Mark Alford (r) [2023 file photo].

Congressman Mark Alford
[February 27, 2024]
As far as I’m concerned, I’m a no-go for additional Ukraine funding.
We have yet to receive answers from Zelensky regarding what victory looks like.
Is it reclaiming Donbas and Crimea, or returning to Ukraine’s pre-1991 borders?
Unless we receive these answers, this remains a no-go.
[….]

You might want to remember that in the future when someone you know is in a muddy trench in the Fulda Gap screaming in terror while looking up at approaching Russian tanks.

“Make America Great Again” – in Russian.

Some of the responses:

So – you hate any version of democracy or just American democracy? (FYI – any version of theocracy is NOT any kind of democracy – republic or otherwise.)

Putin is so proud of you comrade Mark Afraid!

This guy is one of the many things that’s wrong with Congress.
He supports Trump and Putin.

So a yes-go to Putin? The same Putin who paid the Taliban to murder US Soldiers?

Just like we ignored Hitler, huh? Ukraine didn’t start this. How do you start with an end in mind when you are invaded? Turning your backs on our allies. Shame on you all!

It’s all about making the democrats look bad at all costs. Mark gets his marching orders from the Trump Dump.

As a mother of a Army Soldier and Aunt of an Air Force Airman this disgusts me.
You want to put American lives in jeopardy because of the GOP’s ties to Russia.
You insult the Military.
Whose side are you on?

“Россия” (Russia) – a variant of the Russian presidential flag.

Asked and answered.

BoneSpurs Draft Dodger and the MAGA GOP Congress members are on Putin’s side. Trump wants the power of a dictator. Mainly to get out of his illegal activities and to fleece the American people out of more money.
[….]

Just another TROLL with nothing to prove you are who you claim to be. I’m wondering are YOU the Russian? There is nothing to PROVE you are not.

Over $692,000,000 of Ukraine funding has gone to MISSOURI businesses.

Just hand Ukraine over to Russia, Mark. That’s what you’re doing.

Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union not long ago.

And I thought Mark posted stupid comments.

Arizona was part of Mexico not long ago. Come to think of it, so were California, New Mexico, and Texas. Louisiana was a part of France. Alaska was a part of Russia.

Why do you think the Ukrainians are fighting so hard to get the Russians out of their country? Why do you think the Baltic nations and Poland are rearming? They know what it means to be occupied by Russia. They’ll die fighting before submitting to Russian domination again.

They currently are.

I urge you to reconsider your position. A Russian victory in Ukraine will encourage further adventures by Russia, China, and others. It is time for the Western Democracies to stand strong together. An isolationist policy will make us more vulnerable militarily and economically. Ukraine has been clear in its objectives: to expel Russia from Ukraine and reestablish the border as it was in 2014. Failing to support Ukraine will be disastrous to American foreign policy moving forward.

Putin pulling your strings?
SHAME, SHAME, SHAME.

What’s the plan for when Russia takes over Ukraine and moves on to the next European country?

Listen to the screams in the Fulda Gap.

The House Putin Caucus has spoken. Ah, we probably won’t ever need NATO for anything.

Article 5 of the NATO treaty has only been invoked once in its existence – on October 4, 2001. To support the United States.

They’re fighting for their lives. They don’t know about tomorrow for Christ sake. Resign.

You are a putin puppet.

Putin loving useful idiots says what?

all in fealty to your orange odorous jesus.

who gave you the notes you used to make this comment? Because it’s certainly nothing you came up with on your own. #Traitor #UnfitToServe #PutinsBitch

I am a “NO GO” for your next election!

GOP = Goverment Of Putin

what’s the plan when Putin invades the next European country? How many countries you willing to give him?

About what I expect from you.
Zelinsky put out his demands before he entertains peace talks in December, 2022.
He wants Crimea, Donbas, and all other territory russia has taken since they started the war.
Do you read mark?
Do you have someone to help you read?
mark, just admit they you’re anti-America and a putin lap dog like donny, your hero.

