There was a peaceful “Rally Against Truth Decay” at 12:30 p.m. today on the Johnson County Courthouse lawn in downtown Warrensburg, Missouri. The temperature was in the 90s. There were about 75 individuals in attendance who listened to speakers, held protest signs (against the excesses of the Trump [r] Administration), and signed initiative petitions.

It’s been one hell of a week in America.

“Hey MAGA, isn’t Karma a Bitch?”

Karma is indeed a bitch.

“Loving and Caring”

“Stop the Billionaire Coup”

At half staff on the courthouse lawn:

Charlie Kirk (r):

If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, boy, I hope he’s qualified.

If you’re a WNBA, pot-smoking, Black lesbian, do you get treated better than a United States marine?

Happening all the time in urban America, prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people, that’s a fact. It’s happening more and more.

If I’m dealing with somebody in customer service who’s a moronic Black woman, I wonder is she there because of her excellence, or is she there because of affirmative action?

If we would have said that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called racists. Now they’re coming out and they’re saying it for us … You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to go be taken somewhat seriously.

We need to have a Nuremberg-style trial for every gender-affirming clinic doctor. We need it immediately.

I think it’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the second amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational.

America was at its peak when we halted immigration for 40 years and we dropped our foreign-born percentage to its lowest level ever. We should be unafraid to do that.

The American Democrat party hates this country. They wanna see it collapse. They love it when America becomes less white.

The great replacement strategy, which is well under way every single day in our southern border, is a strategy to replace white rural America with something different.

America has freedom of religion, of course, but we should be frank: large dedicated Islamic areas are a threat to America.

We’ve been warning about the rise of Islam on the show, to great amount of backlash. We don’t care, that’s what we do here. And we said that Islam is not compatible with western civilization.

Islam is the sword the left is using to slit the throat of America.

There is no separation of church and state. It’s a fabrication, it’s a fiction, it’s not in the constitution. It’s made up by secular humanists.

“Culture War – a smokescreen for – Class War”

“When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty”

“Johnson County Democrats”

“Kindness is like glitter. It spreads.”

“MO-GOP hates voters”

“Republican power grab…”

“Melt ICE, Deport Trump”

Lucas Kunce (D): “…And somebody is getting a little scared about it. [laughter] So, uh, so craziest thing happened the other day. Uh, I should give you some background first. So, a year ago I went out to the Missouri State Fair. Go every year, take the family. And, uh, and lo and behold Josh Hawley was at the state fair. And I thought, well gosh, you know, I never met the guy before. Maybe I should go up and say hi to him. [laughter] Can anybody guess what happened? [laughter] I’m telling you people it was January 6th all over again [laughter] Brrrrr, quick as he could, ran away. But, I will give the man some credit, in the intervening year it seems he’s spent a lot of time re-reading his book on manhood, [laughter] uh, because he came to play this year.

Yeah, if you don’t know, Josh Hawley literally wrote a book and titled it Manhood. Like I’m not, I’m not kidding you. It’s, uh, world’s greatest self-help book. You can get it for two dollars on Amazon. [laughter] The, uh, the secrets of masculinity from the coward of January 6th himself. It’s the craziest thing you ever heard. But, um. But, first of all, shame on y’all for laughing. [laughter]

And the reason I say that comes from a very dark place. You see, my campaign manager made me read the thing. I’m never gonna get those hours back and it was a brutal experience. However, and y’all aren’t gonna like this, I wish that we could make that book required reading for everyone who votes in November. I know, you don’t want to read it. But, I’m telling you just think about it, just suffering through that is a small sacrifice for us winning 98 to 2. Because, I swear to God, if everybody had to read it that is how much we would win by. Like, it’s absolutely crazy….”

The “debate on debates” – Governer’s Ham Breakfast – Missouri State Fair – August 15, 2024

Lucas Kunce (D): “…Honestly, I think they can see what a creep the guy is anyway.

And, uh, I actually discovered this personally myself, this was where I was going earlier, at the state year this year. So, if you didn’t see, the wildest thing happened. Again, he came motivated this year. And so, I’m talking to this farmer named [….] in the pavilion, and, uh, we’re just hanging out, he’s talking about beef checkoff programs, you know, all that sort of stuff. Big Ag destroying his livelihood. Sadly, the truth here in Missouri for a lot of folks. And, um, and we’re talking and we just hear this ruckus coming from the background. And, uh, and it starts to get clearer after a little bit. And it’s like, we hear, Kunce! Where’s Kunce? Has anybody seen Kunce? Is Kunce out of his basement yet? [laughter] And we’re like, what on earth is that? And sure enough our sitting U.S. Senator has gone WWE smackdown, I don’t know if everybody watches their Friday night television, the guy’s been watching too much of it. I mean, full on smackdown, running through the hall, yelling as loud as he can for me, and, uh, completely mic’d up, camera crew trailing him, pushing people out of the way to try to find me. [pause] Cutest little western outfit you have ever seen. [laughter] I’m not gonna lie, I’m willing to complement the man when he does something right. I’m telling you, it was beautiful. Pearl snaps. The shirt was a few sizes too small, but, hey man, the rest of it, he really killed it. And, uh [laughter], I get, did anybody see that Barbie movie? [voices: “Yeah.”] I’m telling you right now, midwestern Ken. It was incredible [laughter]. Hair blown out, like, amazing thing, amazing thing.

