Missouri Governor Mike Parson (r) has not issued a “stay at home” order for the state. Because, we don’t know, “rural, something, something.”

The Johnson County, Missouri Commission and Johnson County Community Health Services, on the other hand:

Johnson County, Missouri “Stay at Home” Order – March 31, 2020 [pdf]

Statistics from Johnson County released today indicate 24 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the county.

Tests administered: 618
Negative: 472
Positive: 24
Recovered: 1
Deaths: 0

From Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission:

This arrived in yesterday’s mail (we let the mail sit, decontaminate it, and, in this case, microwaved it):

This, friends, is a misuse of public funds for partisan political campaign purposes. That asshole doesn’t even believe the stuff on the “b” side of the card, let alone understand the science and math of a pandemic.

When this is over, there better be a whole shitload of accountability and investigative hearings. No more fake “we need to look forward” comity for these sociopaths.

And that, as we say in the business, is the ultimate irony.

Last night:

Kaitlan Collins @kaitlancollins
Trump: “I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators. You know, you go into major hospitals sometimes and they’ll have two ventilators. Now all of a sudden they’re saying, ‘Can we order 30,000 ventilators?'”
8:55 PM · Mar 26, 2020

They need the ventilators because the very large and exponentially increasing number of patients with the most severe cases of COVID-19 need them to stay alive.

Fucking idiot.

Yesterday afternoon:

Josh Hawley @HawleyMO
Took time off? Excuse me? I never left DC. I remained at my duty station, on call, waiting for Nancy Pelosi to send us a bill to act on. And now the country is again waiting for your party to stop playing pathetic partisan games & PASS RELIEF for Missouri & the nation

Alex Witt @alexandriajwitt
Listen, I agree. I just wish Josh Hawley had felt this way last weekend when he took three days off to grill while a pandemic was spreading like wild fire: [….]

High dudgeon, that’s always a good look for a right wingnut politician.

Ten days ago: Sen. Josh Hawley (r): things to joke about on vacation while wearing a white button down shirt during a pandemic and national emergency (March 14, 2020)

Some of the comments:

Josh Hawley: So why don’t Dems cut the BS and do something to help real people, like the thousands of Missourians awaiting direct cash relief who can’t get it because your party won’t answer the call

#NotDying4WallStreet #NotDyingForWallStreet

Partisan games? Which party is trying to give handouts to big corporations? Which party isn’t pushing for the Defense Protection Act to be enacted?
Your tweet itself is part of partisan game you’ve been playing since you took office.

No one said you left DC. We know you don’t have a house in Missouri.

Bruh, YOU PUT IT ON TWITTER!

Why, yes he did.

How about you making sure this bill doesn’t make your private donors pockets thicker while we can’t feed our children!

The GOP and fake populist @HawleyMO are trying to pass a massive bank bailout and corporate slush fund for their billionaire donors — stop noticing peasants!

We’re waiting for y’all to get serious about helping *small* business people and not your wealthy donors like the one I spoke to on Sunday.

Maybe if there wasn’t a $500B fund that Steve Munchin directly decides which corporations get the money and he won’t have to disclose who they are is why the pesky Dems aren’t letting you all railroad us again like in the bank bailout fiasco

Explain the Mnuchin money please. This constituent wants to know.

It’s time for Republicans like you and #MoscowMitch to put American families first.

A $500 billion slush fund for corporations with no oversight is ridiculous. We have to ensure our tax dollars these companies receive goes to their workers — not their CEOs.

Cut the faux military talk “duty station” crap. You were grilling thick steaks on your deck. At your residence in the DC area. I’m not shaming you for cooking your dinner, just don’t make it sound like you are a soldier on sentry duty.

The Senate was off. You weren’t waiting for a call to go back so cut the shit

Why you need a secret half a trillion dollar slush fund?

Do you ever come back to Mo? McConnell dismissed the Senate for a three day weekend while the House was working.

YOU and the GOP are the ones playing games putting big business ahead of the workers.

Send who a bill? Your fearless leader was in Kentucky celebrating with the known perpetrator of sexual assault you all forced onto the Supreme Court.

There’s that, too.

Governor Mike Parson (r) [2018 file photo].

It’s a fucking campaign ad from his campaign account for his 2020 election campaign:

Mike Parson @mikeparson
We’re working hard to protect our first line of defense. That’s why we have 370,000 sets of personal protection equipment on its’s way to those who need it. They will be receiving these shipments in the coming days.

Sociopath.

Some of the comments:

If you need more information about the COVID-19 pandemic, not Gov. Parson’s campaign, call DHSS’ information hotline at 877-435-8411. Now isn’t the time to use a crisis for one’s own political gain; it’s a time to take concrete steps to save Missourians’ lives.

.@MOEthics is this a campaign ethics violation?

Is that a campaign ad on your supplies update?

Man, that is some really crass behavior on the part of @mikeparson/@GovParsonMO

Start shutting down non essential business now. My people are on a job site with a hundred people using three porta potty’s to build a 30 million dollar house for some pricks who already have three homes. Employers and contractors are too greedy or stupid to stop on their own.

Using people’s fear to collect their information for campaign use. Wow.

They’ll need it with your lack of action.

Wow. How low can you go?

NO NO NO DO NOT use this situation to solicit donations. That is awful and shameful. #VoteBlueNoMatterWho

Can’t wait to vote for @nicolergalloway. She will actually respond appropriately to a crisis.

Crass

Governor Mike seems to be as useless as good old Governor Eric

Well gee whiz, mikey

What!!!!!!

You are a disgrace. You are not taking this pandemic seriously and you are not leading; you are hiding. We need statewide directives. School districts and local municipalities need guidance to avoid confusion. After all that you post this, with a number to your campaign.

How about you close schools, eliminate their standardized testing, close bars and restaurants except to delivery or drive through traffic and get us some damn testing and PPE for our healthcare workers including mental health professionals!! What’s wrong with you??

Will someBODY please explain to me why you haven’t closed the schools or restaurants of Missouri yet?

Can I text asshole to that number?

Wow! You are such an asshat!

You jackass! Placing people’s lives in danger.. You are a moron!

George W. Bush, incompetence, presidential pardons

This administration would screw up a one car parade.

Bush withdraws pardon of Brooklyn developer

…BY MICHAEL AMON AND PATRICK WHITTLE | Newsday Staff Writers

7:21 PM EST, December 24, 2008

WASHINGTON – President George W. Bush on Wednesday took the extraordinary step of reversing a pardon issued the day before to Isaac Robert Toussie, the Brooklyn developer convicted of a large-scale Suffolk real estate scam, the White House said…

…Brookhaven Supervisor Brian X. Foley faulted the White House for failing to be “in full command of the facts before executing” the pardon.

“None of this should have been a surprise to them before issuing the pardon,” Foley said…

For Immediate Release

Office of the Press Secretary

December 24, 2008

Statement by the Press Secretary

Yesterday the President forwarded to the Pardon Attorney a Master Warrant of Clemency including 19 requests for pardons with direction that he execute and deliver grants of clemency to the named individuals.

With respect to the case of Mr. Isaac R. Toussie, the Counsel to the President reviewed the application and believed, based on the information known to him at the time, that it was a meritorious application. He so advised the President, who accepted the recommendation.

Based on information that has subsequently come to light, the President has directed the Pardon Attorney not to execute and deliver a Grant of Clemency to Mr. Toussie. The Pardon Attorney has not provided a recommendation on Mr. Toussie’s case because it was filed less than five years from completion of his sentence. The President believes that the Pardon Attorney should have an opportunity to review this case before a decision on clemency is made.
