An ad by the DSCC (Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee) released today:

Narrator: Congressman Todd Akin has a plan for your retirement. Work longer. That’s because Akin would undermine Social Security.

Todd Akin (r): I don’t like it. I didn’t design Social Security. FDR put it in place.

Narrator: Akin would risk your retirement savings with a private investment program that benefits Wall Street.

He’s already taken almost half a million dollars from Wall Street. He’d give them your Social Security money. That work for you?

Congressman Todd Akin, way out of Missouri’s mainstream.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is responsible for the content of this advertising.

Good question. What happens to your privately invested Social Security when Wall Street has another crash? Are we supposed to invest in cat food futures? Just asking.

2012, 4th Congressional District, ad, missouri, Teresa Hensley, Vicky Hartzler

Teresa Hensley’s (D) campaign has released a new ad:

Narrator: Compare the choices. Teresa Hensley, a tough prosecutor who gets the job done. In Washington Vicky Hartzler’s not working for us. She’s voted twice to end Medicare as we know it, forcing seniors to pay more. Instead, tax breaks for millionaires and oil companies making billions. That’s wrong.

Teresa Hensley (D): Congresswoman Hartzler has had two years to deliver results for Missouri families and she has failed.

Send me to Washington and I will work for Missouri families as I have as prosecutor.

I’m Teresa Hensley and I approve this message.

Via Balloon Juice:

…the Obama campaign is already on this one like barnacles on Romney’s yacht…

Win!

A video from the Obama/Biden 2012 campaign:

Barack Obama: I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message.

Narrator: You work hard, stretch every penny, but chances are you pay a higher tax rate than him. Mitt Romney made twenty million dollars in two thousand ten but paid only fourteen percent in taxes, probably less than you.

Now he has a plan that would give millionaires another tax break and raises taxes on middle class families by up to two thousand dollars a year. Mitt Romney’s middle class tax increase, he pays less, you pay more.

Uh, yep.

2012, ad, Claire McCaskill, missouri, Sarah Palin, Sarah Steelman, Senate

A campaign ad appearance by Sarah Palin (r) for Sarah Steelman (r):

Sarah Palin: Hi, I’m Governor Sarah Palin. We get America back on track by sending true conservatives like Sarah Steelman to Washington. Sarah is an economist who defends our tax dollars like a momma grizzly defends her cubs. Sarah Steelman earned her reputation as a conservative maverick, blocking pork barrel spending. And Sarah will fight for a constitutional amendment that forces Congress to balance the budget.

Sarah Steelman: I’m Sarah Steelman and I approved this message because the staus quo has got to go.

….Hi, I’m former half term Governor Sarah Palin….

…Sarah can’t name an economist who actually understands economics…

…Sarah Steelman really earned her reputation on government transparency…

There, fixed it.

4th Congressional District, ad, DCCC, missouri, Teresa Hensley, Vicky Hartzler

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released a new video. Representative Vicky Hartzler (r) is expected to look after her own interests this week, at the expense of the middle class and the federal budget deficit:

Narrator: Good news, Republicans want to cut your taxes. Not you. You. And you deserve a break. After all, these things are expensive. So Republicans want to give you, the millionaire, another tax break. All while charging seniors six thousand dollars more for Medicare. This guy, her? They don’t need it. They’ll just buy groceries and pay the mortgage. But you? You’re going places. And Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler will knock down anyone in your way.

[Tell Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler

Stop putting millionaires over the middle class]

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is responsible for the content of this advertising.

The DCCC statement which was attached to the video:

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) continues on offense, releasing new online ads – titled “The Millionaires” – to expose twenty-three Republican Members of Congress who are about to vote for another tax cut for millionaires at the expense of the middle class and seniors. The new advertising begins today in the districts of twenty-three vulnerable House Republicans as part of the DCCC’s “Drive for 25” campaign to win the Majority.

With 100 days until Election Day, House Republicans will vote this week to give people making more than $1 million a year another $130,000 tax break, according to the Tax Policy Center, and once again double down on their failed priorities instead of protecting the middle class and seniors. This past weekend, the DCCC held “Middle Class First” grassroots events in 19 congressional districts to expose Republicans’ plans to put millionaires over the middle class.

“Democrats are on offense again as House Republicans vote this week to protect tax breaks for millionaires instead of strengthening the middle class,” said DCCC Chairman Steve Israel. “Under House Republicans’ top-down economics, millionaires, corporations that outsource jobs, Big Oil and special interests get a $130,000 tax break which we can’t afford. Democrats are holding Republicans accountable for their misplaced priorities and the heat is on House Republicans for putting millionaires and special interests first, and the middle class and seniors last.”

Uh, yep.

Teresa Hensley, Cass County Prosecutor and the Democratic party candidate in the 4th Congressional District, has her first television ad out today:

[Ron Eads, father of Ruth Eads]

Ronald Eads: My daughter was with her boyfriend. He decided that he wanted to party a little bit and he, uh, wrecked the car, killed her.

[Ruth Eads (1988-2007)]

When it’s time to be firm Teresa wasn’t afraid of that high falutin’ lawyer. She’s always about getting things done.

