4th Congressional District, ad, Americans United for Change, Hypocrisy, missouri, Vicky Hartzler

Representative Vicky Hartzler (r), eleven days ago, via Twitter:

@RepHartzler Rep. Vicky Hartzler

Just voted for the much needed, bold, smart Ryan budget which reins in govn. spending & gets our country back on the right track! 15 Apr

What an ad from Americans United for Change (AUFC) points about about the “much needed, bold, smart Ryan budget”:

Announcer: Paul Ryan looks like a nice young man, but on April 15th he voted to end Medicare and its guaranteed health benefits. Instead, he wants seniors to get coverage from private insurance companies. Under Ryan’s plan seniors’ costs will go up over six thousand dollars. Ryan wants to use that money to give millionaires a two hundred thousand dollar tax break. Ending Medicare so millionaires can get another tax break? Really? Call Congressman Ryan and ask, what were you thinking?

Representative Hartzler voted for the same thing on April 15th.

“…ask, what were you thinking?”

Uh, maybe, at least agriculture subsidies will be okay? That must qualify as getting “our country back on the right track!”

The republicans want to get rid of Medicare? They're gonna wear it.

And wear it not so well.

[Seniors will have to find

$12,500 for health care…]

You missed a spot.

[Because Republicans voted to End Medicare.]

Did someone call the fire department? Because it’s about to get hot in here.

State Auditor Susan Montee (D): There’s no Democratic or Republican way to do an audit. Politicians from both parties waste our tax dollars. Waste is waste.

Announcer: Susan Montee, conducting a record number of audits, auditing leaders in both parties, exposing the legislature’s one billion dollar budgeting mistake. All with less staff and a lower budget. Susan Montee for State Auditor.

Susan Montee (D): I know auditing because I’m a CPA. And I’ll put saving you money ahead of politics every time.

Now, that’s a real rock star, as opposed to a fake one.

DNC Ad: calling out the republican shills at the Chamber of Commerce

Via No More Mister Nice Blog:

Karl Rove. Ed Gillespie. They’re Bush cronies. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, they’re shills for big business. And they’re stealing our democracy, spending millions from secret donors to elect Republicans to do their bidding in Congress. It appears they even taken secret foreign money to influence our elections. It’s incredible, Republicans benefiting from secret foreign money. Tell the Bush crowd and the Chamber of Commerce, stop stealing our democracy.

The Democratic National Committee is responsible for the content of this advertising.

Cue republican cries of victimhood in three, two, one…

“Have these people no shame?” Rove said of the attacks leveled at him and the Chamber. “Does the president of the United States have such little regard for the office he holds that he goes out there and makes these kind of baseless charges against his political enemies? This is just beyond the pale. How dare the president do this?”

“This is a desperate and I think disturbing trend by the president of the United States to tar his political adversaries with some kind of enemies list, with being unrestrained by any facts or evidence whatsoever.”

Fascist putz – the lady doth protest too much, methinks.

Tommy Sowers (D) in the 8th Congressional District: ad – Jo Ann Emerson’s horse manure

8th Congressional District, ad, horse manure, Jo Ann Emerson, missouri, Tommy Sowers

Tommy Sowers: I’m Tommy Sowers. This is my truck. And this is a ton of horse manure that’s been dumped on me by Jo Ann Emerson.

Emerson took money from special interests to make up lies about me because she doesn’t want to talk about bad trade deals that sent our jobs over to Mexico and China. She doesn’t want to talk about that she’s an insurance lobbyist that voted for the big bank bailouts. Jo Ann Emerson has been in Washington too long. She’s part of the problem.

I’m Tommy Sowers and I approved this message.

The Sowers campaign sent out the following release:

Tommy Sowers releases “Horse Manure” ad

“She can dump all the horse manure she wants.

The voters aren’t buying it.”

[….]

….Campaign Manager Jonathan Feifs issued the following statement:

“The ads that Congresswoman Emerson has been running are horse manure. Instead of making up lies to scare voters, Emerson should answer for her ties to lobbyists, her vote for the Wall Street bailout, and her continual support of foreign trade deals that have devastated the economy of Southeast Missouri.”

Tommy Sowers commented:

“Congresswoman Emerson has been in Washington too long. She’s part of the problem, not the solution. She can dump all the horse manure she wants. The voters aren’t buying it. They know it’s time for new blood and they’re ready to retire Congresswoman Emerson this November.”

