxpayers who had no part in taking out the loans.
1:24 PM · Aug 24, 2022

Senator Roy Blunt @RoyBlunt
And, it will drive inflation up even further when families are already struggling w/ skyrocketing costs. The plan will also increase the cost of higher education, making it harder to pursue a degree.
1:24 PM · Aug 24, 2022

Some of the responses:

You didn’t complain when the very wealthy & corporations got a big tax cut under TFG or when Wall Street got bailed out. It’s not a student’s entire debt but also encourages those who benefit to go into public service ex. Help the teacher shortage!
Go cry somewhere else.

Roy, I’m an old woman who’s paid taxes for well over half a century. In recent years that money has subsidized Red states, farmers, PPP loans, a failed wall on the southern border, and paid your salary. I’m delighted with some going to student loan forgiveness.

Wrong and you know it, it’s lies.

It’s always interesting to me how republicans are very quick to criticize & blame but excruciatingly slow /inept/incapable at actually coming up with sensible viable plans to help the American people.
Unless there’s $$$ I it for you you could give a rats ass.

Trump declared bankruptcy 6 times. But OK Roy, you just keep being you.

This is a lie and you know it – cancelling debt means loans are not repaid. It does not change taxpayer payments. Your “handout”tax cuts for the rich and corporations cost more ($2.3 TRILLION vs $298 billion). Show me some truth!

I don’t know what universe you are in when those whose incomes are less than $125K are considered wealthy. Of course forgiving PPP ‘loans’ is totally cool. Then giving $2 trillion in tax breaks to the truly wealthy. Corporate bailouts? Sure. We can surely forgive student loans.

Pell Grant recipients and those earning under $125,000. a year are the only ones that will qualify for the program. If you had funded the Pell Grant program years ago, this program would not be necessary. Republicans don’t like to help the average Americans. Just the rich ones.

Most of the benefit will go to people earning under $75k/year.

You could retire with some dignity, you know. You don’t _have_ to exit the stage with dishonest attempts to make the lives of everyday Americans worse.

Heh. We talkin’ about the same Roy Blunt (r)?

You were totally against PPP loan forgiveness, right?

So misleading. Wish you had the courage to be honest with your constituents now that you aren’t running again. Surely, honesty isn’t going to cost you that high-powered lobbying job waiting for you in DC.

Well, actually…

You’re describing when you gave the richest people in the country massive tax cuts and the poorest got service cuts to balance it.

Do you not hear yourself talking anymore?

Go away Roy, you gave billions to you and your rich friends. I can’t wait until you are as irrelevant as John Danforth! #Missouri #GOPTaxScam #GOPHypocrisy

That one left a mark.

High income people who go to college don’t take out loans.

Roy: We all know if this were really and handout to those with high incomes you’d be claiming it was your idea.

And how many tax cuts for billionaires and corporations that pay zero taxes have you voted for over the years? Go away to your high paying lobbying jobs. You don’t care about working people.

I’m a teacher. In Missouri. I’m not “high income”

You’re just angry it’s not more tax cuts for billionaires which is the only thing you ever vote for

Roy what did you call the tax cut ghat you voted for and signed by Trump giving corporations and millionaires like yourself a tax cut without paying for it.

The tax cut of the last administration mainly benefitted the wealthiest. You supported that and that was monumentally unfair. As is your plans to dismantle social security. Too oft it seems your party ONLY caters to the rich and powerful and undercuts the poor and needy.

“The government is only allowed to forgive the debts of rich people. Everyone knows this. The GOP is dedicated to ensuring governmental relief only goes to people that don’t need it, and the plebes can go die in a ditch where they belong!”

— Roy Blunt, 2022

I’m surprised you took the time to remove your lips from trump’s a$$ to comment on this subject.

That’s a lie, and you know it, but you don’t care do you?

He never has.

Yet trump gave a massive and permanent tax cut to corporations and the super rich. Hypocrite much?

