The October 2011 quarterly campaign finance reports are showing up at the Missouri Ethics Commission. Attorney General Chris Koster (D) is the only candidate for his office, so far. Attorney General Koster’s (D) campaign filed the quarterly report today:

Interesting sample. Small dollar contributors, organized labor (working people!), attorneys and law firms (they tend to prefer competence and stability in this office over right wingnut ideology), and, of course, groups that prefer public policy that is based on, you know, rational science rather than the cynical exploitation of wedge issues.

There are the usual campaign expenses, including office supplies, Internet services, campaign staff, travel, etc. And this:

ITEMIZED EXPENDITURES OVER $100 SUPPLEMENTAL FORM

NARAL Pro-Choice MO Saint Louis MO 63110-3808 8/30/2011 Gala Tickets $200.00

Now, what are the odds that any republican candidate for statewide office would have something like this show up on their campaign finance report, let alone attend? Zero, with absolute certainty.

There is a difference.
