My spouse went out to get the Sunday paper early this morning (the Kansas City Star, nothing useful in it, including the stenographer’s usual mindless bloviations) and matter of factly announced to me, “Somebody stole our Obama yard sign.”
Sure enough, somebody stole all of the Obama yard signs in my neighborhood. That’s a significant number. They left everything else alone.

The scene of the crime…
They’re losing and they know it. Instead of canvassing door to door or working the phones for their candidate(s) of choice during the day, they’re stealing yard signs at night and sleeping in late. You can smell their fear, or their incompetence.
The really funny part? Somewhere in Warrensburg, somebody is sitting on a pile of stolen Obama yard signs, several bearing the legend on the inside in permanent ink: “Stolen from [street address]”. Now it’s just a matter of them making one little misteak…
…have a replacement up.
I decided to go to our local headquarters early this morning and open it up. Sure enough, people have called in to report that their signs were stolen. I told them to call the local police department and report it.
Several people have walked in to get replacements. One individual wrote a substantial check to cover the cost for others who may want to get replacements.
One caller noted that 4 x 8 McCain/Palin signs went up near her neighborhood yesterday and “that there were several more McCain/Palin yard signs” placed in her neighborhood at the same time. Of course, truly patriotic Americans such as those would never trample on the First Amendment and property rights of others, would they? Of course not.

The time it takes to steal them is time NOT spent doing GOTV.
I never thought to put the “stolen” information and my address on the inside. That’s a good idea. They aren’t usually stolen in my neighborhood during the general election, but sometimes during primaries.
