Quick, more lightbulbs

Full PPP Poll out tomorrow. (Get marshmellows). The other teasers: Brunner up, Steelman/Akin down, Mitt 3rd in the caucus.

Just wait until the voters hear about Dave Spence’s fraternity leadership. That’ll get Spence ($2.3M on hand/$65K spent) past Randles ($5K on hand/$58K spent) for sure.

That $1,668.54 in small contributions is only there because it’s a statistical impossibility to not get any small contributions in a statewide campaign. Well, mostly an impossibility.

What, no organized labor (working people!)?

That’s all of the itemized individual contributions. It’s easy enough when there aren’t that many contributions, albeit really, really large ones.

It’s just so, so grassrootsie.

2012, Dave Spence, epic fail, governor, home economics, missouri

Previously:

“Gonna need a new bulb, Dave” (January 11, 2012)

“Well, Home Economics is a kind of Economics” (January 10, 2011)

Evidently there’s going to be a lot of material for the Fall 2012 campaign ads. A video compilation of television news stories, via the Missouri Democratic Party:

A Republican candidate for the Missouri Governor’s office is doing some damage control. Now, Dave Spence’s web site states he earned an Economics degree from the University of Missouri when he actually earned a degree in Home Economics. Spence told the St. Louis Dispatch his grades weren’t good enough for business school, so he chose a different major that allowed him to graduate on time. Spence acknowledged his degree description may be misleading….

Missouri gubernatorial candidate Dave Spence touts on his web site that he, quote, earned a degree in Economics from the University of Missouri, Columbia. What the web site does not say is that the degree was in Home Economics. Spence told the St. Louis Post Dispatch that his grades were not good enough for the business school, so he chose a different academic path that allowed him to graduate on time. He acknowledged that the description of the degree on his campaign’s web site might be misleading. Spence is seeking the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic incumbent Jay Nixon in this year’s election. His campaign has emphasized his business expertise at a plastic container company before selling it in twenty-ten and recently stepping aside as its leader….

A University of Missouri degree means a lot to tiger nation, but a candidate for governor might be stretching the truth about his. Dave Spence touts on his web site that he earned an Economics degree from Mizzou, but his degree was actually in Home Economics. In response Spence told the St. Louis Post Dispatch his grades were not good enough for business school so he picked a major that would allow him to graduate on time….

Missouri gubernatorial candidate has some explaining to do. Dave Spence’s web site says he earned a degree in Economics from the University of Missouri, Columbia. What it doesn’t say, though, is that the degree was in Home Economics. Spence is seeking the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic Governor Jay Nixon. Now, he admits the degree description may be, quote, misleading….

2012 elections, Bill Randles, Dave Spence, governor, Jay Nixon

I’m guessing someone was asleep when the balanced budget requirement in the Missouri Constitution was brought up in that economics class. Perhaps Dave was busy any of the first 3 times that a balanced budget was passed under Jay Nixon. But you know, Dave Spence just wants more jobs for Missouri, and if his forthrightness about his educational background is any indication, he’s concealing details about the jobs as well.

Meanwhile in electoral politics, Dave Spence’s primary opponent Bill Randles released his college transcripts. The images are on Flickr, because this isn’t fun enough already. Although it’s a double-edged sword for Randles as it’s another opening for the media to mention that Randles went to Harvard Law with President Obama.

No word on if Randles will release scanned images on Flickr proving his knowledge of Missouri’s Constitution

2012 elections, Dave Spence, governor, Jay Nixon

Source

On his campaign website, Republican Dave Spence, the plastics guru running for governor, says he “earned a degree in Economics” from the University of Missouri.

That may be true – but it is not entirely accurate.

According to the university, Spence’s degree is not in economics. It is in home economics.

Well, if Spence keeps twisting the truth like this, he’ll be cooked.

I think Dave will need a better line to bail out of this than..

“I was not the greatest student in the world,” Spence said. “I’ll make fun of myself: I was a 60-watt bulb in a 100-watt society.”

He may be a 60-watt Dave, but he has a 2 megawatt campaign treasury to modify his bio and make it accurate, right?

Oh. Well, he’ll get around to it. It takes time to make your alpha packaging accurate packaging.
