Bad combover. Check. Too long red tie. Check. Orange spray tan. Check. Tiny hands. Check. Cluelessness. Check…

From Donald Trump (r) this evening:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
BORING!
8:35 PM – 26 Jun 2019

One of many responses:

Jennifer Hayden @Scout_Finch
A dead father and daughter are “boring.”

Fuck you.
[….]
8:38 PM – 26 Jun 2019

That’s it.

We can remember what they do

A year ago:

I really do care. Do U?

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Late yesterday, via Twitter:

Elie Mystal @ElieNYC
Had a conversation with my mom after she saw @chrislhayes basically pleading with that goddamn Republican to end the suffering of children at the hands of this administration.
People with voice and opportunity are saying the things. These @realDonaldTrump people just don’t care.
10:05 PM – 24 Jun 2019

Elie Mystal @ElieNYC
I don’t think people who aren’t *in it* everyday appreciate just how evil the Republican Party has become under @realDonaldTrump. There’s a stubborn and gleeful aspect to their cruelty now. They’re so far into it, they have to like it now.
10:07 PM – 24 Jun 2019

Elie Mystal @ElieNYC
I have no clue how to stop them. But I know pretending that these people have any shred of decency left is not the way. These people… you just don’t “come back” from terrorizing children. Once you realize you’re the kind of person who can defend that, you are gone.
10:10 PM – 24 Jun 2019

Elie Mystal @ElieNYC
All I can promise is that, when the wheel turns, I won’t forget what they’ve done. Many will. Many will try to go back to “normal” with these people. I will not. Not forgetting, and not letting them forget what they’ve done, will be the very least I can do.
10:12 PM – 24 Jun 2019

We can remember what they do. We should remember what they have done. We should remind them every chance we get until the end of time. And the monuments put in place to extol their great works should include the legend “cruelly supported and enabled separating families seeking asylum and placing their children in cages.”

Oh, and the Emma Lazarus sonnet, The New Colossus, should be permanently erased from the Statue of Liberty.

This is America – 2019

This morning:

MZS @mattzollerseitz
The only silver lining of this concentration camp discussion is that it instantly tells you who the American version of Hitler’s “good Germans” are.
5:39 AM – 19 Jun 2019

If you’ve ever wondered what you would have done in Germany in the 1920s and 1930s you’re doing it now.

At this point even a Truth and Reconciliation Commission can’t save the American experiment

“Not this time” – Trump Muslim ban protest at Kansas City International Airport – January 29, 2017

Do you ever recall reading about a period in history rife with injustice and wondering why people didn’t do anything and what you would do if you were alive during those times?

Well, it’s been that way for a while now. You have been confronted with who and what you are.

Can anyone be confident in the vast well of awareness and empathy on the part of a significant portion of the American populace? Right.

I’m going to try. See you at the polling place…and in the streets.