And so, and so, I’m there and I’m just like, this man is just standing right here, like, just right here next to me just yapping up at me non-stop about who knows what. And, uh, and I’m thinking to myself, again, like, why would a sitting U.S. Senator do something like this? It’s crazy, right? It is fear. It’s fear. He’s seen the same numbers we’ve seen. They’re getting public now and, uh, the man is in trouble and it’s gotten him scared…”

“Josh Hawley is a Fraud and a Coward”

“…Sorry about Josh Hawley…”

“Labor for Lucas”

Lucas Kunce (D): “….I’m gonna tell you right now that’s not the Missouri that I grew up in. It’s just not. But it is Josh Hawley’s Missouri. That is the Missouri that Josh Hawley is bringing to every single one of us. I’m gonna tell you right now, it’s coming for every single corner of our state unless we fight back and take power back right now. [applause]

That’s why I’m here tonight. That’s why I’m doing this campaign. Because we have to fundamentally change who has power in this country. We have to change who has power in this country ’cause they’re just gonna take, take, take, extract our wealth, destroy our communities for themselves, right? That’s what it’s all about. [applause]….”

Lucas Kunce (D): “….I can’t believe I even gotta bring this up. But, uh, I want to acknowledge the biggest investment that we make in our paychecks every single month. Our money, our investment in Social Security and Medicare [voice: “Right.”][applause] These guys want to privatize it. They want to cut it. They want to hand the keys over to Goldman-Sachs. I don’t know if you’ve seen what happened with several pension funds that those guys got their hands on, but they disappeared, and we had to be bailed out by the federal government, right? Never, never, never, never on my watch. I’m gonna tell you right now, I will always protect those programs. [applause]….”

Had a great time at our rally in Jackson County at IBEW Local 124 — lots of people fired up about taking this seat so we can finally have a Senator who will invest in Missouri. Everyday Missourians should call the shots in their own lives — not giant corporations. Not Wall Street. Not Big Pharma or Big Ag or Big Tech. Not politicians like Josh Hawley.

Kennedy Moore, Abortion Action Missouri: …Good morning, Missouri. [voices: “Good Morning.”] Good morning, Missouri. [voices: “Good Morning.”] [….] I just want to say, we made it to the signature finish line. [cheers] We made it, we made it, we made it. And this is a bittersweet moment. Who would have thought that we would be placed in a position for a historic time such as this? Despite every obstacle put in our way by the opposition we made it. [wind noise][….] Some of you I met only about twelve weeks ago. And others I’ve met and been working with for years. And all of us have grown immensely in the past twelve weeks from the work that every single one of us has contributed to the Missourians for Constitutional Freedom campaign. It’s been a beautiful thing to bear witness to. And I hope we will all cherish these relationships that have been built in this time and will continue to be built. A little bit of faith, a little bit of faith is what was instilled in all of our volunteers, to take action, to collect signatures across the state, and in the three hundred and eighty thousand signatures from voters that signed this petition that will be on the ballot in 2024. [applause][cheers] As we stand here before this same building, this same building where they passed the ban, where they signed it, where they signed away our rights to our bodies. [voice: “Boo!”] And where they continue to legislate against our Democracy. [voices: “Boo!”] We take back, we take back that right through the initiative petition process with the thousands of pages of petitions that we just turned in to the [voice: “That’s right!”] Secretary of State this morning. [cheers] The simple fact that we collected more signatures than the amount needed to qualify for the ballot has stretched my faith farther than I can ever imagine to think. It stretched my faith in my self, in my team that I work with every day, our movement, our state, and beyond. The Missourians for Constitutional Freedom campaign and Abortion Action Missouri thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the risks you’ve taken to get here today. We would not be here if you did not put your time, your desire for change in your home state, and your heart on the line. I hope this moment is ingrained in all of us because we are making history. We have built collective power across the state. And that is what true community organizing is about. And I hope that you know you have an organizing home in this community. And anyone else that believes in ending this cruel ban on abortion in the State of Missouri does, too. Thank you so much and I look forward to the Missouri that we will continue to build together. [applause][cheers]

Tori Schafer, ACLU Missouri: … Hey, y’all. Thank you for being here with us today for this momentous occasion. [….] And I am proud to say that every single campaign, every single time this campaign has went to court we have won. [cheers] Nearly fourteen months ago, in March of 2023, we filed this amendment to end our state’s abortion ban. Immediately we were met with political attacks. State officials used the legal system to delay us from collecting signatures. Our campaign had to go to court not once, not twice, but three times before we even began collecting signatures. This significant delay due to litigious actions was an attempt by government officials to prevent us from this very moment. [voice: “Those buggers.”] [laughter] Today we turned in boxes filled with hopes and dreams of bodily autonomy and for a better Missouri. [cheers] Our message is simple and clear. We want to make decisions about our bodies free from political interference. Missourians have had the right to direct Democracy for over a hundred years and the ACLU of Missouri will continue to protect this right. [voice: “That’s right.”] And just as we won our previous cases, we will continue to defeat anti-Democratic attacks in court. [voice: “That’s right.”] We are confident our signatures meet the standards required by law and have no doubt our measure will be in front of Missouri voters. [cheers] Thank you to our volunteers who followed our very strict rules and literally crossed every ‘t’ and dotted every ‘i’. Our campaign is Missouri grown, Missouri led, Missouri litigated [cheers] and we will win on Election Day because of Missourians. [cheers, applause]

[“When abortion rights are under attack, what do we do?” “Stand up, fight back.”]

