Yesterday at the Missouri Ethics Commission for one of the committees opposed to organized labor and promoting “right to get paid less”:

C171080 08/14/2017 Liberty Alliance Associated Builders and Contractors 4035 Denton Road Kansas City MO 64133 8/14/2017 $50,000.00

[emphasis added]

What’d anyone else expect?

Today, via Twitter, from Representative Vicky Hartzler (r):

Rep. Vicky Hartzler‏ @RepHartzler
The Solar Eclipse is just around the corner! Check out #Eclipse2017 events near you: [….]
2:46 PM – 14 Aug 2017

Some of the responses:

In the 4th district what we don’t understand is @RepHartzler’s position on Transgenders in the Military.

So does @RepHartzler support the violent murder of an American by a Nazi? Or does she just not care enough to say anything about it?

You run your mouth on all the things that don’t matter, but you never have anything of substance to say. Either do your job, or quit.

Don’t u have some trans military personnel to harass?

Who wants to travel to Missouri, NACCP travel warning and Representative who refuses to denounce racism, white supremacists and Nazis.

Boy that’s a barn burner of a position. Have anything to say about Nazis or racism? We’re waiting.

You have time to tweet about a solar eclipse but don’t have time to respond to your voters when They contact you. Typical fraud/crook!!!

Still no released statement about the Nazi terrorist attack from this weekend? Will you ever denounce a single white supremacist?

It’s not looking likely. She didn’t even send “thoughts and prayers”

#resist, Charlottesville, Kansas City, missouri, Virginia

For a few hours last night over seventy-five individuals gathered in the park at the corner of 47th and Broadway near the entrance to the Plaza in Kansas City to demonstrate against Nazis and racism and in support of the people of Charlottesville, Virginia.

“Make Racism Afraid Again”

Pro tip: if you’re driving in slow city traffic resist the urge to yell a challenge to a large protestor on the sidewalk carrying a sign at the exact moment the traffic light turns red.

Confrontation.

There were many more supportive passersby:

An expression of support.

After all, this is Kansas City.

“Resist Hate”

Solidarity.

Rep. Vicky Hartzler‏ @RepHartzler
Many #MO4 cities are in the path of #Eclipse2017. What a perfect time to #VisitMO4 and see this historic event!
9:07 AM – 11 Aug 2017

Some of the responses:

You could take you own advice and visit and hold a town hall.[….]

Maybe some transgender people will come a pee in the bathroom of their choice

I am surprised you keep tweeting about this as it was predicted by science methods and tools like used to predict climate change you deny.

Please stop keeping us in the DARK and do in-person town halls. [….]

There’s hope for humanity.

That extra dollar makes sure everyone knows right away.

Yesterday at the Missouri Ethics Commission for the House Republican Campaign Committee (HRCC):

C091068 08/10/2017 HOUSE REPUBLICAN CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE, INC Friends Of Robert Cornejo PO Box 346 St Peters MO 63376 8/8/2017 $5,001.00

[emphasis added]

And, last month:

C091068 07/16/2017 HOUSE REPUBLICAN CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE, INC Friends Of Robert Cornejo PO Box 346 St Peters MO 63376 7/15/2017 $5,001.00

[emphasis added]

Of course, they’ll always have all the money they’ll need.

Today at the Missouri Ethics Commission for one of the committees opposed to organized labor and supporting “right to get paid less”.

C171080 08/09/2017 Liberty Alliance David Humphreys P O Box 4050 Joplin MO 64803 TAMKO Building Products Executive 8/8/2017 $100,000.00

That’s as direct and to the point as it can get. Still, it’s not particularly grassrootsie and does nothing to lower the committee’s average contribution.

The special election to fill a vacancy in the 50th Legislative District was today. The results are in.

Michela Skelton (D) [2017 file photo].

From the Missouri Secretary of State site:

State of Missouri – Special – Legislative District 50 – August 8, 2017
Unofficial Results
as of 8/8/2017 9:25:50 PM
Office/Candidate Name Party Votes % of Votes
State Representative – District 50
27 of 27 Precincts Reported

Sara Walsh Republican 3,737 52.076%

Michela Skelton Democratic 3,439 47.924%

Total Votes:7,176

298 vote margin. That was close.

That’s what an unapologetic Democratic candidate and a disciplined campaign can do in what was considered a “safe” republican district.