[Teresa Hensley, Prosecutor, Cass County, MO]

Teresa Hensley: As Prosecutor you don’t get to choose your battles. I know how to take on a tough fight and win. I do it every day.

We need that in Washington, taking on tough fights and getting results for Missouri families.

I’m Teresa Hensley and I approve this message.

There is a big difference.

2012, ad, Claire McCaskill, John Brunner, Majority PAC, missouri, Senate

John Brunner, one of three republican candidates in the August U.S. Senate primary gets the treatment of Majority PAC in an ad:

Narrator: He keeps saying he’ll bring down the debt.

John Brunner (ad): They will not cuts spending, but I will.

Narrator: But John Brunner’s business record says something else. He saddled his own company with one hundred ninety-five million in debt. It was downgraded, rated a higher credit risk. And under Brunner’s leadership the company nearly shut down. John Brunner, debt, mismanagement. How can he fix our problems if he’s part of the problem?

Majority PAC is responsible for the content of this advertising.

Majority PAC?:

Our Mission

Majority PAC was founded by experienced, aggressive Democratic strategists with one mission: Protect the Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate.

That majority-the firewall against the radical Tea Party agenda-is under attack in 2012. Democrats must defend 23 seats, compared to only 10 Republican seats. And only four seats separate Republicans from control of the Senate.

In 2010, the Citizens United decision allowed Karl Rove and a network of Republican-aligned third-party groups to outspend Democrats on television alone by $50 million-swamping the Democratic message in virtually every top Senate race and nearly handing the Senate to the GOP along with the House. Rove has already pledged to spend even more-$240 million-plus-in 2012.

But this time, Majority PAC will level the playing field. Running a transparent, low-overhead, take-no-prisoners Independent Expenditure campaign, we will aggressively contest critical open seats, exploit opportunities to take over Republican seats and expand our firewall, and respond to attacks from Rove and his allies on Democratic Senate candidates.

With your support, Majority PAC will change the game. We will not let Karl Rove buy the Senate. We will hold Republicans accountable. We will protect the Democratic firewall in 2012.

It’s about time.

2012, ad, Obama, war on women

A new ad from the Obama 2012 campaign which will air in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, Nevada, Ohio, and Virginia:

Announcer: The son of a single mom. Proud father of two daughters. President Obama knows that women being paid seventy-seven cents on the dollar for doing the same work as men isn’t just unfair, it hurts families.

So the first law he signed was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to help ensure that women are paid the same as men for doing the exact same work. Because President Obama knows that fairness for women means a stronger middle class for America.

President Barack Obama (D): I’m Barack Obama and I approved this message.

Yep. Can you say: “There’s gonna be a huge gender gap in November”?

2012, 4th Congressional District, ad, missouri, Teresa Hensley, Vicky Hartzler

Teresa Hensley’s (D) campaign has released a new video pointing out a few of Vicky Hartzler’s (r) issues:

Announcer: Washington’s not working. It’s time we send some Missouri common sense problem solving to Washington. It’s time for Teresa Hensley.

Teresa grew up in Missouri and she’s raised her family in Missouri. She know that the families, the next generation, and our seniors need a voice in Congress.

Teresa has served as Cass County Prosecutor for the past eight years where she’s been a common sense fighter for justice for Missouri families.

Teresa Hensley believes in doing the right thing. Her experience, dedication and fairness will serve us well in Congress.

Teresa Hensley (D): I care about the Fourth District and I want to take our Missouri values to Washington.

Announcer: But, Vicky Hartzler? Her votes are hurting Missouri families.

She voted for the Paul Ryan which would eliminate Medicare as we know it.

[Vicky Hartzler: Cuts Medicare, H.Con.Res. 34, Vote #277, 4/15/11]

She says we need to decrease the spending, but she took almost eight hundred thousand dollars in federal subsidies.

[Vicky Hartzler: $800,000 in Federal Subsidies, 1995-2010, C-SPAN, Environmental Working Group]

She also spent more than a quarter of a million taxpayer dollars on campaign style mailings. That’s more than every other Missouri representative – make’s her one of the top spenders in the country.

[Vicky Hartzler: Wasting Taxpayer dollars, Statement of Disbursements of the House, 2011]

That’s Washington politics, not Missouri values.

[Vicky Hartzler: Politics as Usual]

It’s time for common sense in Washington again.

Teresa Hensley: As the Cass County Prosecutor I have sought justice and sought fairness. My ideology will never get in the way of my job.

I can make a difference for the people of the Fourth District when I’m in Congress.

[Paid for by Hensley for Congress]

Previously:

Rep. Vicky Hartzler (r): maybe Medicare isn’t so sacred (May 25, 2012)

Voice: We did. [Voices: “We did.” “We did.”]

Question: Taxpayers. [Voice: “We did.”]

Representative Hartzler (r): Yeah [inaudible].

Voice: We did.

Question: Yeah. [Voice: “We did.”] How much did we pay for mailing privileges since January, July one of two, twenty eleven? Do you know?

The prices on the crops, looking at the expenses, the payments that we had, seeing if we’d be able to make it all work. And after a few years my mom and dad called my sister and I over and said, you need to sit here with us and learn this process…”….
