The field looks to be getting crowded.

Tony Monetti (r), a 2016 candidate for U.S. Senate who came in (checks Missouri Secretary of State web site)…a distant second – by close to 49 percentage points – in an eleven candidate field, has formed an exploratory committee for running as a republican candidate for Governor in 2020.

At the Missouri Ethics Commission:

C180637: Citizens For Monetti For Governor
Committee Type: Exploratory
Po Box 914
Warrensburg Mo 64093
Established Date: 09/17/2018
[….]

And, on social media:

Tony Monetti
September 18 at 5:30 PM
In the moment where I knew I lost the Primary, what I felt was certainly not defeat.
Around the room patriot after patriot stood as one, disappointed but determined. Down but never out.
The movement we built had raised over $500,000, reached millions online, and united 65,000 conservatives under our mission.
I was the current leader but I could never create something like this, not alone.
We united as Americans and in that unity our victory could not be questioned. An election result could never undo what we built.
I had lost, but we had won.
As long as the mission continues, as long as our ideals persist and we stand together, we cannot be defeated.
United as patriots we will free Missouri from the establishment, we will honor our Constitution, and we will bring this country to target.
We will oust the swamp. We will change Missouri politics. It’s already happening.
I deal in actions, so I will always offer you more than words on paper.
I want your mandate to continue to lead this mission, to create a Pro-Conservative, Pro-America, Pro-gun Missouri.
I am launching an exploratory committee for the Governor’s office, and if it is what the people want, I will run!
However, a patriot does not hesitate to defend their country in the face of danger, and Missouri is under siege.
Regardless of whether or not I make my bid for Governor, together we will improve this state.
If approved by you the people, this will be unlike any other campaign in history. Want to learn more? Do you want to join the mission?

“…the mission continues…” Wait, haven’t we heard that somewhere before?

Senator Feinstein and the Democrats held the letter for months, only to release it with a bang after the hearings were OVER – done very purposefully to Obstruct & Resist & Delay. Let her testify, or not, and TAKE THE VOTE!

In 2016 Merrick Garland’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court languished before the republican controlled U.S. Senate without any hearings and without any votes for 293 days.

Concerned Women for America “Women for Kavanaugh” tour bus outside the Missouri State Fair Governor’s Ham Breakfast – August 2018.

Poll: More Americans oppose Kavanaugh confirmation than support it
Brett Kavanaugh is first Supreme Court nominee below water in the history of the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

…In the poll — which was conducted Sunday (when the accusation from Christine Blasey Ford was first made public) through Wednesday — 38 percent of voters say they oppose Kavanaugh’s nomination to serve on the nation’s highest court, including 27 percent who “strongly” oppose him.

That’s compared with 34 percent who support his nomination, including 25 percent who “strongly” support him. Twenty-eight percent say they don’t enough to have an opinion.

[….]

All other Supreme Court nominees the NBC/WSJ poll has tested have enjoyed positive-negative scores that have been above water…

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
I have no doubt that, if the attack on Dr. Ford was as bad as she says, charges would have been immediately filed with local Law Enforcement Authorities by either her or her loving parents. I ask that she bring those filings forward so that we can learn date, time, and place!

“Perfect.”

Senator Claire McCaskill (D) [2017 file photo].

This evening, from Senator Claire McCaskill (D):

Claire McCaskill @clairecmc
I will vote no on Judge Kavanaugh.

I have been thorough in examining Judge Kavanaugh’s record. And while the recent allegations against him are troubling and deserve a thorough and fair examination by the Senate Judiciary Committee, my decision is not based on those allegations but rather on his positions on several key issues, most importantly the avalanche of dark, anonymous money that is crushing our democracy.

He has revealed his bias against limits on campaign donations which places him completely out of the mainstream of this nation. He wrote, ‘And I have heard very few people say that limits on contributions to candidates are unconstitutional although I for one tend to think those limits have some constitutional problems.

