“The most dangerous place to stand in Washington D.C. is any place between Senator Josh Hawley and a live microphone” – Charles P. Pierce

This morning:

Josh Hawley @HawleyMO
From the people who brought us the great sellout to #China and the worst trade deals in American history comes the sequel. Lose your job? Shut up and learn to code. Obama economics, and a reminder of what Joe Biden’s economic program would be

Some of the comments:

Seems you didn’t have a problem when ivanka launched her “find something new” campaign in the spring…

Joshua, setting aside your fear mongering and hyperbole, you misspelled “will be.” I think you’re in DC right now – if I Venmo you $50, could you drop off boxes and packing tape at the White House?

Josh you act like and think an old man. Retail was going away before the pandemic. Your contemporaries don’t shop in malls. Retraining programs would be fabulous. Help people transition to new reality

Nice to see Josh still spends all his time at the whine store instead of offering solutions; not sure how tweeting about China is going to help people who work at JC Penney, but problem-solving has never been our thing

The times are changing whether we like it or not. Democrats are addressing that reality; the GOP is in denial.

Well, it’s better than writing letters to the NBA about what players put on their jerseys.

Ivanka said use the pandemic as a chance to get into something new. Jared says people need to “want it” more. These are your people with abstract advice. Learning code is at least concrete. So bitter already and they haven’t even called the race. Unbecoming, Josh. Do some work.

Interesting how trump’s clothing line and campaign gear is made in China and Biden’s campaign gear is made in the US.

Josh, what do you do for a living??

He *pretends* to understand technology.

Cool. Maybe come to St Louis and tell us your plan?

Heh.

C’mon Josh. That’s a REALLY simplistic take on what was said. Workers need to train for emerging industries not dying ones. Would you encourage your kids to train in typewriter repair?

Right? Thanks for being awesome and passing a COVID relief bill for your constituents before going on recess again.

Why is it controversial for someone in retail, especially the young, to continue their education and training? Why are Republicans against education and the American dream of working for a better life? Isn’t that the Republican bootstrap theory?

Wasn’t this Ivanka’s strategy too? So which one is CURRENTLY a part of the administration? Ivanka or Rahm?

And on and on.

My favorite response:

Lindsey Simmons @LynzforCongress
Interesting. Missouri Senator opposes helping people out of work find a new career path.

Has Josh created any jobs that weren’t on the Supreme Court?

Heh.

Some responses:

China has nothing to do with the death of retail. Josh is trying out themes for 2024. He will spend the next several years doing this.

Should us mere citizens keep waiting for the trickle down from the elite to happen? Reagan, both bushes and trump used this tired method to help the wealthy. Regular citizens should be happy with a few extra bucks right? #hypocritehawley

There you go.
