Today:

Alford Urges ICE to Consider Cass County Sites for Proposed Detention and Processing Facility
Washington, January 16, 2026

Today, Congressman Mark Alford (MO-04) sent a letter to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Acting Director Todd Lyons. Congressman Alford is urging ICE to consider sites in Cass County for the proposed Kansas City-area detention and processing facility.

Following Kansas City’s misguided moratorium on non-municipal detention facilities, Alford cites Cass County’s proximity major transportation corridors, available industrial and commercial sites, and cooperation with federal law enforcement as reasons for its consideration.

[….]

“Dear Acting Director Lyons,

“Thank you for your leadership in enforcing federal immigration law and restoring order and integrity to our nation’s immigration system. I stand with Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) efforts to ensure that immigration enforcement operations are conducted efficiently, lawfully, and in a manner consistent with federal priorities.

“I am writing regarding recent reports that ICE and DHS have toured potential sites in Kansas City, Missouri, for a large-scale immigration detention and processing facility. As you are aware, Kansas City officials have responded by imposing a sweeping moratorium on approvals for non-municipal detention facilities, explicitly aimed at preventing the establishment of an ICE facility within the city. This action reflects a broader pattern of local resistance to lawful federal enforcement activities and creates unnecessary legal, logistical, and political obstacles to the execution of ICE’s mission.

“If Kansas City doesn’t want an ICE facility, Cass County has several site options near I-49 which would be ideal fits for ICE’s needs. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, we look forward to helping make this happen in the 4th Congressional District.

“Cass County offers several clear advantages. Local leadership and residents have demonstrated a willingness to work constructively with federal partners, respect the rule of law, and support public safety missions. The county provides access to major transportation corridors, available industrial and commercial sites, and the infrastructure necessary to support a secure and efficient federal facility, without the regulatory uncertainty or political obstruction currently present in Kansas City.

“Additionally, placing a facility in Cass County would reduce conflict with municipal governments while ensuring ICE can operate effectively in the region. A cooperative jurisdiction would allow federal officials to focus on enforcement operations rather than litigation, permitting disputes, or public opposition campaigns designed to undermine federal authority.

“The federal government should not be forced to negotiate with jurisdictions that openly seek to block or delay the execution of federal law. Cass County presents an opportunity to partner with a community that understands the importance of border security, public safety, and respect for federal responsibilities.

“Thank you for your consideration of this request. I stand ready to assist your agencies in coordinating with local officials in Cass County and ensuring that any future facility is located in a jurisdiction committed to cooperation rather than obstruction.”

“…Thank you for your leadership in enforcing federal immigration law and restoring order and integrity to our nation’s immigration system…”

What color is the sky in Mark Alford’s world?

“…Cass County has several site options near I-49 which would be ideal fits for ICE’s needs…”

And eighty years from now, the site of memorials.

“…placing a facility in Cass County would reduce conflict with municipal governments while ensuring ICE can operate effectively in the region…”

Belton, eh?

As usual.

Yesterday:

Congressman Mark Alford
[December 15, 2023]
Earlier this week, President Zelenskyy was in Washington asking for more money.
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again — we cannot allocate any more money until two things happen.
1. We need strategic clarity. What does victory look like?
2. More funding for our own border.
[….]

Some of the responses:

Your “questions” are stupid and have been answered multiple times. Border funding is a DOMESTIC issue – I guess if you’re GQP, your own “clean bill” BS doesn’t apply to YOU. Tearing down is easy – any fool can do it. Putin has your number.

Mark’s probably getting campaign cash through the RNC from Putin.

“Make America Great Again” – in Russian.

Mark Alford pushing has to make a stand and it’s either with Ukraine or Putin
He knows who he’s helping by acting like this and that may be the point

that’s the Neville Chamberlain head in the sand stand down plan to appease a dictator
Didn’t work out well historically

Why you support Putin and insult our Military?