Tori Schafer, ACLU Missouri.

The transcript:

Q: I guess my first question is I know it was, uh, three hundred and eighty thousand signatures you have to gather from six of the eight [congressional districts]. Where you able to do that and were you able to go above that? Because I’ve heard all eight, but I want to make sure I know exactly. [crosstalk]

A: To be clear, more than three hundred and eighty thousand signatures. And, yes, we were, we overqualified, we shattered our greatest expectations. We exceeded them.

We gathered in all hundred and fourteen counties in Missouri and by far hit our goal, hit and exceeded our goals in all six, in all, in all [eight] congressional districts.

Q: So did, that means you hit the eight percent in all eight districts?

A: Be. Well beyond.

Q: [….] My question to you, we’ve seen, uh, uh, a battle from, from the, uh, Attorney General [Andrew Bailey] and the Secretary of State [Jay Ashcroft] throughout this whole process. Are you expecting any hiccups in the coming weeks. And if so, are you watching closely? Kind of explain that.

A: You know, there shouldn’t be any hiccups because we clearly followed the law. Our volunteers, you can talk to [inaudible], they followed the rules to a tee. And like we’ve said, we’ve exceeded our signature goal, but we are, of course, preparing for anything. And we’re confident that any attacks that we experience are politically motivated. And we’ll win again in court.

Q: Given that the Supreme Court of Missouri made a final judgement on this language do you think that sort of helps, uh, shield against the accusation that the language was misleading to voters?

A: Oh, it certainly should. You know we, you all were there for when we took that up to the court and successfully won. We believe our language is a fair, and true, and accurate account of what our amendment does. Uh, and we’re confident in Missouri voters when they see that language they’re gonna vote ‘yes’.

Q: What, what do you make of, uh, the reported campaign to motivate people to withdraw their signatures. Uh, what do you make of that effort?

A: I think if, I think it shows that they know that they can’t beat us. They know that Missourians aren’t with them. If they thought that they could win this on its merits, if they thought that they could defeat us on their merits they wouldn’t be resorting to underhanded attacks, disinformation, and blatant lies.

Q: And, and speaking, and, in that vein, we saw a thirty plus hour filibuster [in the Missouri Senate] about the initiative petition [process]. Was it really about this?

A: They’ve been, anti-abortion politicians have been blatant that their attempts to make the process harder, to participate in direct Democracy, is about abortion access. It is about seeing in state, after state, after state that people want private medical care, they want to make their own decisions, including about abortion. And they [anti-abortion politicians] want to make it harder for the people of Missouri to actually participate in this process because they will restore abortion access.

Q: Are you concerned about potential situation where the initiative petition making it harder to amend the Constitution will go on the August ballot, followed by abortion on the November ballot? You’re all shaking your head no, I want, who [crosstalk].

A: Missouri voters are gonna vote it down, they’re gonna see right through it and see it for the lie that it is, just like voters did in Ohio. Um, they’re trying to use every tool in their playbook by, frankly, changing the rules, because we keep on winning. But, we will continue to win.

[crosstalk] Let’s do one more question.

Q: You’re talking a lot about, um, risks that volunteers were facing. What kind of risks were volunteers facing as they were trying to gather signatures?

A: You know, I think that we saw the Decline to Sign campaign hop up in parts of the state. Um, but I actually think what happened whenever those protesters would show up is it would drive more people towards the signature gatherers ’cause it would bring attention that they were there. And then more Missourians said, ‘oh, hey, I want to sign that, too.’

The truly amazing thing [crosstalk][inaudible], the truly amazing thing about doing events all over the state is also there were people who came out because they saw on the […] site, there’s an event in your neighborhood, it’s in Nevada, it’s in Sedalia, it’s wherever you are. But it wasn’t just the people who came because the events were online, it’s because they drove by and stopped and said, ‘I am going to stand up for my rights.’ It was more organic than anything we could have imagined and that’s why we were able to exceed our goals by so much.

All right, thank you everyone.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Following the mass shooting in Kansas City that left one dead and 22 other injured, unfounded reports began circulating on social media, and were boosted by prominent elected officials, that the shooting was perpetrated by an undocumented immigrant.

One such post was made by state Sen Denny Hoskins, R-Warrensburg, who is running for Secretary of State.

“I’d hope this first-hand experience with violent illegal immigrants & repeat violent offenders–children shot at a parade–will help them see the urgent need to close our borders, stop promoting Sanctuary Cities to violent illegal immigrants & end liberal catch & release policies for violent criminals,” Hoskins posted on X, formerly known as Twitter….
