The first morning canvass group had already gone out. This was a second larger morning group as they received their instructions and assignments from the local field organizer. Afternoon canvas groups were also scheduled for Warrensburg.
A canvasser related that a child at one door said:
“We’re for Obama. We’re not for McCain. Do you want to know why? He has a friend. A friend named Bush.”
My 9-year-old grandson patiently explained it all to me on Thursday. “All the kids in my school are for Obama. If kids could vote Obama would win for sure. Obama is going to change the world.”
He reports that they talk about it at school–a Catholic grade school so that’s something! I asked what the teacher says and he told me she says “Go Obama!”
Interesting times
I wish I had one to go to.
We meet in a local restaurant to go canvassing. So if too many people show up they don’t have enough materials. And if someone comes a bit late – they are out of luck because everyone is gone. And when new people show up to canvass – they have to walk around the restaurant saying “are you with the Obama campaign?” to total strangers.
I live in a city for god’s sake, why can’t they send canvassers out from one of the myriad actual campaign offices they have in this city?
