Remember this, from 2022?:
Rick Brattin (r) ran in the primary for the 4th Congressional District.
Some right wingnuts with money really hate Rick Brattin (r) (July 25, 2022)
A Federal PAC, funded by individuals in Clinton, Missouri and other locations spent a chunk of change on mail attacking Rick Brattin (r) and in support of Mark Alford (r) before the 4th Congressional District republican primary.
Late last night:
Statement from Rick Brattin on Election Results
State Senator Rick Brattin has released the following statement regarding today’s election results:
‘I want to thank the people of Missouri for the honor of being the Republican nominee for Congress in the 5th District, and I want to thank President Trump for his endorsement. Unfortunately, the Missouri Supreme Court chose to make an unprecedented decision to benefit Democrats, swapping the congressional map after primary votes had already been certified, disenfranchising 1.2 million Missouri voters in the process and making it nearly impossible for a Republican to win this district. In the future, I hope that the people of Missouri will be served by a Congressional map like the Missouri First map that better represents our state. The 5th District deserves a Congressman who will fight for them.’
Some of the responses:
Cry harder. Cheater.
MAGA tears are delicious! 😋
Cry baby bitch
You could have taken this time to just thank your supports but instead you had to blame the loss on the Missouri Supreme Court, which isn’t some liberal Mecca. Loser behavior. Nobody was disenfranchised you just lost.
Ricky Trump! So glad you lost! Maybe Missouri & USA can straighten itself our without negative tRumpers!!
Two plus million people voted on the propositions and amendments here in Missouri. One the other hand, approximately 70k to 80k voted down the ballot…
Rick, there’s something rather extraordinary about blaming your loss on a congressional map that Missouri’s Republican-controlled legislature drew in 2022.
Republicans managed to win six of Missouri’s eight congressional seats under that map. Apparently, it only became unfair when you couldn’t win under it.
And let’s not overlook what happened yesterday. Missouri voters rejected the replacement map you wanted by approximately 62% to 38%.
The Missouri Supreme Court didn’t invent a new map to help Democrats. It ruled that the Republican legislature’s 2025 replacement never legally took effect because of a valid citizen referendum.
You were running against Emanuel Cleaver in a district that has elected him repeatedly since 2004. The new map would have transformed that heavily Democratic district into one much more favorable to Republicans.
Then Missourians got their say and overwhelmingly rejected that plan.
You call that disenfranchisement. But isn’t the purpose of elections to let voters choose their representatives, rather than letting politicians choose the voters most likely to elect them?
Perhaps instead of blaming the courts for your defeat, you should acknowledge that Missouri voters just rejected the very map you say would have delivered your victory.
It is not unprecedented for the Missouri Supreme Court to follow the law. Following the law does not favor either party. It is unprecedented for the Secretary of State to use a primary map he knew could not be used in the general election. You don’t disenfranchise the general election voters from using a correct map by using an invalid primary map.
The people of Missouri have also spoken to the Supreme Court ruling on the redistricted map (see the results of Proposition A), and they agree with the decision of both the Missouri and the US Supreme Courts. . Just once could you take the loss without complaints and excuses that you were not treated fairly??
nope. This party takes no accountability. They are a cruel, soulless party with no policy that actually benefits Missouri or America. And when they are constantly shown how unpopular this track is, they look for someone to blame. What a joke.
You did this to yourself. Congratulations.
Well when the Supreme Court of Missouri and the United States rejects your map because they say it was unlawful and the State voters voted against you enacting that map in the future in a landslide victory what does that tell you???
Thank your buddy Hoskins.
Since they couldn’t trick it up for me, it was unfair.
Uhhhhh did you see Dist 2?
That’s a lot of words to say “I lost.”
“…I want to thank president trump for his endorsement…” Yeah. That sure helped, didn’t it…
Missourians overwhelmingly rejected that map tonight
It’s awfully illuminating that despite the People of Missouri—the people you were running to represent—defeating that map by a long shot, you still fall in line with MAGA republicans and blame anything and everything for your embarrasing, wide spread losses across the Nation except for your own actions
The level of willful ignorance, arrogance, and selfishness is exactly why people abandoned you and other MAGA Republicans.