“Pay off your own debt!” says a generation of pundits that went to school when classes were $100 and the minimum wage could finance a mortgage on a 2-bedroom home.

For the love of Pete, who the hell do you think took out the loans trying to get better paying jobs, if not taxpayers, Roy?

You really must think people are very dumb.

He does.

Bad combover. Check. Too long red tie. Check. Orange spray tan. Check. Tiny hands. Check. Cluelessness. Check…

Eric Schmitt (r) [2022 file photo}.

This morning:

Eric Schmitt @Eric_Schmitt
US Senate candidate, MO
Joe Biden’s America:

A waitress working double shifts now has to pay for the student loans of the tenured college professor.

Unreal.
11:21 AM · Aug 25, 2022

Some of the responses:

Donald Trump’s America:

A waitress working double shifts had to pay for Republican’s wealthy donors’ tax breaks.

donald trump’s America:

Republicans taking PPP money and having their loans forgiven at the expense of the American taxpayer.

Unreal.
[….]

I mean… first off, you’re wrong about how this all works (which is scary considering you want to represent us in Congress) and even if you were right…

I’d rather do that than pay Missouri taxes for you to fritter away propping up your campaign with frivolous vanity lawsuits.

My taxes pay for the fire department that put out my neighbors house fire, I’m grateful; my taxes pay for the upkeep on widening our local roads and paving them, I’m grateful. You waste our tax dollars suing public schools while intentionally avoiding private schools, I’m pissed!

Better paying the professor than your frivolous lawsuits

If you gave a damn about the waitress you’d vote to raise the minimum wage to $15 and support her right to join a union. You’d guarantee affordable healthcare, child care and higher ed so she could enroll in the professor’s class and still afford basic necessities.
[….]

Now there you messed up Eric. See I was the kid working doubles to pay for college & afterwards paying down my student loans. If someone today gets a little farther ahead because of this great! Working folks aren’t against working folks, we’re against millionaire bigots like you!

Who knows? The waitress could be working double shifts to pay off student loans. Why should she have to work double shifts? The wages are too low. Also, why should she pay more in taxes when the donor class are receiving $2 trillion in tax breaks?

I don’t get your point.
[….]

Eric would rather have Chloe Kardashian get the $$ instead of the working class

The waitress working double shifts already bailed out GM, Chrysler, Citigroup, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, AIG, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, etc. Corporate welfare is fine with you but helping the 40% of student loan holders who didn’t even graduate you’re against?
[….]

Or maybe…that waitress is working double shifts to pay off her student loans in order to make a better life for herself. Did that cross your mind?

Donald Trump’s America:

A waitress working double shifts now has to pay for the salaries of giant corporation executives.

Unreal.

We also pay your salary and that irks me greatly. You’re also not telling the truth, but we already know that about you.

Curious that you omit the fact that the waitress is working double shifts because she is not paid a living wage or we’re still suffering from TFG’s botched idea of a tax plan for the middle class [….]

How about what she had to kick in for for your frivolous lawsuits?

Lemme tell ya something.

I returned to school to be a teacher- and have tons of loans b/c of it. My 1st teaching job pd less than bartending F/T. And get this! Teacher pay is so low I had to CONTINUE bartending 2xs a wk for 10 yrs while teaching full time. TO PAY MY LOANS.

Says the guy who used our tax dollars to sue China for COVID and hoarding “life saving masks,” and then sued our school districts for having mask mandates.

Eric Schmitt’s Missouri. A waitress working double shifts has to pay TWICE for Eric Schmitt’s frivolous lawsuits: once for the AG’s office legal fees, and a second time for the legal fees of the school districts and local governments who have to defend against the suits.

Tax payers aren’t paying for this.

Most people affected have already paid tens of thousands in just interest payments toward their loans, the rest will still have years worth of interest to finish paying off.

Oh, and it’s likely the waitress was one who got that forgiveness.

