Governor Mike Parson (r) and Missouri First Lady Teresa Parson [2018 file photo].

Two days after announcing she had contracted COVID-19:

First Lady Teresa Parson
@FirstLadyTeresa
➖WE WILL BE PROCEEDING WITH THIS EVENT➖

Come enjoy the outdoor activities and the beautiful fall decorations!

Some of the responses:

#CovidFest2020

Free Covid-19 respiratory droplets for all visitors. No limit!!!!

#WTFiswrongwithyou You both have COVID right now. What part of “QUARRENTINE” Do you not understand?

Sounds like a really great plan to hold an event after testing positive for COVID. Seriously? People are dying. I think your “fun outdoor events” and pumpkins can wait.

Hey, maybe consider NOT doing this during a pandemic? Didn’t you and your husband just test positive?

I mean, as far as I know you can’t get DOUBLE covid, so they have nothing to lose but the lives of their most vulnerable constituents

This is not a good idea. I would think twice about inviting children and families. Missouri remains a problem state for coronavirus. We’re all better off with a mask mandate, right? Get well soon!

42 people died from Covid in the last 24 hours just in Missouri.

Apparently that means nothing to these people.

#governorCOVID

This is selfish.

In addition to getting #covid19, other #fallfest2020 events include unprotected sex with strangers, sharing needles and Russian roulette. Should be a knee-slappin good time.

this is irresponsible.

This is wildly irresponsible, disrespectful and dangerous

#ParsonFamilyCOVIDFest

I’m a RN. Please do not go through with this event. Please listen to the scientific community. We are worn out.

Terrible call! Such disregard for the health of the people of Missouri.

This seems…not smart.

Come share Covid with everyone.

Come for the cookies, stay for the ‘rona

Didn’t your husband back out of a debate tonight because of covid?

didn’t y’all JUST test positive for COVID-19? Maybe sit this one out.

Do you have to bring your own thoughts & prayers or will the event be providing them along with the free coronavirus diagnosis?

Will you and your husband be manning the kissing booth this year?

I’ll be avoiding it like the plague, thank you very much.

Dammit. I’ve already got plans to go lick carts at Walmart that day….

Do those who show up have to sign a waiver?

Free covid for all!

Totally Irresponsible.

What could go wrong?

No thank you. I’d rather be healthy.

Proceeding with an event like while both YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND have tested positive for COVID-19 is asinine! Its no wonder our states cases are out of control when you haven’t cared one bit about the safety of the people who live here. #voteparsonout #COVIDIDIOTS

Are you trying to get everybody sick?

“Masks optional, social distancing whatever.”
THEY LEARNED NOTHING.
#PoliticsOverContagion

What’s wrong with you?

Irresponsible. Deadly. Disrespectful. You are the worst.

Got to keep pretending everything is okay and normal!

Uhhhhh that’d be a hard no. You should have worn a mask like the CDC told you to. You’ll be shedding virus like a maple tree doffs it’s leaves in October.

Are you effing kidding? The governor NEVER gets to say he cares about Missourians ever again.

This is outrageous and irresponsible. I’d hoped your experience would impress upon you both the desperate need for a statewide mask mandate, which that “radical” state of Arkansas has. Are you determined to press your foolishness on the rest of us?

Your festival will spread #COVID19 ; if you had a conscience or sense of moral responsibility that would upset you.

Yes, why keep the covid all to yourself.

Gurl, if you’re supporters really want to own the libs, no masks! Kiss each other! Lick door knobs!! It’s all a hoax, right? Have fun!

Wow, so tone deaf. Meanwhile our nursing homes continue to battle COVID every day because of the irresponsible policies and behaviors of you and your husband. We lost another soul at ours yesterday. But by all means, have a party.

Uhhh ….No Thanks. Keep your Covid to yourself.

At almost 60 year old, I make my first tweet to say “Are you fucking nuts?” You are COVID + and that shit kills. Did you know that?

No thanks…I don’t go to super spreader events held by those who don’t give a damn about spreading COVID.

I think there is something wrong with you.

I would try to explain how idiotic it is to host an event like this when you are currently actively recovering from Covid, but that would require you to have the mental/emotional capacity to understand why it is bad to spread Covid to others. You are a disgrace to this state.

Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes.

What is wrong with you? #ShowMeCovidiots

And on and on.

Oopsie.

In the mail this week:

Support Governor
Mike Parson
and the rest of your Missouri Republican Team

Our Republican candidates up and down the ballot are counting on you to cast your vote this year. Liberal Democrats hope you’ll let fear stop you from voting. Don’t let the Democrats win!

Stay safe. Vote by mail.

Wouldn’t it have been easier just to wear a mask?

“…Liberal Democrats hope you’ll let fear stop you from voting…” Projection, the republican way of life.

