mantra – regardless of its applicability to the particular sitution. They count on an unthinking conditioned response to the phrase. It is at most times an over simplification, in this case its use is criminal.
She is trying to lose and wants to replace Martha Coakley in the lexicon as a political neologism that is synonymous with “fucking up on an epic scale and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.”
Don’t get me wrong – I think that is exactly what she is trying to do. It’s mid April and there is no ground game in KC. WTF, people? We have a freakin’ vote machine over here that is idling in the driveway, and she’s sitting at her vanity deciding on which lipgloss best matches her undies or something.
I hated having to call Junior “Governor.” I really don’t want to call Senior “Senator.” Just take a knife and stick it in my heart, why don’t you?
I want to be able to go to my next college reunion and tell my Women’s Studies professors that I am from one of those states with two female Senators and yes, I have met them both, in fact I helped get them elected…
I know, it’s not about my bragging rights, but at this point that’s all I have motivating me. Sad, innit?