Going even further, Judge Kavanaugh will give free reign to anonymous donors and foreign governments through their citizens to spend money to interfere and influence our elections with so-called ‘issue ads.’ These ‘issue ads’ are now flooding the airways in this nation to directly influence election outcomes, drowning the concept of individuals having the strongest voice in our democracy. Judge Kavanaugh has clearly said that there should be literally no restrictions on these ads. He has called restrictions on these dark money issue ads ‘blatantly unconstitutional.’ And in a court opinion, he went out of his way to say that foreign nationals weren’t restricted from creating or contributing to these ads – even when that wasn’t the issue before the court. A Russian company that has been indicted for election interference is currently using Judge Kavanaugh’s opinion to argue for their innocence.

While I am also uncomfortable about his view on Presidential power as it relates to the rule of law, and his position that corporations are people, it is his allegiance to the position that unlimited donation and dark anonymous money, even from foreign interests, should be allowed to swamp the voices of individuals that has been the determining factor in my decision to vote no on his nomination.

“…And while the recent allegations against him are troubling and deserve a thorough and fair examination by the Senate Judiciary Committee, my decision is not based on those allegations…”

Right. Claire McCaskill (D) was Jackson County Prosecutor from 1993-1998 – and was an assistant prosecutor in the office before that. A prosecutor. Contemplate that for just a moment.

That’s our Claire.

The calls to campaign offices by potential campaign volunteers just spiked.

4th Congressional District, Belton, debate, missouri, Renee Hoagenson, town hall, Vicky Hartzler

Vicky Hartzler (r), August 25, 2010:

…My campaign has set aside Friday afternoons through October 22 and has called on media outlets and civic organizations to schedule forums in which the two candidates could state their views and take questions from citizens…

That was then, this is now.

Apparently Representative Vicky Hartzler (r) now believes that Renee Hoagenson’s (D) campaign is “bullying” her by doing what Vicky Hartzler’s (r) campaign did in 2010. Chutzpah. And Karma. And a belief that no one anywhere has any memory that goes back longer than ten minutes.

Renee Hoagenson (D) and her campaign found a few open dates, booked the venues, and publicized a willingness to engage in debates at those dates, times, and locations in the district. Vicky Hartzler’s campaign expressed their outrage at the impudence.

Yesterday in Belton, at one of the days and venues scheduled by Renee Hoagenson’s (D) campaign, Representative Vicky Hartzler (r) was a no show (Is anyone surprised?) – so Renee Hoagenson held an open public town hall. Over sixty voters showed up, along with media – the local paper and Show Me Progress.

Renee Hoagenson (D) – Belton, Missouri – September 18, 2018

The town hall with Renee Hoagenson (D) (and with Vicky Hartzler’s (r) absence) started at 7:00 p.m. and went past 8:30 p.m. Renee Hoagenson addressed written questions submitted by those in attendance and engaged in give and take with the audience. All of this open discussions included follow-ups.

The voters in attendance asked questions and provided their opinions on education, the budget, the deficit, the economy, access to affordable health care, campaign finance reform, term limits, agriculture (the farm bill), student loans, the military budget, and more.

After the “formal” portion of the town hall Renee Hoagenson (D) remained to greet and speak with any individuals who were so inclined.

What fresh Hell awaits us on this 606th day of Trump?

And then, today, via Jason Rosenbaum:

Jason Rosenbaum @jrosenbaum
Here’s @HawleyMO on Kavanaugh:

Response from Attorney General Josh Hawley:

“I’m concerned that Senator Feinstein and the Democrats waited until the last hour to bring this 30-year old allegation to light.

“The Democrats have played politics with this entire process and were opposed to Brett Kavanaugh before he was even nominated. They don’t care about the truth.

“I believe allegations of sexual misconduct should never be disregarded. That’s why it’s important that both Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh be heard immediately and under oath.”

3:48 PM – 17 Sep 2018

Just perfect.

Oh, by the way, Merrick Garland.
