Public Policy Polling [pdf] released additional results from from their survey of 582 Missouri voters interviewed between January 27th and 29th. The margin of error for the poll is 4.1%.
Interesting results:
Q8 If the candidates for President this year were Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney, who would you vote for?
Barack Obama – 45%
Mitt Romney – 45%
Undecided – 9%
Why would that be?
Q4 Do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of Mitt Romney?
Favorable – 30%
Unfavorable – 54%
Not sure – 15%
[emphasis added]
Apparently Missouri has a significant number of perceptive poor people.
The crosstabs also enlighten us about the republican base:
Romney Favorability
Somewhat conservative
Favorable – 46%
Unfavorable – 35%
Not sure – 19%Very conservative
Favorable – 36%
Unfavorable – 48%
Not sure – 16%
[emphasis added]
That would explain a lot.

Bob Yates said:
Obama doesn’t need to win the Show Me State, but a Republican will have to.
This means the Obama campaign can expand the playing field by putting together a ground game that will require Republican money in a place they didn’t think they would have to. They saw that ground game four years ago.
Given the transient nature of the Democratic vote, at least where I live, a campaign focusing on voter registration will help down ticket races.