New this year in Missouri:
Vote by mail

Notary not required for many voters

Exercise your right

Don’t let the COVID-19 pandemic stop you from exercising your right to vote. If you are 65 or older, or are in an at-risk category for contracting or transmitting COVID-19, you are eligible to vote absentee by mail – without having your absentee ballot notarized.

Keep yourself safe

Voting by mail is easy, and it will help limit the spread of COVID-19. Simply fill out the enclosed application and mail it in to fulfill your duty as an American without putting your health at risk.

Help our nation recover

When you vote by absentee ballot from home and drop it in the mail, you can be confident that all ballots mailed in to your local election authority will be counted.

“…fulfill your duty as an American without putting your health at risk…” Wait, isn’t their dogma that the pandemic is “fake news” and that the risks are overblown? “…If you are 65 or older, or are in an at-risk category…” Wait, aren’t old people expendable?

Keep yourself safe while you vote

Voting by mail is convenient and safe for every voter.

Let your voice be heard by requesting and mailing in your ballot before the election.

Voting by Mail is Secure

Fill out the attached form completely and accurately

Mail in the completed form after signing and dating at the botton

Wait to receive your official absentee ballot

Dont put your health at risk.

Vote from the comfort and privacy of your own home to fulfill your civic duty and stay safe during the pandemic.

“…Let your voice be heard by requesting and mailing in your ballot before the election…” Before the election. The must really believe their voters are idiots. They may have a point there.

“…Voting by Mail is Secure…” Not according to Donald Trump (r) and his sycophant enablers.

The mailing had two Request for Missouri Absentee Ballot forms printed on it, one partially filled out with the name of a member of our household.

Paid for by Uniting Missouri PAC.

Note the conflation of “absentee ballot” and “Vote By Mail”. That ain’t the proper right wingnut Donald Trump (r) dogma.

Governor Mike Parson (r) [2018 file photo].

Previously:

Gov. Mike Parson (r): safety, meh, voting, meh (May 28, 2020)

“…You know, I hope people feel safe, but, uh, to go out and vote. But, if they don’t, you know, the number one thing is their safety should be number one, so if they don’t, um, then, then, don’t go out and vote. You know, you know, I don’t know that I’ve ever heard myself say that, but, but, you know if you didn’t feel safe than I wouldn’t do that…”

STATEMENT REGARDING GOVERNOR AND FIRST LADY PARSON COVID-19 TEST RESULTS
Press Release
SEPTEMBER 23, 2020
JEFFERSON CITY — Today, Governor Mike Parson and First Lady Teresa Parson tested positive for COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, the First Lady was tested this morning after displaying minor symptoms. The Governor was then tested as well and received a positive result.

All official and campaign events have been canceled until further notice. As a precautionary measure, the Governor’s staff has been tested and is awaiting results. At this time, the Governor feels healthy and is displaying no symptoms, and the First Lady has mild symptoms. Proper safety protocols have been implemented at the direction of Dr. Randall Williams, Director of the Department of Health and Senior Services.

During this time, Governor Parson continues to conduct and fulfill all roles of businesses of the state of Missouri from the Governor’s Mansion without interruption.

Math and science. This was so predictable.

Missouri Gov. Parson explains choice not to wear mask in public
By: Tod Palmer Posted at 5:45 PM, Jul 14, 2020 and last updated 5:51 PM, Jul 14, 2020

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For months now, Missouri Gov. Mike Parson has preached personal responsibility when it comes to stopping the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

He cited personal responsibility in reopening the state May 4 around the same time hospitalizations in Missouri spiked in early May, again in lifting all statewide restrictions effective June 15, again last month in deciding not to issue a statewide mask mandate amid a renewed surge in new COVID-19 cases and at virtually every press briefing he’s given during the last four months from Jefferson City.

Yet, when Parson has been out and about in the state, he’s seldom spotted wearing a mask himself….

Personal responsibility or statewide order? Parson, Galloway disagree on mask wearing
by Mark SlavitWednesday, August 26th 2020

COLUMBIA — Republican Governor Mike Parson and his Democrat political opponent State Auditor Nicole Galloway made separate stops in Columbia Wednesday. Galloway is trying to unseat Parson on the November ballot. Parson and Galloway have different opinions on a statewide mask mandate.

Galloway said she would require face masks statewide if elected Governor. Parson said a statewide mask mandate was not necessary because many rural counties had few positive cases of the coronavirus.

Parson met with health care providers and state leaders and defended his position on not supporting a statewide mask policy.

The Republican Governor accused Galloway of using masks as a political issue….

Maybe it’s a public health issue?

“…During this time, Governor Parson continues to conduct and fulfill all roles of businesses of the state of Missouri from the Governor’s Mansion without interruption…” How is the Governor’s support staff going to proceed?

Wear a damn mask. And while you’re at it, wear some damn gloves.