Putin thanks you.

The Red Lily – Anatole France

…For the poor it consists in sustaining and preserving the wealthy in their power and their laziness. The poor must work for this, in presence of the majestic quality of the law which prohibits the wealthy as well as the poor from sleeping under the bridges, from begging in the streets, and from stealing bread…

Today, from the U.S. Supreme Court:

(ORDER LIST: 601 U.S.)

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2024

CERTIORARI GRANTED

23-939 TRUMP, DONALD J. V. UNITED STATES
(23A745)

The application for a stay presented to The Chief Justice is referred by him to the Court. The Special Counsel’s request to treat the stay application as a petition for a writ of certiorari is granted, and that petition is granted limited to the following question: Whether and if so to what extent does a former President enjoy presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office. Without expressing a view on the merits, this Court directs the Court of Appeals to continue withholding issuance of the mandate until the sending down of the judgment of this Court. The application for a stay is dismissed as moot.

The case will be set for oral argument during the week of April 22, 2024. Petitioner’s brief on the merits, and any amicus curiae briefs in support or in support of neither party, are to be filed on or before Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Respondent’s brief on the merits, and any amicus curiae briefs in support, are to be filed on or before Monday, April 8, 2024. The reply brief, if any, is to be filed on or before 5 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2024.

Bad combover. Check. Too long red tie. Check. Orange spray tan. Check. Tiny hands. Check. Cluelessness. Check. Arraignment. Check.

Must be nice.

Meanwhile, remember to pay all your parking tickets.

Mark Alford (r) [2023 file photo].

Today:

Mark Alford
[February 25, 2024]
I’m committed to serving ALL 772,047 constituents in the 4th congressional district, Republican, Democrat, independent, political agnostic.
So when I get comments like this from [….] on a Sunday scripture we post, I have to remind myself of that, suck it up and move on.
When I was on tv I wanted everyone to like me and watch our station. Once I got into politics, I quickly realized I can’t worry about being liked. Simply do what’s right, stand for what is right and follow God’s voice every day.
This is a spiritual battle, and our nation is at stake.
Love you ALL! And I do mean all.
~Mark

“…on a Sunday scripture we post…”

On the social media page in question:

Official page of Congressman Mark Alford | Proudly representing Missouri’s 4th Congressional District

That opened the door.

Avoid the end by avoiding the beginning.

Good look, that, a member of Congress naming someone and punching down.

As for the rhetorical slap fest on orthodoxy, we don’t have a dog in that fight.

Probably not attributable to Ghandi.

DAMAGE CONTROL
Republicans Are Scrambling to Salvage Their Doomed Biden Impeachment Push
The party’s star witness was charged last week with making everything up. The DOJ added on Tuesday that he admitted Russia was feeding him info
BY JEREMY CHILDS
FEBRUARY 21, 2024

[….]

THE DEPARTMENT OF Justice has charged a former FBI informant — whose claims Republicans used to bolster allegations of a corrupt bribery scheme involving Hunter Biden and the Ukrainian energy company Burisma — with two counts of making false statements to federal authorities.

The indictment, announced Thursday by Special Counsel David Weiss, alleges that Alexander Smirnov “falsely claimed” that during two business meetings in 2015 and/or 2016 “executives associated with Burisma, admitted to him that they hired [Hunter Biden] to ‘protect us, through his dad, from all kinds of problems.’”

Smirnov added that the Burisma officials also said they had paid “$5 million each” to Joe and Hunter Biden, so that the then vice president’s son would “‘take care of all those issues through his dad’ referring to a criminal investigation being conducted by the then-Ukrainian Prosecutor General into Burisma.”