###

And there may be some movement in the polling, to boot:

…But those numbers aren’t quite as good as an April poll by the same firm that showed Emerson leading 71 percent to 18 percent, suggesting Sowers has made inroads…

NRCC Ad Attacking Ike Skelton (D): apparently Vicky Hartzler is running against Obama and Pelosi

2010, 4th Congressional District, ad, Ike Skelton, missouri, NRCC, Vicky Hartzler

Heh. You get to turn left at the Missouri sign.

Announcer: After thirty-three years in Washington Ike Skelton’s gotten lost. Instead of voting for Missouri, Skelton’s voting Pelosi’s party line, for Obama’s failed stimulus, for Nancy Pelosi’s irresponsible budget, for the death tax, even for a new job killing energy tax that could devastate Missouri’s farmers and cost over twenty thousand jobs. Ike Skelton, voting with Washington, costing Missouri. The National Republican Congressional Committee is responsible for the content of this advertising.

Well, apparently Vicky Hartzler (r) is running against Nancy Pelosi twice.

A question for the NRCC, is Roy Blunt (r-lobbyists) a Washington insider? Just asking.

“Aww, somebody call the waahmbulance!”

https://secure.robincarnahan.com/page/-/video/jwplayer/player.swf

Mindy Mazur: Hi, I’m Mindy Mazur, I’m Robin Carnahan’s campaign manager. It’s a little after ten o’clock on Thursday night, but I wanted to record a, a short message for you and give you an update on what’s going on in the Missouri Senate race.

As you may have heard late last night Fox News and Chris Wallace sued our campaign over our most recent TV ad. The ad in question is one where Chris Wallace questions Congressman Blunt about his slipping a secret provision in for Phillip Morris into a Homeland Security bill and his relationship with convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff. It’s just a short clip, it’s completely in context, and it’s the truth.

And we at the Robin Carnahan campaign believe the truth matters in this race. And that’s why, despite this lawsuit, we’re keeping this ad on the air. We’re gonna fight the lawsuit to keep it on the air and to make sure Missouri voters know truth.

You and I know that Robin’s a fighter and she fights on principle. And this is a fight worth having. Please join us, go to Robin Carnahan dot com. Thanks for your help.

In the business of politics Faux News and his whineyness Chris Wallace handed Robin Carnahan and her campaign what is called “earned media”. There isn’t enough money on the planet to pay to get the coverage Roy’ Blunt’s (r-lobbyist) Washington insider pedigree is getting with this story.

Previously:

You make the ad, we sue you to protect our candidate

Faux sues, We deride: The ripple effect

Update: The Carnahan campaign has put the ad back up on the web.

Roy Blunt (r-lobbyists) takes a hit in the latest DSCC ad:

[Here in Missouri]

Roy Blunt’s been gone some time now. Probably doesn’t know how tough folks here in Missouri have it.

[Back in Washington]

Roy is the life of the party in D.C. His wife? Great! A Powerful tobacco lobbyist.

[Here in Missouri]

Jobs sent overseas. Schools heading down hill.

[Back in Washington]

Roy’s building a new million dollar home in D.C.’s best neighborhood.

[Here in Missouri]

My nephew lost his house.

[Back in Washington]

That’s how you know he’s made it here.

[Here in Missouri]

Roy Blunt’s just forgotten Missouri.

Announcer: The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is responsible for the content of this advertising.

Nothing says down home like a million dollar house and the inside the beltway party scene.

Another campaign ad smackdown of Roy Blunt (r-lobbyists) from Robin Carnahan‘s (D) campaign:

Robin Carnahan: I’m Robin Carnahan and I approved this message.

Announcer: Congressman Roy Blunt, he got caught trying to insert a secret deal for tobacco giant Philip Morris into a bill just days after company executives gave him over thirty thousand dollars.

[“Big Tobacco’s Sweetheart.” St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Editorial, 6/13/03]

[FEC.gov]

He voted to weaken the rules on lobbyist gifts.

[Washington Post, 1/8/03, HRS 5, Vote #4, 1/7/03]

Rode corporate jets provided by a defense contractor convicted of bribery.

[Defense Contractor Sentenced to 12 Years for Bribery, The Washington Post, 2/20/08]

And he’s taken more money from lobbyists than any member of Congress.

[USA Today, 10/4/09]

Roy Blunt, he’s the very worst of Washington.

[Paid for by Robin Carnahan for Senate. Approved by Robin Carnahan.]

Dave Helling at the Kansas City Star remarks on the republican press release in response to the Carnahan campaign ad:

…The release, however, does not say that any of the claims in the Carnahan spot are inaccurate.

Ouch. That had to have hurt.
