Yesterday evening, after a long day of visibility and campaigning, Johnson County Democrats held their annual fundraiser, a “Soupfest”, in Warrensburg.
Earlier in the day candidates and activists had participated in the university homecoming parade in Warrensburg, and with many others, joined organized “No Kings” rallies in neighboring towns.
The annual “Soupfest” is an opportunity for raising funds for the county committee and for fellowship and fun. Volunteers prepare their signature soup recipes (14 entries this year) and serve samples or bowls of soup to those attending. Each individual attending is provided with 5 tickets which they can use to vote for their favorite soup. There are bragging rights at stake. Other volunteers provide breads, desserts, and salads.
As the soups and food are getting ready to be served candidates and attendees visit.

After the food was served (and continued to be), candidates spoke about their campaigns and what needs to be done in the last few weeks of the campaign. The responses to each was enthusiastic and sustained.
They know their districts and their constituents. They know what needs to be done. Each is committed to representing people over special interests and lobbies.
Help them get there. Vote.