The indictment alleges that “the events that Smirnov first reported to the FBI Agent in June 2020 were fabrications. In truth and fact, the defendant had contact with executives from Burisma in 2017, after the end of the administration when [Joe Biden] had no ability to influence U.S. policy and after the Ukrainian Prosecutor General had been fired in February 2016.” The DOJ claims that Smirnov “transformed his routine and unextraordinary business contacts with Burisma in 2017 and later into bribery allegations,” after expressing bias against Joe Biden’s candidacy for the presidency in 2020.

[….]

And:

A now-indicted FBI informant was at the ‘heart’ of the GOP’s case against Joe Biden
After the indictment of the source of false allegations against the president and Hunter Biden, Republicans are downplaying the extent to which they relied upon the claims.
[….]
House Republicans even threatened to hold the director of the FBI in contempt last year to force the bureau to show them the underlying documents, which were eventually released, sparking breathless headlines in conservative media outlets about the false allegations that Biden and his son Hunter were paid $5 million in bribes.

Just weeks ago, one of the leaders of the impeachment inquiry even pointed to Smirnov’s alleged lies to the FBI as their strongest evidence.

“That to me is really the heart of this matter,” Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio — a staunch ally of former President Donald Trump and one of the architects of the impeachment push — said in a Jan. 11 appearance on Fox News, referring to the FBI FD-1023 confidential human source form containing false allegations from the now-indicted former FBI informant. “The most corroborating evidence we have is the 1023 form from this highly credible confidential human source.”

Now, after the source of those allegations has been federally charged, House Republicans say that it wasn’t the “heart” of their inquiry after all.
[….]

Useful idiots.

“Make America Great Again” – in Russian.

Last August:

[….]
Mark Alford (r): “Well, let me tell you what’s going on and, and a little about how this works. Um, so as soon as we took power in Congress, uh, in early January, and even before that, early, the formation of these committees started. So, Judiciary, which is run by Jim Jordan, you know him, and then our Oversight committee run by James Comer, uh, both men of integrity, both Christians, and both trying to find the truth in all this. They have been digging, and digging, and digging. This is why you see these bank records that have come out now that have linked directly twenty million dollars at a minimum in illegal payments that have come from, uh, oligarchs in Russia, Ukraine, and some from China, an adversarial nation, that have gone to the Biden crime family. And so, as this is coming up, as they are interviewing more people it does take time. I know the American people, on you and I, are frustrated. And that’s why I pushed [House Speaker] Kevin McCarthy last week when I talked to him. I said, we’ve got to have an impeachment inquiry when we get back.”

Question: “And please make it where we can watch it.” [voice: “Um, hm.”]

Mark Alford (r): “It will be where you can watch it. I guarantee you that. Um, here, here’s the difference though, all right, I, let’s go back a couple years when the Democrats were, had their knives out for Trump and impeached him twice, right, on, on, stupid things that he should never have been impeached on. And yet the Democrats because they were in power and they controlled the House and the Senate, uh, they were able to do that. Um, they didn’t get a conviction in the Senate, so it was really control in the House. But my point is, is that, um, they made a mockery [“They did.”] out of the jud…, out of the impeachment process. We cannot, you know, I know that Republicans are always like the nice guys. But we’ve got to protect our republic. [voice: “Yes.”] And part of that protecting our republic is defending the Constitution. [voice: “Yes.”] And part of defending the Constitution is doing it the right way. [“it is.”] Congress has two big powers, to declare war, and to impeach. And if we don’t do it in the right way we’re not gonna get Democrats on board with us to see the truth and admit the truth. And to convict in the Senate. And we’re going to do, do a disservice to our future generations by continuing to make a mockery out of impeachment [inaudible]. Now we’re, we’re gonna have an impeachment inquiry. I’m ninety-nine percent sure of that. um, it, but it may take a while to get it done. There’s still new evidence that’s coming out. Uh, every day they’re interviewing someone new. They subpoenaed the IRS agents, the investigators who’ve looked into this. And they’re going to make them talk on Capitol hill.”
[….]

It’s a clown show.
