Thanks to President Trump’s America First trade policy, our revenues surged to a record $27.2 BILLION in June—producing a budget surplus for the month.

A $27B spike needs context. Without knowing if this includes one-time payments, delayed shipments, or changes in customs policy, it’s misleading. The net gain to the federal budget is only meaningful if it offsets broader economic damage.
No economic expert would use tariffs alone to justify a “budget surplus.” Budget surpluses are based on the entire federal revenue stream and spending, not just customs receipts.

We’ve already seen further increasing prices. This is great until there are no more goods to tariff, which is happening shortly. There’s a reason there’s no ships coming in. Train traffic is currently dropping as well.

Here is a fact that you conveniently ignore. A tariff is paid for by the importer. If an importer brings in coffee from Brazil with a tariff that costs them 40% extra. the American importer pays that 40% tax, not the Brazilian exporter. If you believe that the American importer will not raise the cost to the retailer to pay for the coffee, you are naive. In the end American companies and American consumers are paying for all the tariffs . Those billions of dollars trump has bragged about have come out of the profits of importers and other companies, and the pockets of American consumers.

Eric, I work 2 jobs. Both in sales. One is at Dollar Tree where the prices just jumped from $1.25 to $1.75 on most items. To you, that may not seem like a lot, but for those folks on fixed incomes, or trying to raise a family, and yes we sell food too, this will hurt them. The other job I work is selling plumbing supplies. Water and sewer pipes went up 20 percent. These costs cannot be absorbed by the business owners. The plumbers who buy from us, and their customers will bear the brunt of these outrageous tariffs. I cannot understand why you support this. You are literally sticking it to your own constituents. The worst part is that you don’t care.
