You guessed it.
Josh Hawley (r) introduced a bill, not naming a post office:
S.419 – A bill to require social media platforms to verify that all individuals who create an account on the platform are age 16 or older, and for other purposes.
Sponsor: Sen. Hawley, Josh [R-MO] (Introduced 02/14/2023)
Committees: Senate – Commerce, Science, and Transportation
Latest Action: Senate – 02/14/2023 Read twice and referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.
[….]
Josh Hawley told us all about it on social media:
There is only one true clause to the one true Amendment, everything else is just noise. (February 14, 2023)
There is something very interesting in the bill text:
[….]
(2) AGE VERIFICATION PROCESS REQUIRE10 MENTS.—The requirements specified in this paragraph are, with respect to an age verification process and a social media platform, that the platform require any individual who attempts to create an account on the platform to provide the platform with—
(A) the individual’s full legal name;
(B) the individual’s date of birth; and
(C) a scan, image, or upload of government-issued identification of the individual that verifies the information required under subparagraphs (A) and (B).
[….]
Dude, you can’t constantly whine on social media about social media corporations’ failings and then introduce a bill which would require their users to give those same corporations their legal name, date of birth, and a copy of a government ID.
Josh Hawley (r) is a maroon. And an ignoranimus.
