HRCC, missouri, Missouri Republican Party, Robert Knodell, robocalls

Talk about failing upward. Remember this, one of the ugliest campaign attacks of the 2010 election?:

Female voice: This is an urgent alert for all Christian families. Before you vote you should know that state representative candidate Courtney Cole has taken hundreds in campaign donations from a representative of the hard core pornography industry, including gay pornography. By allowing her Democratic campaign to be funded by those who are involved with and support hard core pornography Courtney Cole clearly does not share our Christian family values. On election day stand up for what’s right and decent by voting no on Courtney Cole. Paid for by House Republican Campaign Committee, Inc.

[emphasis added]

Who was responsible for that?:

HRCC robocall in the 121st Legislative District: desperation and homophobia (October 27, 2010)

….The folks in the HRCC who paid for this robocall were walking with Denny Hoskins (r-noun, verb, CPA) and wearing his campaign t-shirt in last weekend’s homecoming parade in Warrensburg:

Dave Hageman, Missouri Executive Director of Victory Enterprises (left) and

Robert Knodell, Executive Director of the House Republican Campaign Committee (right)

That makes it difficult for Denny Hoskins (r-noun, verb, CPA) to distance himself from the HRCC, don’t you think?….

Robo calls accuse candidate of porn ties

Posted: 10.28.2010 at 11:49 AM Updated: 10.29.2010 at 9:30 AM

….The message says it’s paid for by the House Republican Campaign Committee, Inc. That is not the Missouri Republican Party. I called the campaign committee and left messages, and didn’t hear anything back. KHQA did get a statement from the Missouri Republican Party. It says it did not authorize, approve, or pay for this campaign activity….

[emphasis added]

Ooh. The Missouri republican Party was so upset that they disavowed any knowledge of the robocall. Wink, wink.

Today we find out that maybe the Missouri republican Party does approve (via Randy Turner at The Turner Report) because they gave Robert Knodell a new job:

…Lloyd Smith, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party, announced today that Robert Knodell will join the MOGOP as Political Director. Knodell will be in charge of legislative outreach and grassroots organization throughout the state as we build upon our 2010 victories at the federal, state, and local levels and move forward into the 2012 election cycle.

Knodell, a Poplar Bluff native and graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, has spent the last four years as Executive Director of the House Republican Campaign Committee. During his time at the HRCC, Republicans have made historic gains in the State House. Thanks to strong candidate recruitment and outstanding campaigns, the GOP now holds an unprecedented 106-57 majority in that chamber…

[emphasis added]

They left out the stuff about dog whistle homophobic and “family values” attack robocalls. I wonder why. They said they didn’t approve.

Maybe it was a social promotion.

Today at the Missouri Ethics Commission there was an interesting little tidbit in one of the reports:

Yeah, that $100,000.00 went the other way on the same day. As if they don’t know each other? With that kind of money moving around they all must be good friends, eh?

121st Legislative District, attack mail, Courtney Cole, Denny Hoskins, missouri, Missouri Republican Party

The Missouri republican party continues to prop up Denny Hoskins (r-noun, verb, CPA) with attack mail directed at Courtney Cole (D) in the 121st Legislative District race.

The mail piece disclaimer. Ah, the usual suspects.

The Missouri republican party filed their “8 Day Before General Election” campaign finance report with the Missouri Ethics Commission on October 25th:

Detailed Summary of Expenditures And Contributions Made

Committe: MO REPUBLICAN PARTY

ReportDate: 10/25/2010

Majority Strategies Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 10/11/2010 IE direct expenditure Hos $6,970.74

Majority Strategies Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 10/21/2010 IE direct expenditure Hos $3,074.27

Majority Strategies Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 10/06/2010 IE direct expenditure Hos $6,151.58

[emphasis added]

No wonder Denny Hoskins’ (r) campaign hasn’t spent much on mail. Everyone else is doing it for him.

Let’s see. They continue to recycle this stuff from their previous attack mail:

“…Cole is a card-carrying member of a liberal special interest group…”

Uh, Courtney Cole (D) is a high school teacher. The footnote refers to the Missouri National Education Association (MNEA), a group which advocates for our children and our public schools.

Uh, didn’t that “card carrying” bullshit go out with the anti-fluoridation whack jobs from the fifties? Apparently not. Same type of right wing extremists, different wedge issues….

“…is funded and backed by radical politicians and interest groups…”

The republican leadership in the Missouri General Assembly? Really? Oh, wait…

How Nixonian (Richard) – you know, he was found to have voted with Vito Marcantonio.

Here’s they stoopid and lazy:

No specifics, just guilt by innuendo. Maybe no one will bother to look anything up, eh?

Nothing about paying taxes on time, either. Interesting.

