All of the Democrats are reportedly planning on being in attendance. That means Kevin McCarthy (r) needs 218 votes to become the next Speaker. The math does change if anyone votes “present”.

At this point, with less than half the votes cast, 11 republicans have voted for someone other than Kevin McCarthy (r) as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives on the first ballot. Unless those votes are changed, there’s going to be at least another ballot.
