“…There were definitely a lot of really terrible bills [in Jefferson City] that were pushed this year by the Republicans. But I will say that although they tried to go after the petition initiative process, they had these horrible attacks on trans children [….] The list could go on and on and on…”

…I’m really optimistic that its [Medicaid expansion lawsuit] gonna go in our favor and that the courts are gonna tell Republicans that we have to follow the Constitution that voters put in for Medicaid expansion last August. Because we know that that is a win for every community in our state. So that people have access to preventative health cares, so that we have healthy communities, healthy parents, and it’s a job creator…

…We saw the shock of George Floyd being murdered right before our eyes, handcuffed, begging for mercy, as the police officer put his hand in his pocket. We also experienced depression through the pandemic as we were isolated […] And then January sixth happened, and the anger of seeing our Capitol attacked. As a veteran I can tell you I hadn’t been so angry since September the eleventh. But just like then we realize nothing is going to change unless we change…

…I know we all feel the impact of this epoch shift that we are headed in to in history right now. And that we feel that we are going to be left behind by the transformative forces of climate change, by new economic global competition a rising and ascendant China, and right here in these United States, we all feel the dire impact of a consolidation of power amongst fewer and fewer people’s hands into the top tenth of the top one percent…

…Because when I talk to them we don’t talk about things in polarized language. We talk about what it means to be an American and what it means to have American values and what Democracy means. And they all believe that we should have a right to vote. They believe that we all deserve access to heath care and good quality education. And they want a fifteen dollar minimum wage….

…We need people that we can believe in that inspire us and we need people who are one of us, who know our own struggles. I came from a decent, good family. But we struggled my whole life, like nearly everyone does. It’s a common struggle and that need to change. It should not be a struggle just to get to the age of twenty, to get to the age of forty, to get to retirement. It shouldn’t be a struggle. We’re all struggling [….] It’s not pull yourself, it’s pull up all of us. We’re a community, we’re a village, we’re a family…
