Yeah, I’ve previously written about these peculiar accouterments of a modern American campaign: Signs, signs, everywhere signs

I can’t help it. As one commenter wrote earlier, it’s like junk food for a campaign.

An Obama/Biden 4 x 8 sign at an undisclosed location. Let’s see how long it lasts before the usual vandals do it in.

I was manning the front desk at our local headquarters early this morning when a volunteer from a neighboring county walked up and said, “I’m here to deliver the signs.” Lo and behold, they were Obama/Biden 4 x 8s. We unloaded them in the midst of the gathering of volunteers for the canvassing of 100,000 Missouri doors.

There was some kind of touristy event downtown today. The streets were awash in pedestrians. Our doors were open at Democratic headquarters. People walked in – and they wanted signs, buttons, t-shirts, and hats.

One lady walked in and asked me if she could get an Obama cap. I told her that they were fifteen bucks a piece. She replied, “I didn’t ask you that. Are you saying you think I can’t afford it?” “No ma’am.” She bought the cap.

People walking by saw the 4 x 8 Obama signs stacked inside. Like moths to the flame they were drawn into headquarters. “How much are those big signs?” “Do you have a location for them?”

One older gentleman wanted every Democratic candidate’s sign. He had a rural location. He expressed his disdain for all things republican in strongly articulated earthy language. We ended up putting the first Obama 4 x 8 on his property.

The walk in traffic at headquarters was constant and massive today. “Do you have t-shirts?” “Do you have yard signs?” “Do you have bumper stickers?”

Those 300 Obama/Biden yard signs we got in this past week? They’re all gone.
