Rasmussen released a survey of 700 likely voters taken in Missouri on September 11th. The margin of error is 4%.
McCain – 51%
Obama – 46%
Other – 1%
Not sure – 2%
There are other interesting numbers:
1. How do you rate the way that George W. Bush is performing his role as President? Excellent, good, fair, or poor?
Excellent – 14%
Good – 19%
Fair – 17%
Poor – 49%
Not sure – 1%
Think about that for a moment. One third of the people you pass on the street think dubya is doing a good job. That’s a really frightening indictment of the state of critical thinking in our state. The good news is that almost have of the people in Missouri think he sucks. There’s hope.
10….How do you rate the U.S. health care system? Excellent, good, fair, or poor?
Excellent – 7%
Good – 22%
Fair – 35%
Poor – 35%
Not sure – 1%
So, people aren’t too happy with the state of health care in this country, but…
13. If you had a choice between keeping your existing insurance or switching to an insurance program administered by the government, which would you choose?
Keep existing insurance – 61%
Switch to government insurance – 17%
Not sure – 22%
…the anti-government rhetoric of the right has people a might skittish about trying something to make it better.

Rasmussen conducted a poll of 500 “likely voters” in Missouri on August 7th and released it on August 8th. “This survey was conducted in partnership with Fox Television Stations Inc.” The margin of error is 4.5%.
2* If the Presidential Election were held today, would you vote for Republican John McCain or Democrat Barack Obama?
Without Leaners
McCain 48%
Obama 41%
Other 5%
Not sure 7%
With Leaners
McCain 50%
Obama 44%
Other 1%
Not sure 4%
For any of you poll neophytes the race is still effectively tied (sort of) within the margin of error.
This is interesting:
1* How do you rate the way that George W. Bush is performing his role as President? Excellent, good, fair, or poor?
12% Excellent
20% Good
16% Fair
51% Poor
1% Not sure
dubya and his policies need to be the quintessential political albatross for McSame. Practice often, repeat the meme, rinse, repeat: McSame – if you’ve liked the last eight years, you’re gonna love the next 100…
The economy appears to be the primary concern of voters, cited by 43% (more than any other issues). But, there’s this:
13* When covering economic issues, do most reporters and media outlets try to make the economy seem worse than it really is, better than it really is, or do they present an accurate picture of the economy?
47% Worse than it really is
21% Better than it really is
23% They present and accurate picture
8% Not sure
They don’t trust the media or their own lyin’ eyes.
We can’t ask people at the pump, “how’s that $4.00 a gallon workin’ out for you?” anymore since it’s dropped a bit. But then again, if the price has dropped so precipitously, why did it go up so much? And doesn’t that drop in price undercut McSame’s argument for “emergency full speed ahead” drilling off shore? Just asking.

Rasmussen released a 500 sample poll of likely voters in Missouri dated June 3, 2008:
2008 Presidential General Election Match-Ups
McCain 42%
Obama 43%
Other 9%
Not sure 6%
The poll has a margin of error of 4.5%.
There are some other interesting things in those top line numbers:
How do you rate the way that George W. Bush is performing his role as President? Excellent, good, fair, or poor?
9% Excellent
17% Good
17% Fair
56% Poor
1% Not sure
Worst. President. Ever.
The kool-aid drinkers are down to 26%. That’s probably the best we can expect. Just think about it – one in four people you pass on the street thinks dubya is just doin’ peachy.
Even if the next president is a mediocrity that individual will probably be added to the pantheon on Mount Rushmore – he’ll be considered one of the greats in direct comparison to dubya’s disastrous eight years. Unless of course we get a third dubya term with McSame…
