I think Alford is still gunning for an admin position. He’s never going to get one, and everything tariff is so tainted and so bad the Congressional Republicans are beginning to peel away from trump tariffs and are trying to mount a fight against them, LOL. It’s a tad too late to put the genie back in that bottle – they are openly admitting they abdicated their Constitutional powers and handed those powers to trump. That disqualifies them all from holding office.

They want us to believe that the fight is about the right vs the left. The REAL fight is between the powerful wealthy and the rest of us

Mr. Alford, when’s the next Mondays with Mark, where you meet with your real constituents to answer their real questions and get to see their real response to you regurgitating Republican talking points?

I disagree, while there are some trade imbalances that could have been addressed with targeted tariffs, I think the hatchet approach that is being implemented will have a long lasting effect on the economy causing a significant recession probably even a depression. I do not think that you will ever restore manufacturing in the US to the degree it once was because we have most definitely moved passed the manufacturing phase of capitalism and now in the midst of a service economy. to restore manufacturing, you would have to cut wages to a level that is competitive on a world stage. that would be stepping back in time. I think efforts are better spent on quality education and focusing on the service economy in areas of Tech especially where we are definately falling behind as a nation.

You do realize they the U.S. is a “consumer” country and not a large “producer” country.
Also, you do realize that even in the best circumstances, it will take at least 3-5 years to build the required factories.
And in case you missed it, even YOUR GOP Cabinet advisors have said those factories will be full of robots doing the work. SO, What New jobs will be created for humans and NOT robots?