If you’re half the man you think you are, its time for a little self reflection. Maybe have a spine and stand for something instead of being a MAGA puppet, and while youre at it, learn some humility and how to lose gracefully.
He said I lost because the supreme court wouldn’t let me cheat. Good riddance.
Your plan bacvkfired. Instead of earning the spot on your credentials, you wanted it handed to you on a silver platter. The voters didn’t think you would make a good representative for them. Plain and simple.
Sour grapes from loon who shouldn’t be anywhere near office.
They got a congressman who will fight for them. That’s why you lost and so did your gerrymandered map.
It’s always someone else’s fault, isn’t it? Maybe, just maybe, Missouri decided that they were done with you. Go away.
Ok.. First off we just put Prop A to bed( no redistrict for you.) And we changed it to a 5-3… Keep crying though
The 5th District has a Congressman who fights for us and represents us without hateful rhetoric and kissing Trump’s rear. If Hoskins had done his job, we would still have ended up here.
Rick, stop trying to undermine the will of the people of Missouri. This wasn’t about a map. This was about what YOU represent.
You tried to steal our votes and lost
Wow sounds like a sore loser
SCOMO, SCOTUS, and the overwhelming majority of people rejected your dumb map. You’re going to put this out on the night that Missouri voters overwhelmingly voted against HB-1? Clown. No wonder you lost.
The map we voted down 62-38 better represents our state? Good thing he didn’t win, clearly the will of his constituents don’t matter to him at all.
General Assembly should have never tried to stack the deck and redistrict in midstream against the missouri constitution.
Voters weren’t disenfranchised just because the map didn’t go your way. Republicans tried to redraw the map to give themselves a political advantage, and now you’re upset that the courts and voters had something to say about it.
Democracy doesn’t mean you get to pick your voters.
Sorry bud, that’s not how it works.
How do those sour grapes taste? Loser.
Another post and ghost statement made by a trophy child. You got beat by trying to cheat your way in. Maybe spend the day reflecting on the real issue at hand and stop blaming the Supreme Court. The constitution is there to protect us from people like you. Now get out and pick up your signs.
“Disenfranchising”… you mean putting it back the way it was because you all violated the state’s constitution by changing it? K.
The voters rejected your gerrymandered map.
Cry me a river.
The voters have spoken on that map. If you can’t represent the will of the people, public office is not for you.
TL,DR: “I didn’t have a shot at this seat without illegal gerrymandering and I’m going to cry about it.”
This may be one of the funniest things you’ll read today!
If this guy genuinely means what he wrote here, he is entirely unfit to serve at pretty much any level. He clearly doesn’t understand what his own party was trying to do!
Stop whining. The voters rejected YOU. You don’t get to pick your voters.
Read the room Rick, engage that brain housing group. Missourians voted to keep the 2022 map that you lost against. The MO Supreme Court had to make an “unprecedented decision” because the Governor and the Legislature decide to make an unprecedented early map change. Cause and Effect my guy. And the GOP still lost an additional seat.
Imagine crying about how cheating didn’t work. Insane.
“we tried to cheat and they wouldn’t let us and I lost cause the big mean democrats followed the rules”
It is the poor carpenter who blames his shoddy tools
It is the poor politician that blames his shoddy maps
You can’t even lose with dignity.
Thank you for losing like a child.
Thank you for showing what the Republican Party is.
We showed you last night how deep our disgust runs for you and your kind.
Accept it or don’t.
I don’t really care about you anymore.
Don’t blame the map when the people choose the map. If you really wanted to win you would have campaigned for the role. I didn’t see any advertisement for your campaign after the map changed. I live in the district.
What an ungraciously terrible concession. Instead of it being the will of the voters, you throw blame and have the attitude of a toddler. Thank goodness you lost. It’s obvious you lack the qualities of a good leader.
The MO Supreme Court did what they were obligated to do, not what tRump wanted them to do, not what Kehoe wanted them to do, not what YOU wanted them to do.
