“….You don’t get to quote the man while blocking the work. You don’t get to praise his courage while punishing today’s organizers for having the same spine. You don’t get to talk about dreams while voting against the scaffolding required to build them….”

Mark Alford (r) [2023 file photo].

Today:

Congressman Mark Alford
[January 19, 2026]

Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.—a leader whose vision of justice inspires us all.
[….]

Some of the responses:

Here’s the truth nobody wants to say out loud: if Dr. King were alive, most of those politicians would be scared of him. Not honoring him. Avoiding his calls. Asking aides to “manage the optics.” Calling him “divisive” behind closed doors. Telling him “now’s not the right time.”
They don’t post Letter from Birmingham Jail because it’s inconvenient. They don’t post his critiques of moderates because it hits too close to home. They don’t post his anti-capitalist, anti-war sermons because donors exist. So instead we get the diet version. King Lite. Justice-flavored LaCroix.
Safe MLK posts are how power congratulates itself for surviving another year without changing.
And look, remembrance isn’t the problem. Hypocrisy is. You don’t get to quote the man while blocking the work. You don’t get to praise his courage while punishing today’s organizers for having the same spine. You don’t get to talk about dreams while voting against the scaffolding required to build them.
Dr. King wasn’t a mascot. He was a threat. To systems. To comfort. To “go slow” politics. To people who wanted applause without redistribution.
So yeah. If I see one more politician post a sanitized quote while maintaining policies he would have marched against, I’m not inspired. I’m informed.
Build anyway. But don’t let them rewrite the man while they stall the movement.

“Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhuman.” – Martin Luther King

You should practice what you preach.

Actions speak louder than platitudes

Maybe you should be made aware of this from the president of the United States:
“Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America. Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a “right of ownership” anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also. I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT”

Way to repost because you posted it yesterday hahaha

One could observe many things about Trump’s letter to Norway.
One is the childish grammar, including the strange capitalizations (“Complete and Total Control”).
Another is the loose grasp of history. Donald Trump did not end eight wars. Greenland has been Danish territory for centuries. Its residents are Danish citizens who vote in Danish elections. There are many “written documents” establishing Danish sovereignty in Greenland, including some signed by the United States. In his second term, Trump has done nothing for NATO—an organization that the U.S. created and theoretically leads, and that has only ever been used in defense of American interests. If the European members of NATO have begun spending more on their own defense (budgets to which the U.S. never contributed), that’s because of the threat they feel from Russia.
Yet what matters isn’t the specific phrases, but the overall message: Donald Trump now genuinely lives in a different reality, one in which neither grammar nor history nor the normal rules of human interaction now affect him. Also, he really is maniacally, unhealthily obsessive about the Nobel Prize.

Martin Luther King Jr. didn’t argue against the American government; he argued that it should fulfill its constitutional promise. In turn, they killed him.
Once the judicial system and Congress failed in regards to Martin Luther King Jr.’s murder, the family took it to civil court.
There, the ruling found that the government did indeed conspire in murdering MLK Jr. and played a hand in his death. This is a fact—one not known to many.
As we celebrate Martin Luther King as an example of the constitutional civic citizen and his duty of affirmative action toward liberty and justice for all, I want to take time to remember that the government killed him too, and no justice was ever rendered. Now, we celebrate a holiday put in place by the same government that killed him.
It makes you think about how Jesus was murdered by state-driven oppression, and then the state turned it around to be justified—absolving you of your sins if you threw a stone, essentially saying, We did it so you can be forgiven.
Much like today, they are saying, We’re taking this state-oppressive action so all people can be free inside the United States, while claiming that violating rights is acceptable because the Constitution doesn’t give rights to non-citizens, and it doesn’t say we can’t take what isn’t ours by invading countries.
WHAT!? WHAT!??? Are we insane??

“Know that half the politicians praising MLK today would’ve called him a violent, radical Marxist while he was alive.”
Your words are hollow, as you are definitely one of those politicians.

Oh Congressman Mark Alford bless your heart. You’re for everything Dr. King fought so hard against.
Posting this for engagement makes you the worst.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. (MLK)
It’s time for you to stand up for truth, justice, honor, decency, and democracy. It’s time to quit bowing to an egomaniacal and autocratic leader.

My favorite thing about MLK Day are the conservative politicians who try to claim him while doing the opposite of what he said. Just like they do Jesus.

What would MLK think about ICE judging people on their skin color?
[….]

What if trump is a test by God to see how far down the devil’s path we will actually go?

The current president of the United States of America just told the world that he’s going to invade another country because he wasn’t given a Nobel peace prize. What insanity!!!

What an brilliant move by France and Ukraine, providing the Trump regime false classified intelligence just to see if it would be provided to Putin.
Trump sent it Putin straight away.
No further intelligence will be provided to the US for the foreseeable future by any European nation.

Keep his name out of your filthy mouth

If he was alive you’d be calling him a paid agitator and calling for his arrest.

Keep this Man’s name out of your nasty mouth little boy!!

Where is the honor in gerrymandering? where is the honor in voter suppression? Yet, you honor his words? A contrarian approach is what this is. as mush as you may promote Dr. Kings words, your actions tell a different story. The people elected you to represent them in a fair and concise way. Yet you choose to honor a Tyrant…Now that’s crazy

You cannot repeat the words of MLK & support MAGA. That is literally spitting in MLK’s face. He would absolutely be disgusted with this behavior. Especially supporting the decision of opening up more 🧊 detention centers. I hope you posted this to be satire and you aren’t actually serious.

Congressman Mark Alford, you support the actions of Trump and ICE which has resulted in violations of Constitutional rights and the murder of Nicole Renee Good a citizen which is the the ultimate violation of an individual’s civil rights and yet you share a post in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King.
I thought your posting of Bible verses in light of your support of Trump and the brutality of ICE was a an appalling example of your hypocrisy until you shared this post honoring Dr. King.

This post is laughable from you.

You want to build a concentration camp in your district so take a seat

You would have hated MLK if he were alive today.

Performative BS

The audacity one must have to post about MLK Jr. while supporting Trump, his administration and ICE is absolutely astounding.

Take this shit down. You support an ICE detention center last week and then post this. How stupid are you.

You support Dump and his unconstitutional Gestapo ICE. You can’t have it both ways.

Meanwhile, you support ICE detention centers for your district. You hypocrite. WWJD? WWMLK do?

FUCK YOU YOU FUCKING HYPOCRITE. You lost the privilege to even mention MLK when you idolized that piece of shit that was killed in Sept., “Let Charlie Kirk’s legacy ignite a flame of renewal in all of us. Turn to God. Reject the darkness.
Heal our land, for in healing America, we honor him and all victims of political violence.” Your words. The same one that uttered these words, “MLK [Martin Luther King Jr.] was awful. He’s not a good person. He said one good thing he actually didn’t believe.”
~Charlie Kirk Jan 2024~
GO AWAY LITTLE MAN!!!

He says….while courting a racist detention center. Not a good look Mark!
