Bernie Miklasz, sports writer at the Post-Dispatch, thinks we on the left are just as vicious and hateful as Rush:

Limbaugh hits hard, but he’s no more vicious than those who attack him from the opposite extreme of the political spectrum. [boldface mine]
Again, with the unsubstantiated claims. Who are we talking about here? Rachel Maddow? Randi Rhodes? As hateful as Rush? Please. It’s like comparing a gnat to a scorpion.
In fact, when it comes to hate radio, Rush has a megaphone and the left has laryngitis.
and when you call him on it you’re just as bad as he is? Added to which, much of what Rush has been accused of (and BTW it is not taken out of context) amounts to what many in our society consider beyond the pale, so far as I those who point that out have not made that particular trip themselves.
I’m sure if Bernie M got a taste of Rush’s poisoned arrows, he’d sing a different tune. Let’s see Rush go off on sports writers and what creeps they are. Jock wannabees, etc.
No, liberals don’t do nasty things like that. There is no comparison, and I’m personally sick of people like Bernie taking the intellectually lazy way out when they compare wingnuts and liberals. If liberals/progressives used dirty tricks and had the kind of power Rush has, Dubya would be on trial as a war criminal.
