Interesting.

Kyle Garner (D) at the Missouri State Fair Governor’s Ham Breakfast [2016 file photo]

Kyle Garner (D) is the Democratic Party candidate in the 52nd Legislative District.

Today at the Missouri Ethics Commission for incumbent Nathan Beard’s (r) 2016 campaign in the 52nd Legislative District:

C141066 08/27/2016 BEARD FOR HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES David Humphreys PO Box 4050 Joplin MO 64803 Tanko Building PRoducts Executive 8/27/2016 $25,000.00

[emphasis added]

Tanko!

Why, in this district that’s enough money to make the rubble bounce. Or is it?

Why would a very wealthy republican from Joplin care enough to drop $25,000.00 on the race in a “safe” legislative district in central Missouri. Unless, of course, someone was worried about having enough votes for “right to get paid less” in the future.

That’s how you raise campaign funds when, unlike your opponent, you don’t receive $1,000,000.00 campaign contributions.

Teresa Hensley (D) [2016 file photo].

Teresa Hensley (D) [2016 file photo].

Yesterday at the Missouri Ethics Commission for Teresa Hensley’s (D) 2016 campaign for Attorney General:

C151147 08/26/2016 TERESA HENSLEY FOR MISSOURI Western Missouri and Kansas Laborers District Council PAC 8500 Ward Pkwy Kansas City MO 64114 8/25/2016 $25,000.00

C151147 08/26/2016 TERESA HENSLEY FOR MISSOURI Simmons Hanly Conroy LLC 1 Court St Alton IL 62002 8/26/2016 $20,000.00

[emphasis added]

Working people and people who need to have an Attorney General’s office which actually works. That says a lot.

Republican Eric Greitens fires up fall campaign for Missouri governor
7:37 PM CDT Aug 26, 2016

….Greitens stump speech Friday did not go into specifics. When pressed by reporters later about how he would grow jobs and raise wages, he talked about making Missouri a right-to-work state….

That’s not a particularly effective message for any organized labor outreach.

….Yes, but the eventual republican nominee will have all the money they need….

At the time we wrote that we didn’t say where we thought it would all come from, but we probably could have made a good guess. Something along the lines of “not from Missouri”.

Erics Greitens (r) [2016 file photo].

Erics Greitens (r) [2016 file photo].

Today at the Missouri Ethics Commission for a republican PAC subsidiary intent on weighing in on Missouri’s gubernatorial race:

C161011 08/26/2016 REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS ASSOCIATION – MISSOURI REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS ASSOCIATION 1747 PENNSYLVANIA AVE. NW STE. 250 WASHINGTON DC 20006 8/24/2016 $2,500,000.00

[emphasis added]

That’s not particularly enlightening about the actual source of all that cash. We could guess that it’s not coming from an aggregation of contributions from widows and orphans in Missouri. Wait, we’ve seen that address, with a different “Suite” number, before.

And, sure enough, faster than you can say “that’s not at all grassrootsie” Eric Greitens’ (r) not particularly grassrootsie 2016 gubernatorial campaign gets a really, really, really big non-transparent campaign contribution:

C151053 08/26/2016 GREITENS FOR MISSOURI Republican Governors Association – Missouri 1747 Penn. Ave. NW Suite 250 Washington DC 20006 8/26/2016 $2,500,000.00

[emphasis added]

Well, isn’t that special? It makes you wonder why anyone else would bother making a contribution.

Look, some other people and entities made really small contributions to Eric Greitens’ (r) campaign today:

C151053 08/26/2016 GREITENS FOR MISSOURI Dan Drury 3329 Shenandoah Ridge Cape Girardeau MO 63701 Midamerica Hotels Corp Executive 8/25/2016 $15,000.00

C151053 08/26/2016 GREITENS FOR MISSOURI Mark Gerson 225 W. 86th St. Apt. 1112 New York NY 10024 GLG Chairman 8/25/2016 $5,001.00

C151053 08/26/2016 GREITENS FOR MISSOURI Missouri Chamber PAC 428 East Capitol Ave. Jefferson City MO 65102 8/26/2016 $25,000.00

[emphasis added]

How cute is that?

