Last night there was a candlelight vigil outside the home of Josh Hawley (r) in suburban Virginia:

The fifty minute video documents the protest vigil – watch it from the beginning. It’s so typical of these types of demonstrations.

Meanwhile, in the comments:

Voter suppression?! More like voter multiplication

Get a job.

Shall not be infringed.. remember that.

What on Earth could that mean?

these people are mentally unstable

Imagine being so confident that your candidate won that you go out and attack the families of people investigating the legitimacy of your win.

Attack? A peaceful (albeit loosely organized) candlelight vigil with a dozen people passing around a bullhorn?

Don’t they know Christmas break is over.
Get to bed kids!

Thats it film your signs what a joke!!

Well considering that the senator lied about the interaction, it is probably a good thing they filmed it…

Well, apparently, an independent citizen journalist showed up to film it (watch the video from the beginning). One of the first rules of these types of protests is everybody film everything.

Sure enough:

Josh Hawley @HawleyMO
Tonight while I was in Missouri, Antifa scumbags came to our place in DC and threatened my wife and newborn daughter, who can’t travel. They screamed threats, vandalized, and tried to pound open our door. Let me be clear: My family & I will not be intimidated by leftwing violence

It was in Virginia. There’s substantial video of the vigil. Local police observed the vigil. If these participants are actual Antifa no one has anything to worry about.

Some of the comments on Twitter:

Disgusting these people walk among us. So sorry your wife was terrorized tonight. Stay strong, don’t back down.

He’s lying to you.

It was closer to a candle lit vigil, lol.

And that exchange sums up the entirety of life in America in the 21st Century.

Totally honest Josh Hawley is telling the totally honest truth here I am sure. Fascists never lie.

Turns out he’s lying.

Hey it seems you lied again.

I agree that he exaggerated, but a mass of people coming directly to anyone’s home with their family seems a bit much in any scenario. I imagine if there was a group of people in front of my home with my wife and kids. How isn’t that concerning as a husband and father?

Only if you consider a “mass” of 10 adults with candles frightening, concerning, thuggish or Antifa. I’ve had more people than that in front of my house at Halloween and they were definitely more worrisome.

This is violence??????

To these fascists it is. Peaceful demonstrations scare the shit out of them.

I dunno, Josh. You’re the one trying to overthrow democracy. This looks pretty tame:

Except the protestors filmed the entire thing start to finish. Do you find it at all concerning that Hawley needs to lie this badly? If he’s willing to lie about an event with video evidence, what else has he lied about?

Where is the DOJ, FBI? and the police.
why were they not arrested

Because it was a peaceful protest. Nothing to do with antifa.
If it was as he described they would have been arrested.

There’s video, and you’re wetting your pants over a candlelight vigil. Have some warm milk and pipe down.

has he tried not being a fascist?

in real life it was 9 people holding a candlelight vigil

You were actually in MO? I know you don’t live here. Josh, that was 2 dozen people on a sidewalk with a megaphone.

Liar. The police were there.

You’re doing great damage to our democracy and you know it. Protesting that damage is expected.

Stop being a snowflake and an asshat.

He’s lying. Take a look at the video evidence and decide for yourself.

Ummm…it wasn’t “Antifa” (it’s an idea..not a group)… and…how do I say this…he’s lying. So…there’s that.

No violence. The whole thing was taped

Guess what, you’re shamelessly lying. The entire event was captured on video and none of what you’re saying is true.

Look at the damn video before believing him. It’s a lie

Yeah, we saw the video. Outrageous! They had candles!

Ma’am, please file your report with the police, not Twitter, and provide evidence that these “scumbags” were “Antifa.”

Weird huh? It’s almost as if this story may not be completely true.

Pro tip: don’t lie when there is video evidence that shows you are lying.

The whole thing was recorded bro…they never went beyond the sidewalk. But they did have megaphones…Oh, My…a whole 10 of them. [….]

To be clear, the whole event was videotaped and there was no violence or harm to property. Purely peaceful. Your attack on a fair and free election is likely to drive more protests. That is their right.

And on and on…
