Want to see Robin Carnahan nose by Roy Blunt November 4th? Then do what you can, if you live in St. Louis, to sandbag Ed Martin’s candidacy against Russ Carnahan. A Post-Dispatch article about a Tea Bagger rally this Sunday points out that the baggers don’t like Blunt, but they’ll vote for him.
Some other candidates on the Missouri ballot, however, are energizing Tea Party followers.
Republican congressional hopeful Ed Martin, who is challenging incumbent St. Louis Rep. Russ Carnahan, has prompted Tea Party enthusiasm. So has Vicky Hartzler, running across the state to unseat Democrat Ike Skelton, Missouri’s longest-serving member of Congress, in the 4th District.
Teismann predicts a reverse coattail effect in which candidates lower on the Republican ballot help those running for statewide office.
“Folks like Roy Blunt and others who are on the same side of the ticket are going to benefit,” Teismann said.
Russ Carnahan’s campaign has phone banking and door knocking going on this Sunday all afternoon, starting at noon. You could show up at 7000 S. Chippewa with a cell phone any time that afternoon and work a call list. Or you could arrive at noon and get a walk list.
Every time you knock on a door or dial a phone number, you’d be aiming a little shove at Roy Blunt. That’s going to be a close race.
