Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, pardon, president

“…In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me – and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough…”

Joe Biden (D) [2020 file photo].

Tonight:

December 01, 2024
Statement from President Joe Biden

Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter. From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted. Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form. Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.

The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election. Then, a carefully negotiated plea deal, agreed to by the Department of Justice, unraveled in the court room – with a number of my political opponents in Congress taking credit for bringing political pressure on the process. Had the plea deal held, it would have been a fair, reasonable resolution of Hunter’s cases.

No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son – and that is wrong. There has been an effort to break Hunter – who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me – and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.

For my entire career I have followed a simple principle: just tell the American people the truth. They’ll be fair-minded. Here’s the truth: I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice – and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision.

Biden to issue pardon for Hunter Biden
By Paul Campos / On December 1, 2024 / At 7:36 pm
[….]
The presidential pardon power is a royalist anachronism that either shouldn’t exist at all, or should be far more hemmed in by bureaucratic limitations than it currently is, but that’s not relevant to the merits here. Those include:

(1) Hunter Biden was subject to criminal prosecution for purely political reasons. The offenses he was convicted for are almost literally never prosecuted. The tax evasion charge is particularly outrageous: pursuing criminal charges for tax evasion when the defendant has paid back all the taxes, penalties, and fines that the taxpayer owes essentially never happens.

(2) That Republicans will scream about this is, under the circumstances, something to which any decent person, i.e., not a Republican, should pay exactly zero attention.

Yes, somebody is a fool here, Josh…

Look in the mirror.

Josh Hawley (r) [2016 file photo].

Today:

Senator Josh Hawley
[March 1, 2024]
Hunter has a litany of excuses for why he sold access to Joe. He was either drunk, high, or had amnesia.
The bottom line is the Biden family is playing Americans for fools.
[….]

Some of the responses:

Hawley working his main job for Fox News…….wonder why he is on there so much? Would it have anything to do with the lies that Fox News tells and endorses?

For every bill, particularly the recent one that addressed the border, you have had an excuse to vote no if it was not a Republican led bill. For every issue you have chosen to highlight and make worse your excuse has been to blame someone else for the problem and to ignore the work that you SHOULD have been doing to solve it. Criticizing confessions or explanations for being ‘excuses’ is not just projection and gas-lighting. It is dishonest and dishonorable.

Fine, impeach if you must. However he didn’t take the fifth once in seven hours. What ya got?

As usual Hawley vomiting more lies and propaganda.

Unbelievable nonsense. What is all this wasted time, effort and money instead of doing the actual work. So stupid. Vote this do-nothing coward out.

You know you got to be a pretty horrible Senator if the only network that you can get on is Fox News with this crazy woman he’s just a bad seed can never be trusted vote him out

From the testimony:
SWALWELL: Any time your father was in government, prior to the Presidency or before, did he ever operate a hotel?
BIDEN: No, he has never operated a hotel.
SWALWELL: So he’s never operated a hotel where foreign nationals spent millions at that hotel while he was in office?
BIDEN: No, he has not.
SWALWELL: Did your father ever employ in the Oval Office any direct family member to also work in the Oval Office?
BIDEN: My father has never employed any direct family members, to my knowledge.
SWALWELL: While your father was President, did anyone in the family receive 41 trademarks from China?
BIDEN: No.
SWALWELL: As President and the leader of the party, has your father ever tried to install as the chairperson of the party a daughter-in-law or anyone else in the family?
BIDEN: No. And I don’t think that anyone in my family would be crazy enough to want to be the chairperson of the DNC.
SWALWELL: Has your father ever in his time as an adult been fined $355 million by any State that he worked in?
BIDEN: No, he has not, thank God.
SWALWELL: Anyone in your family ever strike a multibillion dollar deal with the Saudi Government while your father was in office?
BIDEN: No.
SWALWELL: That’s all I’ve got.
So the question is, why is Manhood Man NOT demanding answers to any of that?

