Just think about the television ads in this race for the November general election, no matter who the republican nominee is.

Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder (r): spending $300,000.00 could have made him look like a victim

Given the circumstances that’s not gonna happen. The republican on republican primary pummeling continues. The latest mailing for the republican primary attacking Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder (r) –  from Missourians for Conservative Values PAC:

Uh, actually, it’s the image on the bottom of the left page that really tells you what’s important in Missouri politics.

“So why is Lt. Governor Peter Kinder hanging out in a bar know for it’s ‘Pantless Parties'[?]” Uh, because he can?

Hotel bills, check. Penthouse Pet, check. Still no burning car?

The folks who are paying for this filed an AMENDED 8 Day Before Primary Election report on July 30th with the Missouri Ethics Commission:

REPORT SUMMARY

MISSOURIANS FOR CONSERVATIVE VALUES PAC [pdf] 7/30/2012

1. Total Receipts For This Election Previously Reported $7,879.00

2. All Monetary Contributions Received This Period $300,000.00

10. Expenditures made by cash or check this period $300,115.00

27. Money On Hand at the close of this reporting period $5,025.01

[emphasis added]

Maybe they’ll use the remainder of their cash to hand out wrapped hotel chocolates with Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder’s (r) name on them outside the polls on Tuesday.

It is an awesome thing to behold, attack mail directed by republicans at republicans. This, paid for by Missourians for Conservative Values PAC:

The chocolates are a thoughtful touch.

Hotel bills, check. Penthouse Pet, check. What, no burning car? Yeah, like that would have been too much of a cheap shot.

Slick and big. Pass the popcorn.

Lt. Gov. – republican primary: pass the popcorn

attack ad, Lieutenant Governor, missouri, PAC, Peter Kinder, popcorn, republicans, schadenfreude

So much money, so little time. An attack ad, by a right wingnut PAC, directed at Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder (r):

Narrator: Where’s Peter Kinder been? As Lieutenant Governor, we pay Kinder to break tie votes in the state senate. But Peter Kinder’s never been present for a tie vote. The last time a vote was tied Kinder was spotted at a bar, the Horny Toad Bar at the lake. And Kinder’s aggressive behavior with a stripper forced her to end contact. Skipping work to hang out at the Horny Toad. Questionable behavior. It’s last call for Peter Kinder. Time to cut him off.

[Missourians for Conservative values PAC is responsible for the content of this advertising. paid for by Missourians for Conservative values PAC. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate committee….]

Pass the popcorn.

And we still don’t know exactly who’s paying for this. But it is a lot.

The republican money groundswell to stick it to Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder (r) continues.

Today, at the Missouri Ethics Commission:

Uh, yep, Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder (r) must’ve really upset at least one person.

Ironically (or maybe not), on the same day the United States Supreme Court eliminated [pdf] a hundred year practice of campaign finance restrictions on corporations in Montana.

Justice Stephen Breyer wrote today in his dissent:

….Montana’s experience, like considerable experience elsewhere since the Court’s decision in Citizens United, casts grave doubt on the Court’s supposition that independent expenditures do not corrupt or appear to do so….

It’s not so much about money per se, it’s really about the unlimited amounts. It’s their world, the rest of us only get to live in it.

Who’s next?