What have you done to raise wages so that waitress doesn’t have to work double shifts?

A tenured college professor has already paid off their loans Eric. The waitress probably has student loans and no degree!

What’s yr policy for improving constituents lives. More frivolous lawsuits? Big Corp trickle drown?
CAFA farms for china? Yr state salary wasnt enuff?

Salus populi suprema lex esto.

Remember that you wanted to end the ACA and guarantee that waitress would never have health insurance.

No, her tax rates aren’t going up one cent. The real crime is that Billionaires got a tax cut under Trump, they should be paying more.

87% of debt cancellation benefits people who make less than $75k per year. The other 13% who will benefit make less than $125k per year.

Your party voted for a $1.9 trillion dollar tax cut for billionaires and corporations in 2017. Shut up.

So…. You’re not bothered by teachers being paid horrible wages or a waitress having ti work double shifts to make ends meet.
Just someone other than Rich people getting tax dollars???

Republican America: A waitress cannot have bodily autonomy and pays for tax breaks for the wealthy, PPP loan forgiveness and farmer subsides. She likely has student debt and is excited to not be anchored down to them anymore.

What did you do sir during your time in the Missouri legislature? Did you make sure Missouri Universities were funded to keep tuition low? Did you support higher minimum wages so students could help pay for school? As AG did you protect students from predatory loan servers?

But Republicans like Eric are just fine with that same waitress working double shifts to pay for forgiving PPP loan debt, or more tax cuts for corporations.

Lol. You are so embarrassing.

… just like the tenured professor had to pay for the double shift waitress’ public education. Unbelievable [….]

I was a single mother waitress working double shifts to try to avoid the unavoidable loans that are crippling and now I owe more than I took out despite 15+ years working in public service and years of $600 payments. Would love to explain how life works to you sometime

A retired teacher in MO has to pay for tax cuts for billionaires. Unreal.

Kind of like how my taxes pay the salaries of politicians who were okay with Trump trying to overthrow democracy. That’s how taxes work.

I imagine it must be fun to have no real plan, no real clue, no sense of empathy, and to just go through life #makingschmittup

As if you care about working people…

What makes you think that waitress doesn’t have student loans and is working double shifts to try to pay them off. My husband worked in restaurant for decades and he and many of his co-workers had college degrees, Mr. Man of the People.

that tenured professor just might be paying more federal taxes than that waitress and that waitress might be benefiting from some the professor’s tax dollars too. crazy how that works.

Eric, I’m sorry college didn’t work out for you. I can’t wait to save that money though and invest it into Chinese stocks.

OR , Joe Biden’s America:

A waitress working double shifts now has her student loans paid for.

Win for America

Lazy and vapid, even by your standards.

And that waitress working double shifts might actually have student loans but didn’t finish school. And that waitress working double shifts has to pay to make up for the taxes the richest 1% don’t pay.

#SchmittStain’s Missouri:

Missourians have to pay for our Attorney General’s political stunt lawsuits, which are just taxpayer-funded ads for his U.S. Senate campaign.

Unethical, but definitely very real.

But you didn’t care about the Trump tax cuts and corporate bailouts now, did ya?

Shut up, you fascist traitor.
[….]

No, they are paying the PPP loans for your rich buddies

If you actually cared about that waitress working a double shift, you’d vote to increase the minimum wage.

#GOPLiesAboutEverything

Only an elitist like you would assume the waitress didn’t have any student debt.

Is this your whole campaign strategy? Take queues from the media environment and stand for nothing?

Yes. This has been another edition of Short answers to simple questions.

My niece is a waitress. She has a BA and $24k in student loans and was a Pell grant recipient. She’s saving up to get her MA and become a teacher. Forgiveness of that $20k is life-changing for her. There are millions of others in similar positions.

Why do you hate education and educators SO MUCH? This tweet insinuates that professors are wealthy elites sponging off of the working class. Your transparent desire to villainize educators is sickening, especially since you benefitted from a good deal of high-quality education.