The Missouri republican party thinks we’re all stoopid – Chutzpah edition

17th Legislative District, attack mail, missouri, Missouri Republican Party

Kenny Biermann (D) is being challenged by Vicki Schneider (r) in the 17th Legislative District race in a rematch of 2008:

on Tuesday, December 02, 2008

State of Missouri General Election

Tuesday, November 02, 2010

State Representative – District 17

Biermann, Kenny DEM   St. Charles, MO

Schneider, Vicki REP   OFallon, MO

The Missouri republican party sent mail out in support of Vicki Schneider’s (r) attempt at regaining the seat – attacking Kenny Biermann (D):

Ah, the usual suspects.

Chutzpah – murdering your parents and then asking for leniency from the court because you’re an orphan.

Uh, Vicki Schneider (r), was the benificiary of largesse from lobbyists when she was in the Missouri House of Representatives – $1,248.99 in 2004, $1,013.67 in 2005, $1,590.86 in 2006, $2,910.70 in in 2007, $992.92 in 2008.

There’s a drop off there at the end. What happened in 2008? Vicki Schneider (r) lost her reelection bid to Kenny Biermann (D).

The Missouri republican party continues to prop up Denny Hoskins (r-noun, verb, CPA) with attack mail directed at Courtney Cole (D) in the 121st Legislative District race.

The Missouri republican party continues to prop up Denny Hoskins (r) with attack mail.

Because “guilty by association” is an American value?

So, the Missouri republican party believes that “guilty by association” is an American value.

And the inconvenient fact that the republican incumbent failed to pay $20,000.00 in property taxes when they were due is something that should apparently be ignored. *IOKIYAR

* it’s okay if you’re a republican

Let’s see. They keep recycling this stuff from their previous attack mail:

“…Cole is a card-carrying member of a liberal special interest group…”

Uh, Courtney Cole (D) is a high school teacher. The footnote refers to the Missouri National Education Association (MNEA), a group which advocates for our children and our public schools.

Uh, didn’t that “card carrying” bullshit go out with the anti-fluoridation whack jobs from the fifties? Apparently not. Same type of right wing extremists, different wedge issues….

When attacked with this drech Courtney Cole does what any self respecting fighter and Democratic Party candidate would do. She meets and engages with voters one on one.

Courtney Cole (D) at a campaign event this evening in Montserrat, Missouri in eastern Johnson County.

Previously – on the campaign mail in the 121st Legislative District:

“Noun, Verb, CPA”: Hoskins (r) mail attack on Cole (D) in the 121st Legislative District race (October 8, 2010)

Hoskins (r) mail attack on Cole (D) in the 121st Legislative District race, part 2 (October 9, 2010)

Courtney Cole (D) in the 121st Legislative District: mail – a constructive outlook for the district (October 10, 2010)

Denny Hoskins (r) in the 121st Legislative District: Mail? What mail? (October 12, 2010)

Courtney Cole (D) in the 121st Legislative District: mail – and who didn’t pay their taxes? (October 13, 2010)

In Missouri if you fail to pay your property taxes on time you have to run against Barack Obama (October 14, 2010)

Missouri Republicans say SOTU to you too

The Turner Report today offers a treasure trove, so to speak, of Missouri Republican response to the President’s State of the Union Address. You can find the National Republican Party Response, which laid down the official talking points that were then taken up and regurgitated by the Missouri Republican Party.  Such Missouri Republican luminaries as Jack Goldman (R-Mount Veron); Vicky Hartzler, the Republican challenger for Ike Skelton’s seat; and Billy Long, one of the stampede of candidates for Roy Blunt’s seat in the 7th district, also join the chorus.

In case you are not inclined to spend your precious time parsing the same old Republican tropes, I offer a summary of the salient points made collectively and singly by these members of the GOP:

— The President needs to prematurely reject his policies as failures and return to the Republican-endorsed policies of the past eight years that have already been proven to be failures.

— The President has not been listening to the American people — by which Republicans mean themselves, the lobbyists and business pals they serve, along with the small tea party mobs corporate lackeys have stirred up with distortions and empty populist rhetoric.

— 2009 marked the “people’s revolt” against tax increases – in spite of the fact that there have been no real tax increases to date, we currently enjoy the lowest tax rates of almost any developed nation, and any tax increases that have been or are being proposed are limited to the wealthiest segments of our population.

— We are endangered by the President’s determination to trust our justice system to affirm our fundamental values by insuring that Islamic terrorists are given the same fair treatment that we hand out to domestic terrorists, such as the anti-abortion activist who murdered Dr. Tiller, and the anti-abortion, anti-gay bomber who tried to blow up American citizens at the Atlanta Olympic games.

Then, as long as we are considering Republican talking points, there is Ike Skelton who, in response to the SOTU, noted that:

Instead of focusing on solutions to help America’s families wade through the wreckage of the worst economic crisis since the 1930s, Washington has wasted valuable time wrestling with partisan politics in an effort to rush through drastic reforms that do not directly address our most immediate needs.

The ostensibly Democratic Rep. Skelton also added that since the President has adopted some aspects of Republican rhetoric, all might not be lost:

The president’s address has lent us all hope – hope that the administration is finally heeding our concerns. It’s about time

Is Skelton really that frightened of Vicky Harzler, or has he always been a closet Republican?
