At about 10:30 a.m. after the rally under the capitol rotunda the demonstration marched to the Governor’s Mansion:

“When politicians lie, people die”

“So bad, even introverts are here”

In front of the Governor’s Mansion in Jefferson City.

Handmaids.

“Women brought you here and women will vote you out”

“Never again”

“No country for old men”

“Oppression is so 1972”

“I will not go quietly back to the 1950s”

“Keep abortion safe and legal”

“We will not go back”

“Stop the war on women, we will not be hushed”

“There’s nothing scary about choice, scary is when you don’t have a choice”

Leaving a message for Governor Mike Parson (r):

Left on the fence at the Governor’s Mansion.

Fierce.

This morning in Jefferson City several hundred individuals showed up at the capitol building (in rainy weather) to protest the radical anti-choice policies and legislation of the republican controlled Missouri General Assembly and Governor Mike Parson (r) and his administration. The rally portion was scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. on the south lawn, but rainy weather moved that portion of the event indoors under the dome.

“We aren’t ovary-acting”

Individuals with their signs started showing up under the dome after going through security shortly after 8:30 a.m.

“I am not your incubator”

The rally and subsequent march to the Governor’s Mansion was initiated by one grassroots individual via social media. The idea snowballed and a permit to demonstrate on the capitol grounds was secured.

“Queen of my own uterus, thank you very much”

The rally under the dome allowed time for individuals to gather, chant, and speak out before the short march to the Governor’s Mansion.

“Keep your rosaries off my ovaries”

“My body, my choice”

“My uterus has more regulations than your gun”

“If you cut off my reproductive choices can I cut off yours?”

“We will not go back”

“Keep your bans off my body”

Speaking.

“Never again”

“If I wanted government in my womb I’d fuck a senator”

“Choice is freedom”

“She had a heartbeat, too”

Handmaid.

Much more competent and effective, on appearances and definitely on substance, than Trump Administration counsel in front of Congress.

This evening in west central Missouri, an aggressive Mourning Dove display – pushing around smaller and larger birds:

So far.

GNDN – “Goes nowhere, does nothing” – the label on access panels and Jefferies Tubes (access passageways, named after the set designer) on the set of the 1960s science fiction television series Star Trek.

Yesterday, at the Missouri Ethics Commission:

C190784 06/18/2019 Believe in Life and Liberty – BILL PAC David Steward PO BOX 1724 Maryland Heights MO 63043 World Wide Technology, Inc Executive 6/18/2019 $75,000.00

[emphasis added]

Other contributions reported in the PAC’s April quarterly report filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission:

FORM CD-1 SUPPLEMENTAL
MISSOURI ETHICS COMMISSION
CONTRIBUTIONS RECEIVED – SUPPLEMENTAL
4/15/2019 Believe in Life and Liberty – BILL PAC

Committee for Economic Liberty PO BOX 1661 St Charles MO 63302 1/27/2019 $150.00

Holland Law Firm LLC 300 North Tucker, Ste 801 St Louis MO 63101 2/22/2019 $4,999.00

Gori, Julian & Associates, P.C. 156 North Main Street Edwardsville IL 62025 2/22/2019 $4,500.00

[emphasis added]

Law firms. St. Louis. Edwardsville, Illinois. New York City?

No expenditures were listed in the April quarterly report. The PAC was established on January 29, 2019. A search for committee contributions via the MEC database came up blank.

And, before:

C190784 02/04/2019 Believe in Life and Liberty – BILL PAC David Steward PO BOX 1724 Maryland Heights MO 63043 World Wide Technology, Inc Executive 2/4/2019 $75,000.00

C190784 03/13/2019 Believe in Life and Liberty – BILL PAC Rex Sinquefield 9 Hortense Place 9 Hortense Place St Louis MO 63108 retired retired 3/13/2019 $75,000.00

[emphasis added]

This PAC is sitting on around a quarter of a million dollars. It’ll be interesting to see who and what they eventually spend it on. Given their big dollar contributors we could probably make a good guess. For now the PAC goes nowhere and does nothing.

Jolie Justus (D) [2019 file photo].

A statement sent to supporters today:

[….]
I love you Kansas City. For the last 20 years I have dedicated my life to making this city a better place. For the last 250 days I’ve had the honor and privilege of traveling to every corner of this great community — talking to our neighbors and connecting with thousands of residents about the future of our home.

We walked the length of the city. We took the time to tour neighborhoods with leaders who work hard every day to build a better community. One neighbor called it – leadership by walking around. We saw first hand what we are getting right — and got an up close look at the problems we still need to solve.

Through it all we were always able to find that Kansas City Spirit. A pride that is bigger than all of us. A desire to make sure that Kansas City’s success continues in every neighborhood.

Along the way, people stepped up to help. We shared a vision. While we didn’t get the outcome we wanted in this election, that vision has not changed.

Thank you to the Justus League and all our generous supporters. Your time, generosity, sweat and passion were felt throughout the city and I appreciate each and every one of you.

So what’s next? First and foremost, I won’t disengage and neither should you. We must support our city’s leaders and keep working to move our city forward. I know that’s exactly what you will do.

Kansas City is on a roll – and we are just getting started. I know you love this city as much as I do and I know you have it in you to stay in the game. Let’s dig deep and make sure we build the safe, diverse, and equitable city that we deserve.

Thank you Kansas City. Now let’s keep walking.

Jolie Justus