And you want to keep her pay low.
Waitresses go to college, you classist bozo.

What an asshole.

“…Mitt Romney apparently sold his car elevator house. His cars must now take the stairs at his remaining homes.” – Jamison Foser

Yesterday:

President Biden @POTUS
United States government official
If you make under $125,000, you’re eligible for up to $10,000 in student loan debt relief.

And almost ninety percent of the benefit will go to folks making less than $75,000 a year.
5:05 PM · Aug 24, 2022

Also yesterday:

Senator Mitt Romney @SenatorRomney
Sad to see what’s being done to bribe the voters. Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan may win Democrats some votes, but it fuels inflation, foots taxpayers with other people’s financial obligations, is unfair to those who paid their own way & creates irresponsible expectations.
11:14 AM · Aug 24, 2022

There was much hilarity in the comments:

Was it bribery when your party added $1.9 trillion to the debt to give your wealthy corporate donors massive tax handouts?

Feel free to pay your fair share of taxes if you want to help out.

GOP had $2 trillion bribe for millionaires like yourself, which added $2 trillion in debt without growing the economy. All it did was make rich even richer.

This debt relief will help most Americans get ahead, expand economy, and lessen debt burden. That’s a good thing.

If we wanna talk about anything Sen. Romney let’s talk about health care, SS, and why education is in such a mess here in the “richest country in the world”. Oh,I forgot, It’s just about the wealthy in America.

What did the Trump Tax Cuts do to our deficit? You supported that, Mittens.

Mitt Romney was ALL IN for the GOP Tax Scam though, which gave tax breaks to millionaires like himself and exploded the deficit.

Oh he absolutely loves it! Mitt also voted for the US to default on the tab the GOP ran up in under 4 years. GOP cares about giving 2T in tax cuts to the 1% on the backs of the middle class, but he absolutely draws the line at working day people receiving help.

Your entire career has been one long gift to donors and your own wealth via carried-interest loophole preservation. Want to talk about an immoral scam? Look into what carried interest is and why the loopholes are disgusting.

Senator – #Trump & #GOP 2017 unfunded tax cut was a BRIBE for the top 1% of voters and in-part raised US national debt by 40% to $28,000,000,000,000, from 2017-2020! You know this as you voted for that “BRIBE” !
Cut the hypocrisy, Sir!
[….]

This is a hideous comment from one of the richest men in politics.

I’m not terribly interested to hear the opinion of a plutocrat who advocates a selfish “I’ve got mine” mentality from their perch of power. Why don’t you focus on industries that actually drive inflation rather than harp on about relief measures to actual people?

I had school loans, paid them back. That was when college costs were reasonable. Now, they’re out of control.

State colleges and Universities should be free to students qualifying for them. An educated society is better for all of us.

That’s strange. I didn’t hear you complain about how unfair it was to those who paid their own, when Republicans granted the richest among us a $2.5 trillion tax giveaway.

You really have the audacity to tweet this?

He also thought he’d be President.

Well I’m sitting here trying to remember the last time your party did anything to help the lower and middle class and dang it, I can’t think of a thing. I do remember that huge tax cut you all gave to the millionaires and billionaires though, To get their support and donations.

Student loan forgiveness is good for everyone.
What’s coming from the wealthy elite is all noise.
It shouldn’t even be up for debate.

And this statement coming from someone who is wealthy, feels entitled and could care less about others who are struggling and need a little help! Voters see clearly what your party stands for, they need no bribes!!

Kinda like corporate bailouts and tax cuts for the 1%? But those are okay, correct Milt?

God forbid we give taxpayer money to taxpayers instead of billionaires, right?

Now do rich people and oil companies.

Legacy hire who sold stock gifted to him by wealthy and successful daddy to pay college costs has thoughts.

Y’all hand out tax cuts to billionaires like candy for the last 40 years miss me with this fiscal responsibility posturing

It doesn’t end…