No, they made the “unprecedented” decision to follow the constitution, were backed by the US Supreme Court, and then the voters of Missouri overwhelmingly sealed the deal. What you and fellow lawmakers did was highly unpopular and probably one of the biggest reasons you lost. Not the map itself, but the making of the map/attempted gerrymandering. It’s on your party, this loss. I mean, the results of Prop A and Amendment 6 should help you understand this, right?
So what I am hearing from your statement is you are blaming your loss on the Missouri Supreme Court, that followed the law, upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court, then reaffirmed by the voters regarding the amendment that would have allowed the redrawn the congressional map. I would argue that your refusal to listen to the voters is the reason you were defeated. It had nothing to do with a map.
Translation: I couldn’t win without cheating.
That map is a joke. The KC Metro area has a large population that shouldn’t be split up so that Republicans can gain another seat for the idiot president to continue railroading bad legislation through the house. The supreme Court was right to deny that map. There was no reason for it to have been made in the first place, especially in the middle of the census cycle.
The people of Missouri spoke. The map was denied and so were you. Stop whining.
We rejected the map your party tried to use. You are an idiot and a liar.
Check those Prop A results.
Yes, blame the map that Missourians chose last night (the old one). That’s like getting beat twice.
Take the L like a man.
You sound like such a sore loser.
Could this guy be any more obtuse? Missourians overwhelmingly rejected that nonsense’
Oh, so you’re sad you couldn’t handpick your voters? So sad that cheating can’t hand you a win. Good riddance. The people spoke and they voted against you and they struck down Prop A.
Yes the map made it where you didn’t win. But it also made it where your buddy Mark Alford did. One (or possibly both) of you losing either way.
They might not be buddies.
We want someone who fights for the people, not who fights for trump. Nice try though.
Stop crying about the problem that you and Hoskins created. Hopefully you finish your term and go away.
Dude, 63% of voters rejected that map. Obviously you’re the problem 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Read the room, Rick. Instead, you are talking over it.
Did you notice we the people rejected the map your political allies drew hoping to be able to select your constituents for you? Of course you did. That’s not how it works. We select you guys… not the other way around.
What a self-serving tool. Democracy has spoken. Display a little class. Of course, if you feel honored to have the most corrupt, immoral man in the history of the presidency endorse you, you’ve spoken volumes.
Same lack of self awareness got you here. Missourians are tired of leaders who think all they need is an R next to their name to get our vote.
Come on, Rick. You know better. By “unprecedented”, you mean the Missouri Supreme Court chose to follow Missouri law which you and Hoskins attempted to circumvent. Also, look at the ballot measures. Clearly, you were not representing the people of Missouri. You were representing yourself. You have become the career politician that you’ve complained about.
It’s crazy that you wrote all this and still didn’t take accountability for the mess you and the rest of your ilk caused. This is entirely your fault and you can’t even own it. What a sore loser and it’s embarrassing you’re raising your kids to see this. The fact you were counting on a gerrymandered map to hand you a win vs actually winning on merit and policy is exactly why you were unfit for the job.
Personally I’m really looking forward to have you off the Edu Committee – maybe we’ll get someone who actually calls constituents back or advocates for all students instead of ridiculous culture wars.
What a nice way to concede a race where obviously the people of the district chose someone they felt would better represent them. Stop making excuses for the real reason you lost – you follow Trump whom most decent citizens are tired of the tirades, the nasty rhetoric and the lack of class and integrity. Wise up- our nation was built on fundamental morals which the basis is “Love thy Neighbor”. Words matter, associations matter, and decent treatment of humans matter. That is why you lost- not because of a map.
We didn’t want you or the map. FAFO
Better represents the state? Are you that stupid or just that dishonest? Based on voting numbers, Missouri us 60/40. 7-1 doesn’t sound like a fair representation. Missouri voters just handed you a closer representation, Karen.
Republicans drew the current map, picked the judges you’re mad at, and you would have lost in any map. Go away now.
Learn some grace. The sore loser look is so unbecoming.
Typical maga, cries foul when there was none. Never takes responsibility, always blames others for their loss.
Look at the vote Rick. The people didnt want the map you and Denny Hoskins tried to force on everyone. You missouri republicans need to learn to listen to the people.
