Representative Vicky Hartzler (r) evidently ran for office for one reason, and one reason only. Via Think Progress:

Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO) spoke at an event organized by the Family Research Council to mark the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade this morning and urged anti-choice advocates to plaster pictures of babies and aborted fetuses to recruit more people to their cause….

Representative Vicky Hartzler (r): ….I would just encourage you to, like, one on one continue to share the truth. And I’m a big believer in visuals. I’m a teacher. I’m a visual myself. Most Americans learn through pictures and so if you just have some brochures that you leave on the table in your dorm or, or put on the bulletin board by the elevator of a growing baby. Now some people put the pictures of the aborted fetuses, that gets your attention, too. But it might be more acceptable and stay longer to, uh, just have a little sign say, it’s a child, not a choice. And, and just put some of those facts, that three months the heart [inaudible] and it can hear at this age and, you know, just, just get the facts out to them and share the alternatives as well….

One issue, one wedge, one note. For right wingnut republicans that’s a feature, not a bug. For constituents, however:

Rep. Vicky Hartzler (r): town hall in Warrensburg, part 1 (August 11, 2011)

….Representative Hartzler: All right [crosstalk]. Listen, listen [crosstalk]…

Voice: When, when you ran your campaign [crosstalk] the only thing we heard was jobs, jobs, jobs [crosstalk], jobs, jobs. [crosstalk] You get into office and the only thing we hear out of you now is abortion [inaudible].

Voice: We were gonna fix it, that’s what you said….