When will the House GOP investigate Congressman Comer’s million dollar shell company that he forgot to report on? That violates House rules.

Maga mark is a joke

The ex fox tv morning show host laying down his expertise and judgement. Now that he has opened his mouth, he has to prove it. When he can’t, he should be removed immediately. Alford also likes to place people is historical record books. I would say it is safe to say, Alford has made himself the most embarrassing thing to ever come out of area 4 in Missouri. A complete do nothing, finger pointing, pandering, hide in small coffee shop, literally do a TV style show called “Mark Alford’s America (not Missouri, not ours, but Mark Alford’s), and spend the rest of his time on social media, Fox, Newsmax, and what ever else would let him read from a teleprompter. He uses little woke slogans, bullies CBP agents, mocks the military, and wants to form everything around HIS specific religious believes, which he pushes down everyone’s throat. I understand the “party people” that can’t think on their own, or who have to have someone else to blame will say Alford is doing great. They have to. But when they go to bed at night, or slip up and think on their own about what Alford has and has not done, they are going to be embarrassed, just like so many other Missourians.

And I thought Vicky was bad [….]

Dear Santa, Please bring us a Representative who is smart enough to spell words as simple as “yea” and “Reagan”.

please explain how and why YOU are against working on the current Budget, funding for Ukraine? What legitimate and solid ideas do YOU have, and proposed for INCREASED border security? Just holding out for more funds and whatever else you seek that’s not border security related.
If YOU are NOT part of the solution,
then YOU are the PROBLEM.

where’s that missing file Marky? [….]

The mystery of the missing binder: How a collection of raw Russian intelligence disappeared under Trump [December 15, 2023]

Maybe investigate that?

With your destructive ultra right/ Trump views, there is no way I will vote for you. I love my country too much.

We can allocate money to Ukraine and should, as soon as possible.

I received a mailer from you last week saying how Biden was failing our allies. You have also repeatedly stated that there should only be single topic bills yet you explicitly link non-related items by demanding the border security issues be dealt with before supporting an allied nation fighting for its very existence. I never thought I would see the day where the Republican Party openly supported actions enabling Russian aggression. Your positions directly threaten the western alliances that we have painstakingly built since WWII and paid for with the lives of thousands of Americans.

our taxes paid for him to send that crap out too.

Why isn’t your name on this list of representatives who voted against warrantless surveillance of American citizens this morning?

Mark, I have a suggestion for you. Apply the strategic clarity concept to the border. After doing that, does Ukraine have anything to do with the US border? I thought so.

Mark (and others) have bought into “…the big, beautiful plans and programs…” Trump has. They have drank so much of the Kool-Aid they are his Trolls.

So you are attaching border funding to Ukraine funding? Weren’t you just complaining about that a couple of weeks ago? I guess it doesn’t count when it’s you and not a Democrat. Hypocrite.

another putz comment from the Trump Putin lover! You’re a disgrace to the US Congress!

“Россия” (Russia) – a variant of the Russian presidential flag.

Mr. Alford – Do you understand that by his own choice, Putin is an enemy of the US and is waging an asymmetrical war against us, and that the war in Ukraine is just a part of his strategy?
If you abandon an ally now, you position the US as an unreliable partner when it comes time to help Guyana, Taiwan, Western Europe, or any other target of aggression. That gives Putin and Xi more influence, not less.
So perhaps you’d like to tell us what YOUR strategic objective is as it relates to Ukraine? And Russia. And China.
Because for all the posturing and puffing, as it relates to Putin and Xi you appear either a strutting peacock, a pandering fool, or a complicit cooperator. Which is it?

Al the above!
Alford like most other Republicans, especially Trump are ignorant and don’t care. They don’t see, let alone understand the big picture, world politics nor the global economy.

Say hello to Cleta Mitchell and Leonard Leo next time you collect for your participation in this b.s.

They’re not impressed. At all.