Proof and not from the GOP Russian asset. You are embarrassing to the state of Missouri

At least hunter didn’t start a insurrection, what a joke

Senator Hawley, I must now enter a code before I can send a Facebook message. The reason is because the FBI are documenting all my Facebook messages.? Possible Chinese hackers are playing dirty tricks and spreading fake Facebook messages under my Facebook account? I am 77 years old and a Trump voter. I am a model citizen. I ask hard questions on the Facebook format. For example, HAS MITCH MCCONNELL EVER TURNED DOWN A BRIBE? How much damage can MCCONNELL do, until he retires? Colonel MacGregor tells the truth about the Ukraine! The Ukraine War is lost! Why throw good money after bad money? MCCONNELL always crawls at President Bidens feet and begs? Another question is……….Did the FBI turn 9 tons of Abe Lincoln gold over to President Biden and George Soros, for the purpose of spreading bribes to get Biden elected again? Soros is not very popular in El Salvador! Has Soros financed El Salvador criminals to immigrate into the USA? My opinion.

Do you ever do any real work?

No. This has been another edition of Short Answers to Simple Questions.

Run josh run.

Missouri needs to replace Senator Josh Hawley with someone who works for the U.S. and not for Russia.
[….]

Why are you silent about trump’s son-in-law receiving $2 BILLION from the Saudis?

The GOP and you propaganda pushers are playing Americans for fools

Going to beat this baseless propaganda to death even when we know it’s all deflection and lies. Going to visit Putin like Tucker did Josh? [….]

We can always tell who wakes up with the ” hint of Trump” on his breath every morning Sen Josh Hawley

This Liar has done nothing for MO or America, he’s a total waste … horrible AG and worthless as a Senator … simply lining his pockets

you’re the fool.

The reality is these charges don’t even scratch the surface of the alleged web of back door deals between Hunter Biden on behalf of Joe Biden & foreign actors. Transparency is critical & investigations into Hunter Biden must continue regardless of whatever “deal” was struck.
9:52 AM · Jun 20, 2023

Some of the responses:

Did you try this case?

You got NOTHING!!!!

They never would, because those charges are completely unrelated to any of the assertions (not evidence) presented by political hacks. But you knew that…

Like this case? Where Trump stole $500k from kids with cancer and also made a plea deal?
[….]

Now do Trump.

That’s because the 5-year investigation by a Trump appointed prosecutor couldn’t find anything else, Nimrod.

Meanwhile, Kushner gets $2 BILLION from the Saudis out in the open and @Eric_Schmitt is too much a partisan coward to say a word about it. Before you speculate on this nonsense, maybe comment on the overt bribery going on.

Instead of complaining on Twitter, you should contact your Missouri Senator and ask for more investigation, Er. Oh, wait…….?

Seriously, Eric – this is what you’re worried about? Not #Missouri? Not that our kids’ schools are being fully funded? Not that kids go hungry?

Kind of took the wind out of your sails, bro.

Reminder. The US attorney overseeing the Hunter Biden criminal charges is a Trump appointee left in place by Biden. (And no, Trump would never do anything like that)
8:56 AM · Jun 20, 2023

This is NOT what Missourians elected you to do. We have so many issues in Missouri and this nonsense is what you tweet about?!

This was a settlement of charges with a REPUBLICAN US ATTORNEY APPOINTED BY TRUMP. If anything, it’s more harsh than a usual white-collar offender would get. And you don’t have a shred of evidence for your sham investigations.

Show your evidence. You really need to stop just making stuff up. The prosecutor was assigned by Trump. Joe Biden could have replaced him but chose not to. Integrity.

you would think a former AG would know the difference between what is alleged and what can be proven.

“Alleged” on tapes that may or may not exist in possession of a man no one has seen in 3 years and now is supposedly dead. This is the best evidence you fools have come up with. Indicative of your legal acumen.

Quit embarrassing Saint Louis University for giving you a law degree.

What are your thoughts on Trump and his criminal family, jackass?

The reality is that you’re talking out of your a$$ b/c you have zero knowledge of the investigation, zero evidence of any wrong-doing beyond what’s reported in the papers, and the @GOP has zero #Whistleblowers or #Tapes, despite their claims.

Defamation much?

Why didn’t you turn over that mountain of bribery evidence dawg? Because you have none maybe?

So you support the IRS going into Trump’s taxes and examining every deal he’s made, right? What about the money the Saudis gave Kushner? Or the patents Ivanka got?

Let’s face it folks. Hunter was smart enough to cut a deal with the DOJ. Trump could have done that too, but he’s not smart enough to let his narcissism go and admit guilt. Trump will pay for his stupidity, and republicans will defend him. You can’t fix this kind of stupid.

Bad combover. Check. Too long red tie. Check. Orange spray tan. Check. Tiny hands. Check. Cluelessness. Check…
