Organizers and activists in Missouri have been gathering signatures for an initiative to place women’s reproductive rights, women’s health care, and access to abortion on the ballot. Missourians for Constitutional Freedom is the conduit for the petition drive.

Today, at a drive up petition signing event in Raymore, Missouri:

Passing traffic overwhelmingly honked in support.

A passing anti-choice zealot yelled from traffic at the volunteers gathering signatures:

A few hours into the event a pair of anti-choice protesters showed up and faced in the wrong direction, eliminating any persuasive effect:

Sign it.

Yesterday, from Representative Peter Merideth (D):

Peter Merideth
April 25, 2024]
Friendly reminder: Trump and his lawyers openly argue in court that as president he could order the murder of his political rivals and be immune from prosecution. That as president he is entirely above the law.
This is the man that Republican politicians across Missouri continue to swear loyalty to and want to be president again. And that is why when we call them fascists, it is not hyperbole.
[….]

Some of the responses:

What do we need to do to break the fever?

This time, vote like your whole world depended on it. It will.

And our AG thinks he should be immune. [….] he used to be a fucking prosecutor.
Commer doesn’t believe in presidential immunity. He said he was going to send Biden’s investigation as a criminal referral. The right needs to make up their damn minds. Is the border a crisis or not? Do presidents have immunity or not?

Sounds like a Nixon

We noticed that, too.

I mean… “sovereign immunity” is not a power granted to the government…. and it is nowhere in the constitution. Ive been having that argument for as long as I have been a lawyer.

We have been warned (as a country)…our fate is in our own hands…

I realize his argument is a joke, but this court is as well, and I’m just waiting for them to twist the truth so they can rule in his favor. I have a hard time believing they’ll ever rule against him. It’s his court

There are other comments from apparent Trump supporter(s) defending Sauer’s (Trump’s attorney) arguments before the Supreme Court. Some of the responses to those:

Far too much of this discussion seems focused on things that don’t happen. No President has engaged in the behavior of the self-serving Trump and we need to avoid normalizing it.
I have people whom I used to respect that voted for Donald Trump; I even know some who would likely vote for him again and I’m aghast at the thought

I see people here attempting to draw a through line between the things Donald Trump did out of self-preservation, or to harm perceived enemies,or to personally
enrich himself and what other presidents did as part of their jobs I can’t believe what some of you people are saying…

There is not a lot here that is altering my perception of Republicans taking a simple or shat approach to reasoning.
Clear examples of how Donald Trump was elected in the first place…

Also with that 18th Century vestige of slavery, the Electoral College.

Bad combover. Check. Too long red tie. Check. Orange spray tan. Check. Tiny hands. Check. Cluelessness. Check…

“The most dangerous place to stand in Washington D.C. is any place between Senator Josh Hawley and a live microphone” – Charles P. Pierce

On Tuesday:

Hawley Demands Biden Use National Guard to Protect Jewish Students Amid Pro-Hamas Campus Protests
Tuesday, April 23, 2024

U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) sent a letter to President Biden calling on him to mobilize the National Guard to protect Jewish American students in response to anti-Israel, pro-terrorist demonstrations that have broken out on college campuses.

“On college campuses across the United States, Jewish Americans are at risk […] In your statement on Passover, you stated that ‘in recent days, we’ve seen harassment and calls for violence against Jews. This blatant Antisemitism is reprehensible and dangerous – and it has absolutely no place on college campuses, or anywhere in our country.’ Now, you must take action to match those words,” wrote Senator Hawley.

He continued, “You must immediately mobilize the National Guard and any other authorities necessary to ensure the safety of Jewish American students and citizens.”

Last October, the Senate unanimously passed Senator Hawley’s resolution condemning Hamas and the antisemitic rhetoric emanating from campus student groups, which have continued to celebrate the Oct. 7 terrorist attack against Israel. The passage of Senator Hawley’s resolution came after Democrats initially blocked the measure.

[….]

You think he’s rooting for May 4th? Just asking.

Run along, Josh (r), run along.