Update:

C151053 08/26/2016 GREITENS FOR MISSOURI Cameron Dunafon 4906 Fall Brook Dr. Columbia MO 65203 Dunafon Management INC Self 8/26/2016 $10,000.00

It’s their world, the rest of us get to live in it.

Lest we forget, in the Missouri Constitution:

BILL OF RIGHTS
Section 29
Organized labor and collective bargaining.
Section 29. That employees shall have the right to organize and to bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing.

Today at the Missouri Ethics Commission for a family funded PAC:

C151174 08/25/2016 COMMITTEE FOR ACCOUNTABLE GOVERNMENT IN MISSOURI David Humphreys P O Box 4050 Joplin MO 64803 TAMKO Building Products Executive 8/24/2016 $1,000,000.00

[emphasis added]

Before the August primary the very same PAC ran ads against selected candidates (from the PAC’s July 2016 campaign finance report):

MISSOURI ETHICS COMMISSION
DIRECT EXPENDITURE REPORT
COMMITTEE FOR ACCOUNTABLE GOVERNMENT IN MISSOURI [pdf] 7/14/2016

Chris Koster PO Box 1551 Jefferson City MO 65102 Governor [opposed] 4/25/2016 $240,944.00

Kevin Corlew PO Box 28443 Kansas City MO 64188 State Rep – Dist 14 [opposed] 6/14/2016 $12,472.00

Nick King 1937 Current St Liberty MO 64068 State Rep – Dist 17 [opposed] 6/14/2016 $12,472.00

Bill Kidd 1820 N Ashley Drive Independence MO 64058 State Rep – Dist 20 [opposed] 6/14/2016 $9,052.00

Sheila Solon 2402 Stonecreek Ct Blue Springs MO 64015 State Rep – Dist 31 [opposed] 6/14/2016 $9,052.00

Anne Zerr PO Box 1191 St Charles MO 63302 State Rep – Dist 23 [opposed] 6/14/2016 $14,710.00

Crissy Sommer 901 Boone’s Lick Rd St Charles MO 63301 State Rep – Dist 106 [opposed] 6/14/2016 $10,710.00

That’s a lot of advertising. Right to get paid less anyone?

Chris Koster (D) can probably expect a whole lot more.

Gee, someone must have some very wealthy out-of-state friends. Too bad we can’t tell who they are.

Josh Hawley (r) [2016 file photo].

Josh Hawley (r) [2016 file photo].

Today at the Missouri Ethics Commission for the brand new PAC weighing in on behalf of the republican candidate for Attorney General in the November election.

C161307 08/24/2016 MISSOURI FREEDOM PAC Republican Attorneys General Association 1747 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Suite 800 Washington DC 20006 8/23/2016 $975,000.00

That’s added to the $100,000.00 they kicked in for the same PAC reported two days ago. It’s not particularly transparent or grassrootsie.

And, reported at the Missouri Ethics Commission in the same day from the same PAC, apparently passed through for Josh Hawley’s (r) 2016 campaign for Attorney General:

C151132 08/24/2016 HAWLEY FOR MISSOURI Missouri Freedom PAC 1747 Pennsylvania Ave NW Suite 800 Washington DC 20006 8/23/2016 $1,000,000.00

Gee, they have the same address. Do you suppose they think that Missouri voters (and media) are too stupid to notice or are too lazy to care? Don’t answer that.

Staffers quit new Sanders group after campaign head joined
By Mark Hensch

At least five people have left Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) new political group after Sanders brought in his campaign manager to lead it, Politico reported Tuesday.

Weaver, who ran Sanders’s presidential campaign that ended last month, was made president of the group Our Revolution, causing the exodus before the group officially launches…..

Not that we’re surprised.
